I recently reread all the Dick Francis books and they stand up to time
Great read!!
Dick Francis’ presentation of murder mysteries, based around horse races, in England, is a dynamic dual that is truly hard to beat. Unfortunately, with Dick Francis deceased, the number of his crime mysteries, is limited. However, fortunately for the reader, his son, Felix Francis has carried on, by producing his own set of murder mystery stories, in the same articulated vein, of his father.
Dick Francis never disappoints! Good plot; kept my interest as always.
Dick Francis pulls you in and keeps you reading. Even though he usually writes about the world of jump racing in England, even if you know nothing about that world, you feel like you are there and a part of it. He always has many twists and turns. One of my all-time favorite authors.
Love everything he wrote…
Kind of what you’d expect from Francis – good plot, certain amount of danger. But I thought there were at least one too many miraculous escapes, and the traffic accident became downright tedious.
A good story with the tragic hero, braving through personal injury to solve his brother’s secretively security issues.
The ending not so much.
Actually it is a four +++ star. I just can’t give anything a perfect score. I could have done with less violence but that is part of his style. Will probably read again.
One of his very best!
Love dick Francis. Such great stories.
You can never go wrong with Dick Francis. I started reading his books at age 15, and still go back and re-read favorites. I miss him!!
Dick Francis at his best
Dick Francis never lets you down…always great characters, great insight into the world of racing. This novel is no exception…
Have always loved the Dick Francis series. Appreciate the small insight into the world of racing. Always “real” characters and plots.
