One night of complete surrender is all it takes. Gareth Harris is Manchester United’s reclusive star defender. He has control over all aspects of his life. But a lifetime of supporting his siblings and filling in for an emotionally absent father has taken its toll. Sloan Montgomery is a clothing stylist whose world was turned upside down when she found herself pregnant and moving to Manchester … moving to Manchester with a man who was never supposed to be her forever. Now recently divorced and struggling with shared custody of her daughter, control is a fleeting concept for this American living in England.
Both Gareth and Sloan are in need of a release.
A moment in time where they can forget about their pasts and family pressures…and just…
…surrender.
No one could predict what happens when both of their defences are down.
Surrender is part one of the Final Harris Brother Duet and concludes with Dominate. This duet reads great on it’s own, but to maximize enjoyment, check out the first three brothers’ books in Challenge, Endurance, and Keeper

Now I understand why it took time to cultivate Gareth’s story. This book is Amy Daws’ finest work for the Harris Brothers. Gareth has remained somewhat of an illusion in the previous books. He’s present but nothing much about him divulged.
Harris plays for Man U, that in itself leads to lack of privacy on the field. Off the field, fans think they have the right to that access. Gareth is always to compared to and by his family. It’s hard growing up always being compared to your father.
Sloan is a divorced mother who’s ex can’t just let go. She’s trying to reassert herself as a kickass woman with her job that gives her freedom.
These two are brought together as a release from the world around them. They exist together. They live separately. There are complex, dynamic attributes that make Gareth and Sloan so incredibly attractive to each other. I will say the power of pure sexuality between these two is off the charts.
I’m checking off the days until their next book comes about.
I will start by saying I have not read the other books in this series but I did not feel lost at all. I think the author did a great job of keeping the focus on the journey of Gareth and Sloan. Surrender is the story of two people seeking something to shake them up in their lives. Gareth is looking to surrender control to another person after years of being the head of the family. Sloan is looking to gain control of her life. She finds this by taking control of her sexuality and control of Gareth.
I really liked how Ms. Daws played out the scenes between Gareth and Sloan. It was cool to see Sloan gain her confidence and power. They were sexy together.
I would have liked a few things done differently but overall this was a great read. I think the ending was a bit rushed. I think a few more things needed resolved between these two and then *boom* the ending came. That being said I am looking forward to the conclusion. I do not have any clue who is out to get these two so I hope it is a good twist. Well done!
5 + STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this book. Surrender was everything I wanted and more for this series. Amy Daws is an amazing author and this book is pure genius. I loved every single second of Gareth. The pain of loss that Gareth feels is so raw, but somehow he is still an amazing man. He is a Harris after all. The emotion is this book was almost to much at times. I found myself feeling every emotion right along with him.
Sloan is one of the best female characters I have read in a while. She made my heart soar and break all at the same time. I love who and what she is for Gareth. In a way, they seem to balance each other. Sloan is everything I want her to be and so, so much more.
No Harris story is complete without the whole family. I just love them, all, so much. They feel like they are my own.
I will say, this books ending…well the mother of all cliffhangers. I’m so not saying anymore, other than, I want the next book and I want it now. I cannot wait for Dominate. Amy Daws has done an amazing job with this series. I’m so incredibly sad to see it end soon. Please check out the Harris Brother Books if you haven’t yet!
Goodness this book!!! After Keeper, I really wanted Gareth’s book but it took awhile to get there and finally we are here!!! I loved the start of Gareth and Sloan’s story. Somewhat complicated yet they need each other, their chemistry and pull towards each other is evident.
Sloan has been through a somewhat rough life. Growing up with nothing and having to work sooo hard for everything pushes her towards something she never wanted. Things happen and fast forward she needs Gareth. I liked their banter, their push and pull towards one another.
I loved seeing more of the Harris brothers again. Booker is a favorite of mine but as I read more into Gareth, they’re rivaling each other in my favorites. I won’t talk too much about book 1 because you have to read it. I cannot wait for book 2!!!!
Wow just freaking wow!!! This book amazed me! I was convinced that Booker was my favorite Harris brother until Gareth!
I have been waiting for Gareth’s book since I first read ” Challenge”
And it was so worth the wait!!!
“Sometimes when you love someone too much, your heart is louder than your head”
Gareth went through so much as young child, helped keep him family together, he is the one Vi goes to with all the other Harris brother’s problems. He is constantly “fixing” things for them.
“He can both dominate and surrender. In fact, it makes him more of a man if he can do both”
Sloan is an American working in Manchester as a personal stylist.
