Every so often I’ll come across a book like this, a sort of self-help piece meant to inspire one to chase dreams and stop daily stressing over small things to move with purpose. I will say the title is a bit of a misnomer. It sounds nice, but the objective of this book, at least in my opinion, is to step forward with complete intention and awareness.
The outlook here isn’t original, but it is laid out in a unique way that is very readable. Mangena is also unique in that he manages to say everything he needs to in a short book.
There were some issues I found with editing (and I see this a lot with indie/new authors) that could be cleaned up with a pro edit or thorough readthrough, but overall it was a pretty good book for those in need of some direction and inspiration, as well as personal accountability.
Stepping Beyond Intention wants to help guide you down a path of personal choices that will connect you with your desired results. The author, Daniel Mangena did not create his plan in a scientific lab, his research was gathered through real life experiences, otherwise known as the school of life.
The goal of this book is to help people achieve their full potential through a series of steps that he shares throughout the pages of this book.
I read the eBook format of this book and found many grammatical errors, but am choosing to give it four stars because I can see that it has the ability to help those in need of change, of a new direction for their life. I haven’t read many of these types of books, but I think that the straightforward approach this book has taken will be helpful to many.
British author Daniel Mangena formed The Mangena Foundation in 2015 and incorporated England and Wales in 2017 as a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower the next generations to create a better, brighter, safer, and more loving world. The foundation builds schools and orphanage in third world countries, mentors children in foster care and children’s homes in the UK and mentors young offenders and those in the criminal justice system in the UK. The key phrases are ‘emancipation through education’, ‘a safe home for every child’, ‘teaching creative independence’, and ‘supporting the value of creators of tomorrow.’
In this exceptional book, Daniel’s mission statement carries impact: “Spearhead an evolutionary uplift in universal consciousness by awakening people to the importance of their unique role. This that is already encoded in them by way of a deep and often ignored or undervalued passion defined as their Dream.” And as he has stated before, ‘Growth is a key component in nature—if you aren’t growing you are dying.’ His gift: a four-step system now called the Beyond Intention Paradigm.
As is his charge, Daniel focuses on guiding us on personal growth – the important step to taking control of our lives and fulfilling our dreams. In his words, ‘If you look at every experience that has been in your life, there is only one thing that has been present there all the time; you. In every win. In every lesson. In every challenge. You. This simple truth came to me at a truly dark time. If was this recognition that pulled me back from the brink of taking my own life; I was there at the centre of every experience I had sought to escape. If I change me, I can change it all. That moment was the birth of Beyond Intention and the start of my journey into my true purpose here on earth, and was born in a situation where I had every reason to push blame in a 100 different directions. But the joy I have in my life today, stems directly from my owning this.’
Perhaps the most pertinent view of the importance of this book is Daniel’s statement as follows: ‘Step with me Beyond Intention and open your mind to the paradigm of pure intention made manifest in your life, deliberately on command each time. I am not a scientist or mystic or sage but spent some time in the mystery schools and have spent nearly 20 years at the feet of all three of the former. I am a student of such, just as we are all students of life. I will not therefore insult the great works of others living and passed on who have dedicated themselves to teaching some of the more specialized areas that I will be sharing with you in this book. As much as possible I will be directing you to additional resources to add depth and substance to the ideas explored in this introductory journey into my work, but I do in all instances ask for your patience where certain leaps are made and do invite you to look a little deeper before rejecting any concepts that I have not expounded on with the greatest elegance.’
With that degree of supportive guidance and compassion, Daniel shares his life experiences that provide the foundation upon which we can implement our growth into enriched lives. Very highly recommended.
This is going to sound really stupid, but I recently got a puppy and I found the new level of responsibly extremely stressful. It changed so much about my life that I began to doubt my ability not only to care for my puppy, but to be able to handle all other aspects of my life. I felt like a complete failure and needed a boost, and not just the temporary one that chocolate brings.
I’m fairly new to the world of self-help books, having read the odd one in the past. But after a great success using a self-help book to help me beat my fear of flying and get on a place for the first time in 20 years, I’m much more open to them. ‘Stepping Beyond Intention’ by Daniel Mangena seemed like it would give me the advice and tools I needed to get past the block I had put on myself and help me to deal with some of my anxieties. And it really did!
The focus on ‘Stepping Beyond Intention’ is working on your own personal growth. By talking about his own experiences, I was reminded that in my past I have too struggled, but I came out of the other side every time, and this time I would too. Instead of providing you with a few motivational quotes, you are actually given tools and techniques to grow, however, you may need to. A very useful read for me.
