Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour
Five Stars
Special Agent Charli is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI series by Mimi Barbour. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Barbour, but I plan to go back and read the first five books in this series. This story had me hooked from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down and it kept me up well into the night, but it was definitely worth the loss of sleep.
FBI Agent Charli was looking forward to a vacation with her gramps, but when those plans go awry and she ends up taking care of a teenager in the witness protection program with a new partner. Things heat up with Blake as they try to solve the murder.
This book is filled with action, adventure, mystery and romance. It is in the top five reads I have read this year. If you are looking for a good mystery with romance thrown in, this is the book for you.
I give Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6) by Mimi Barbour, 5 stars.
Charli just got off a very stressful undercover assignment that came close to breaking her. She has been approved to take a month-long vacation to unwind and get herself back together. She is in no frame of mind to take on another case. But when a girl comes to her begging for help, she can’t say no. And when the girl needs to go into witness protection, she will only go if Agent Charli goes with her. Again Charli cannot say no to this girl, as much as she wants to. This leads her to Florida and the local police agent Blake Sebastian. Her cover is the fiance of this womanizing cop. She doesn’t need another man in her life. But how does he seem to charm his way into her life? And will they be able to keep this frightened girl safe?
This was an incredible book. I have not read this series before and had no idea what to expect. I can understand where Charli is at in the beginning of the book. She is mentally burned out. She needs a relaxing vacation. But at the same time, she cannot risk this girl’s life. Blake is also an engaging character. He is the stereotypical playboy, until he meets his match in Charli. The story is captivating – besides the possible romance between these two, there is plenty of suspense. There are multiple things going on in here, not just catching the bad guy and watching the romance try to bloom. I was on the edge of my seat until the end.
I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to those lovers of romantic suspense.
Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6) by Mimi Barbour. While this is book 6 it can be read as a standalone without any questions or confusion. From page I was drawn into this story. Charli’s character is one that I immediately took a liking to, she’s a bit different than normal female main characters. A bit of a tougher nut to crack as she’s built walls high. All the characters in this story brought something unique and different to the story, even ones that I didn’t click with immediately still warmed their way into my heart by the end. They mystery of the story is well written and paced nicely, definitely left me on the edge of my seat more than once. I read this as a standalone but I definitely can’t wait to read the other in this series. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.
Special Agent Charli ( Undercover FBI Book 6) By Mimi Barbour. I LOVED this book. It was so good I couldn’t put it down once I started which led to a book hangover at work! Charli Madison is a burnt out Agent who only wants to go on vacation with her Gramps (Poppa John) but her job interferes when she has to protect a teenage girl, Kayla , who is forced into Witness Protection. Kayla is in Foster Care and has had a really sad life but she is put in Witness protection because she witnessed a murder by a Mafia Boss. Enter Major Blake Sebastian the Police officer assigned to protecting Kayla and Charli. Blake is a ladies man and has always had women at every turn but after spending time with Charli he’s realized he might be ready to settle down. Will Blake and Charli try to make a go after this crazy situation is over? Read Special Agent Charli to find out. I fell more in love with Poppa John than I did Blake in this book. Everyone needs a Poppa John! This book is so fun and so fast that if you read it you will love it!

5 Stars
Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour is the sixth installment of the Undercover FBI series. This story is a suspenseful, romance thriller which can be read as a standalone. With the scene in the first chapter, I was completely hooked into the storyline and couldn’t stop reading to find out what would happen. This is the story of Charli Madison and Blake Sebastian. Charli is an undercover FBI agent that is getting ready to leave on vacation when she ends up involved in a protection detail of a young girl that witnesses a crime. In comes Blake, also a law enforcement officer that will assist her during the protection order. Blake reeks of Alpha male all over, he is a ladies man and seems to be getting Charli’s attention but not in a good way. They need to set aside the tension between them to make sure the killer does not succeed in getting to the protected witness. While protecting the young witness, will Blake be able to get into Charli’s heart? Will they both succeed in catching the killer on the loose? This story had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. Both main characters had so much tension and chemistry that is was bouncing of the walls. I highly recommend this story and look forward to reading the other books from this series.
Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour a four-star read that will intrigue and mesmerise you. This is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI agent series and they are all true stand-alone reads, I haven’t read the preceding books but will be going back to check them out. Special Agent Charli Madison is a great character, she was funny and honest and someone you would love to help solve crimes. Charli is only one upped by her gramps, who is amazing, so very very funny. The chemistry between Charli and Blake will make you sizzle. This was a great read and I can’t wait the rest of the series.

Stars: 4
Special Agent Charli is an action packed love story. I truly appreciated that the love story wasn’t just a romantic love story, but also the love of family members. This gave this story more depth and was more interesting to me. These characters were fun to read about as the each dealt with their own issues and relying on one another.
Special Agent Charli
Undercover FBI Book 6
By Mimi Barbour
Let take a suspenseful story and throw in some crazy romance. While we try and stay a head.
Charli works for the FBI, and she is good at her job. But… She has just finished with a serious case. She needs a vacation and she is about to go. Just her and her grandfather, at their favorite spot. In comes the knock and the begging, crying and scared child.
Mimi Barbour has written this story and included some antidotes to bring the story full circle. Her characters are so real, and her explanations are frightening. While I read this in the middle of the night, it did not stop me from hearing every little noise. I love this story! The case has some true to life examples. That will keep you turning those pages. I will continue to seek more from this author.
**I received a copy of Special Agent Charli from Harlequin-Carina Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. **
Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour is the sixth book in her Undercover FBI Book. Even though I haven’t read any of the previous books I believe that it can be read as a standalone easily. I give the story a 4.5 star rating mostly because of Poppa John as he’s a firecracker for being 90 years young and still has the energy to keep up with 2 teen girls.
Charli has just come off of a brutal long undercover job for the FBI and is looking forward to her vacation with her grandfather Poppa John. But when a young girl frantically knocks on her door after witnessing a hit man kill a woman little does she realize that she’ll be taking having to postpone it and go into witness protection with Kayla instead of her “Popsicle”. She’ll meet Blake who seems to have women everywhere and another teen, Angie, who also needs protecting. Will she be able to trust Blake when he tells her that she the woman whom he wants not all the other ladies?
Blake is a major at his local police department when a friend calls in a favor to help guard a FBI agent and a girl who witnessed one of the most wanted hit men, Silverado, kill a woman. He’ll soon become very protective of them much to the dismay of Charli who doesn’t want help. But when Poppa John and the girls go missing Blake will step up to help find them and realize that with Charli and the girls he’s found the family he’s always wanted.
This may be book six in a series, but it was a stand alone. Charli is in need of a break she never gets, because she’s needed by a teen who needs saving in more than one way. Between Charli, a couple teenagers, Blake the player, and Gramps, this odd group goes through some pretty intense moments. It’s nice how they all find what they have been missing in one another. While the love scenes didn’t really start my fire (just could have flowed better, or used better terms), the action, suspense, and story were really good. It was an enjoyable read.

Special Agent Charli is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI series by Mimi Barbour. I have read a few of her books now and she never fails to deliver a wonderful story that captivates me right from the beginning. I particularly loved this book, not just because the story was superbly written, full of intrigue, mystery, suspense, romance, sizzle, and some drama. But because the characters were just so incredibly endearing (well, except for the killer)- these characters really are the jewels in this story- they were so lovingly crafted into fully realised individuals with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. I was immediately invested in them and this fantastic story. I was so hooked, that I devoured the whole thing in one sitting. I could feel that the author put a lot of her heart and soul into this story and I feel the love she has for her own Poppa John, he is one of the best characters I have read. I just loved him, and even though he is a ‘supporting’ character, he really added something special to the overall storyline. Because of him, the story was sweeter, more emotional, tender and touching than it would have been without him. Don’t get me wrong, Charli, Blake, Alicia/Kayla, Angie, Star, and the rest of the cast are brilliant, and I loved them all- but Poppa John just elevated the whole story for me! There is a wonderful ‘feel good quality to the storyline because of him and the characters and their connection….