She has formed a friendship with Gareth, he is her only client that doesn’t treat her like crap!
Gah their chemistry is off the freaking charts!!!
There is some twists and turns that I definitely didn’t see coming but dang they were great!
I can’t wait for Dominate!!
Holy Hotness Amy!! I absolutely loved Gareth and Sloan.
You certainly made their story sweet, sexy, angsty and oh so swoon worthy.
Gareth may be my new book boyfriend.
When they first meet Sloan is married and a fashion stylist and Gareth is a British Football player. He is strong, silent, private and very protective. He has an instant attraction to Sloan but realizes that she is taken.
Sloan is a married woman but her arrogant self absorbed husband could really care less about her needs or their family. Yes he has money but that doesn’t buy love . They have now drifted apart and he has landed in another young women’s bed and Sloan realizes it is time to cut her loss and break free. She needs a new life for her an her daughter. On the cusp of finding her husband cheating she is still a business woman and she needs to dress one of her high profile clients. When she enters Gareth’s home he knows right away that she is not her normal chipper helpful self ! This is where it gets very interesting .
Sloan needs control over something or someone and Gareth is so in tune to reading her that he becomes her need ! This is going to get complicated and you will love every minute of it !!
I loved it !

THIS BOOK!!!! AARRRGGGHHHH Ok…I need to focus with words rather than noises. This book is the final duet in the Harris Brother’s series. I’ve been a fan of this series, this family and Amy Daws since I read the first book in this series. But OMG…there is something about Gareth that is just…aaaahhhhhhhh. Ok…use my words not noises. Both of these characters are complex and compelling. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of getting to know them individually and as a couple. This book is just so different than most books out there. There are so many ways that it’s different, that I don’t want to spoil your discovery of the characters and their story by listing all the ways. Just trust me when I say this book is intriguing, emotional, captivating and oohhh so VERY SEXY!!!
Now, fair warning, this book is a duet so this book does end in a cliffhanger. The author is very upfront about it. Normally I hate books that end in cliffhangers and won’t read because I feel that it’s just a ploy to sell more books. This is absolutely NOT the case in this book. You NEED more than one book to understand and appreciate the complexity of Gareth and Sloan. Even at the end of this book there is also SO MUCH more to learn. The best thing is you only have to wait 2 weeks for the conclusion! So this book definitely passes my cliffhanger test… story is complex and needs two books *check*, author is upfront about the cliffhanger *check*, short wait time for other book *check*.
If you are looking for a book that will reach out and grab you, shake you around a little bit, and take you on an emotional, exciting, and sexy ride, then you definitely need to read this book!
I love this book, I love Gareth, I hate Sloan. Okay well I did hate Sloan, actually for most of the book. She works well with Gareth though, so eh, whadda you gonna do?LOL She did grow on my by the end, where yes, there is a cliff hanger, it’s kinda obvious, it’s part 1 of a duet. This was so well told, and so deep in the feels, it isn’t funny except a few small parts, so if you are wanting a romantic comedy, this isn’t it. This is a powerful story, of love, lust, loss, finding ones self sense of worth(is that even a phrase?) Any how, this book is wonderful, you get to revisit all the Harris brothers, and if you have read those you will understand why Gareth needs two books. Sit back, buckle up…maybe get a bottle of wine (you are gonna need it.lol) and enjoy this wonderful story. Told in dual pov.
What a book!!!! If feels as though we have been waiting for Gareth’s book, forever, but by god was it worth the wait.
I loved the little glimpses of Gareth in the previous books, and just knew he was going to be my favourite brother. And this book, definitely proved that.
I loved that we finally get to understand who he is, and the reasons behind it. I absolutely loved that we got to see inside his heart. To the person who he is under all the layers of broodiness. And it’s all thanks to one woman…Sloan.
They were perfect for each other, and I seriously cannot wait to get more in book 2, of their story. Especially with the ending we got!
I’m just glad we don’t have to wait long for it.
5 stars is not enough for this book. Gareth is a hot British footballer. Sloan is a recently divorced single mom who is trying to gain control of her life again. Sloan dresses the stars, one of them being Mr. Gareth Harris, the mysteriously loner footballer! When Sloan takes a chance and throws herself into an unconventional arrangement with Gareth, will she gain the control she longs for or will they both lose control? This book has it all and leaves you wanting so much more!
5 +++++ STARS
I have long been a fan of Amy Daws and in love with the entire Harris clan! However, this one is probably my favorite book yet by Daws! Gareth has always intrigued me since the very beginning, and I always kept hoping the next book would be about him. Let me just say….Amy Daws made Gareth worth every single second I had to wait for him.
