Never miss a book by this author!
Dick Francis could not write a poor book. In any order, his books were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable.
One of my favorite Dick Francis books for sure!
Dick Francis has never written a bad book. His characters are Realistic and you want them to succeed.
I love all Dick Francis books. I’m gradually getting the kindle version of all of them.
Typical Francis book with complicated, multiple-level plots and lots of action. Another one of those stay-up-too-late-at-night-to-finish-it books!
I’ve been a Dick Francis fan since the 1960’s. The first of his books I ever read was “Nerve”, and I was hooked. The storyline was gripping and I couldn’t put it down. “Straight” and every other book he wrote is just as good. I know, I’ve read them all and some of them more than once. I was very sad when he passed away some years ago. From what I’ve learned, he was a sweet gentle man, much loved by his family. His son has picked up the reins (no pun intended) and written a few books too. I’ve read a couple and even though they’re quite good, no one can match his father. Mr. Francis was one of a kind.
Unusual situation. It was interesting to folloe the trail.
Dick Francis is one of my favorite authors. I like the way his protagonists come from different horse-related backgrounds, each with a different outlook.
All of Dick Francis’ books are fun and entertaining. I never knew anything about steeplechase racing until I found his books.
As usual, Francis delivers crime and horses in delightful detail and who done it twists.
I loved this book when it was first written thirty years ago. Upon rereading it, Dick Francis remains one of the finest mystery/thriller authors ever to grace the written page. How I miss the man and his command of the word.
You can’t go wrong with any Dick Francis book. His son, Felix, is wonderful as well seamlessly followed in his father’s shoes.
I like most all of Dick Francis’ books about his world of horse racing in England, mostly. Dick Francis’ books grab you and do not let go of you until the end.
Dick Francis write wonderful books. Recommend almost all of them! You can’t do wring for an easy read on the beach or in front of a fire.
I enjoyed re-reading this book, as I have most DIck Francis novels.
A classic. And absolute classic. I must have read it 10 times at least, and every time it’s better than it was before.
I love all of Dick Francis’ books and this is no exception.
Love Dick Francis and especially love STRAIGHT. Perfect for when you just want to be entertained and lose yourself in a book and another world. Sleek and swift like a beautiful racehorse with the best first paragraph evah! “I inherited my brother’s life. Inherited his desk, his business, his gadgets, his enemies, his horses and his mistress. I inherited my brother’s life, and it nearly killed me.”
How can anyone resist? I couldn’t! Can you?