All of us knew Gareth was a complicated, complex man. Daws was ingenious in giving us little tidbits about him throughout the series, just whetting our appetite more for him. I had no clue just how complicated he was. With each chapter I read, I learned something new about him, and something else that made me fall even deeper for him.
Sloan is the perfect match for him. She understands him more than any other human does, even before she got to know him better. She is a pretty complex character as well, and just like with Gareth, I learned something new about her with each word I read.
The title Daws chose was perfect…surrender. That is exactly what this book is about. Gareth has always been in control, he and his sister, Vi, are the glue that has held the Harris family together. With Sloan, he is allowed to surrender completely to her, giving his heart and his trust to her…100 percent. It’s a risk for him. His heart is tender, and Sloan holds it in the palm of her hand. Sloan’s life is completely opposite of Gareth. For many years, her life has been completely out of her control. With Gareth, he lets her have control, in fact, he relishes in it, enjoying seeing this side to her.
There were so many things I loved about this book! Of course, Gareth and Sloan. There is such a connection between these two, first with friendship. It is a friendship that has endured for years. It is a deeply romantic book, yet it is also a deeply emotional one, and who doesn’t like catching up with the Harris clan. The story of Gareth and Sloan isn’t nearly over, and I can’t wait to see how it ends!!!!
*4.5 Stars*
Bloody hell!!!
Where to even start?!?! This book had me “Surrendering” to every word from the very first one all the way through to the heart stopping cliffhanger.
I have loved every single Harris brother but I knew there was a good chance that Gareth would be my favorite, putting his brothers farther down in the line-up. He’s been the mysterious, broody, older brother that caught my attention way back in Challenge, book one in the Harris brothers series.
Amy did an amazing job with getting into Gareth’s head. I love every single glimpse we get and love learning more about him. Sloan is so amazing and so perfect for this story and for Gareth! Their story wouldn’t be complete with the whole family along for the ride. I love being able to see what the rest of the family is up to. A huge chunk of my heart belongs to these Harris Brothers, and of course their sister, Vi.
I refuse to give anymore away of this story. This is a duet not to be missed! I can’t wait to get my hands on the second part of this duet! I need it, NOW!
Note: You can read each of these books, individually as standalones, but I HIGHLY recommend you go back to the beginning. You will fall in love with each member of this tight knit football family.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
Surrender by Amy Daws is the fourth book in her Harris Brothers series. It is also the first of two connected books about Gareth Harris, the oldest Harris brother and the one we know the least about. Told in dual POV this story is unexpected, refreshing, and sexy as all get out.
Gareth is a private person – more by preference than anything. He just has never felt connected to a woman on an emotional level. When Sloan walks into his life sparks fly immediately and wake him up like never before, until he sees her wedding band. After that the form a strange friendship, between footballer and stylist, and keep things platonic. Until the day Sloan breaks down in his house and he has the BEST night of his life, ever.
Sloan has many things to be thankful for. Her career, her home, her healthy child, until she comes home to find ehr husband has been cheating on her, a divorce is imminent and he wants to fight for 50/50 custody of their daughter. Worst day ever. When she HAS to drop a suit off at Gareth’s for an event he has the next morning she never expected him to be the supportive person he was and she also never expected how passionate and empowering their physical connection would be.
Spanning a couple of years or so in their lives, this story was fabulous – It DOES end on a cliffhanger but the second book, Dominate, will be out soon. Enjoy!
This the 4th book in the Harris Brother series and its Gareth and Sloan’s story. Amy brought her usual flawless writing style to this book, leaving me captivated from beginning to end and waiting desperately for the next book Dominate
I managed to forgive Amy for making Gareth a Man United player (I’m a Spurs girl) and I think Gareth has become my favourite Harris Brother and I loved Sloan.
Sloan and Gareth meet when she is hired to dress him for a photoshoot. The chemistry between them is scorching and the sparks between them is palpable. They meet again 2 years later when her life has imploded thanks to her cheating husband and they embark a friends-with-benefits arrangement.
I am now counting down the days till the conclusion is out after that cliffhanger!
This is book has rendered me speechless. I LOVE Gareth and Sloan so HARD and we were warned that it was going to be a helluva cliffhanger (duh – DUET!) but I still was not ready for it. Even when I sort of saw it coming (because like the talented author that she is, Amy Daws dropped the most subtle foreshadowing in there for us), I was still FLABBERGASTED by the ending. Surrender is wholly unique (I fully stand behind this absolute statement because it is true for me as a reader) and utterly unputdownable (I literally lost sleep over this gem) and I wish that I could fast forward life to the time when Dominate magically shows up on my kindle. Surrender is one of my Best of 2018 reads, I immediately put it in my Amazon cart because I need the paperback in my life, but I’m going to wait to pull the trigger for when Dominate comes out so that I can have them both. And being the slightly obsessive book lover that I am, I’ll probably end up with the rest of the series in paperback as well… And the London Lovers series since it’s connected. Fly money fly… 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Holy crap on a cracker! Surrender was so different to what I was expecting, but it was completely perfect.
I’ve been dying for Gareth Harris’ book for what feels like forever, and Ms Daws did not disappoint. If you like your sports romance with an unexpected twist, Surrender is definitely for you.

A slow burn, consuming, steamy read. Amy Daws worked her magic once again! Surrender is a page turning must read! It is part one of the Final Harris Brother Duet, although it could be read on its own, I highly recommend you read the entire series in order.
Gareth Harris is the oldest of the Harris brothers, he is also the most reclusive. Throughout the series we get a glimpse of who he is, just enough to keep us intrigued. Going into this I thought I had an idea of who Gareth was, boy was I wrong. This man is so complex and fascinating, the depth of his character baffled me.
Gareth and Sloan were friends before anything else, or at least as friendly as they’d allowed themselves to be. From the very beginning we get a sense of longing, for various reasons Gareth and Sloan can’t be. When the opportunity for them to be together finally arises, they find both surrender and control within each other.
When they are together there is no outside world, or problems. It is just Gareth surrendering to Sloan and Sloan finding the control she desperately seeks in her everyday life. They are magnetic together, absolutely perfect for each other. But it wouldn’t be an amazing duet if it ended with a HEA. Although I knew Surrender ended with a cliffhanger it still took me by surprise. It left me with a dropped jaw, waiting until we get the second part of this duet.
Daws did what she does best, she gave us a beautiful heartfelt story. One that left me at the edge of my seat. It is definitely absorbing, her words always seem to captivate me. I knew I’d love Gareth, but I also loved being able to get a glimpse of the rest of the Harris family. I can not wait to see this book come full circle. Until then, my mind will be reeling.
This is the moment that anyone who reads the series has been waiting for and that is to finally get to know Gareth. He has always been the sibling that everyone came to for help and guidance and he bears the problems of the family on his very sexy shoulders. From the moment he met his stylist Sloan they had an instant connection and became friends as well.
The only good thing about leaving the US to come to England was Sloan’s career. Although she wouldn’t change a thing, an accidental pregnancy resulted in a disastrous marriage where she was constantly told she was not good enough and she is now facing a divorce from her cheating husband.
Once Gareth finds out about her divorce he becomes her confidant and support system. They both have painful pasts which only brings them closer and your heart just breaks for them. It is great to catch up with the rest of the clan and although there is a cliffhanger the good news is that we will get to experience more of this amazing couple in the second part of this duet.
the truth is i fell in love with gareth harris in that one moment. There was something about the mysterious older harris sibling that has intrigued me. and i’m so, so thrilled that we finally get to see the man behind the enigma. the harris brothers books are all standalones, but to understand who each of these men are as characters, it’s best to read them in order.
the other truth is that i have a lot of emotions and feelings and words about surrender but all of them are garbled and crazy-sounding because i don’t think i know the right way to express how much i loved this story. i beyond love this story. sloan and gareth are…
…they are just mind-blowing together. i love their relationship. i love how they touch each other. i love how they communicate and don’t communicate, it’s complicated and emotional and just absolutely perfect. they are messily perfect together, and because it’s a duet, the story isn’t over by the end of surrender. we are clearly in the middle of an epic love story.
it’s just perfection. amy daws has totally nailed it. the end of this series might wreck me, but she has clearly saved the best for last and i’m just so freaking happy and may just go read this book over again in order to kill the time between now and when dominate is set to release.
**surrender will publish on july 19, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of give me books promotions/amy daws in exchange for my honest review.
Oh my god! Gareth Harris I knew from the beginning would likely end up being my favorite Harris brother and he didn’t disappoint. Dark, mysterious and moody was the perfect recipes for leading man material!
Sloan Montgomery a little broken by the cards she has been dealt but fighting for a brighter future makes for a woman on the verge of greatness.
The ying and yang; perfect balance for each other if only they could get their hearts and minds on the same page. This is a page turner for sure at times you’ll want to scream at them and other times your rooting for them.
The end will leave you counting down the days till Dominate is released! Well done Amy Daws well done!