There were quite a few funny, lighter moments that helped to balance some of the more intense, heart wrenching and dramatic elements of the storyline. The funny quips and banter had me smiling like an idiot or laughing out loud.
The story is told from several perspectives, which helps to give a more in-depth view of the whole thing.
This isn’t my first book of Ms. Barbour’s, but it is definitely my favourite, so far! I am really looking forward to the next book!
Thank you, Ms. Barbour!
Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6) by Mimi Barbour
5 stars
While this is book 6 of this series, I was able to read this with no problems of feeling like i was lost. They speak of a previous case but this is about a whole new one.
Charli is brought into a dangerous situation by a neighbor, and they must go into hiding.
I wont reveal what happens to cause this as thats part of the story that needs to be read! But I really enjoyed this book for the suspense and getting to see Charli learn about herself. And her Grandfather, what a guy!
Great read, I highly recommend.

What a brilliant read! Fast paced, full of action –I could not put it down. This is also my first read by this author and what an introduction it was! I can’t wait to go and read the rest of the books in this series! The characters in the story were outstanding – I loved everything about them. Charli and Blake were great to read about. Charli was sassy and Blake is one of those characters you love to hate! But as much as loved them Poppa John was just it for me! I adored him!! By far one of my favourite characters!
I am really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!
Burned out and craving a wonderful vacation with her beloved Gramps, special FBI agent Carolina “Charli” Madison is not too pleased when forced to change her plans, in order to protect Alicia, a troubled teenage girl who witnessed a murder. Since the killer is a notorious slippery gun for hire the bureau had their sights on for years, she accepts to protect the girl by pretending to be her step sister. Assigned to asist her is Major Blake Sebastian, who’s supposed to play the role of her ex-fiance. Her sexy fellow cop likes women a lot, but in his mid thirties he doesn’t enjoy his wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am lifestyle as much as he used to. While stuck under the same roof with Charli and Alicia, he begins to appreciate the rewards of settling down. And as the thriller/crime side of the story unfolds, Charli and Blake make a great team against a worthy adversary. All in all, a great read that has a bit of everything, and made me wistfully wish I had a Poppa John in my life, with all his kindness, quirkiness and ageless, non-judgmental humor. It was my first book by, Mimi Barbour, and I have discovered a new favorite author!
Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour is he sixth book in her Undercover FBI series. This whole series can be read as a stand-alone although I won’t be able to stop myself from binge reading the frost 5 books now.
This book should be read, if for nothing else, then for Charli’s Gramps. He is such a great character and I found him so entertaining the whole way through. This guy could carry a book on his own!!
But don’t let this fool you. The whole book was amazing. Charli and Blake are a brilliant combination. They play off each other so well and have a great chemistry. At first it seems like that two won’t get on at all but once they get past each other’s facade then it is easy to see who they will work well together.
The story has everything as well. Action, pace, romance, it checks all the boxes. You get sucked into this story straight away and I found I had to read it all in one sitting as I simply could not put the book down. I had to know what happened next and I constantly found myself saying “just one more chapter…”
This was a great introduction to the series for me – even though it is book six. And I am excited to have five more to jump straight into. A book worth reading.
Mimi Barbour’s Special Agent Charli is the sixth book in the Undercover FBI series. This is the first book that I have read within this suspense series and it was a page-turner. The story immediately dives in and captures your full focus. The author does a firm job of detailing the characters from their personalities, traits and distinct characteristics. Charli is a take charge woman on the verge of something and her world does a 180 degree turn taking her out of her comfort zone and placing her on a path she’s unsure she can handle or control. Adding Blake into the dynamic, all bets are off as personalities clash, emotions flair and chemistry leaks loose. This story fully engulfed me as I read through the chapters – one of those novels that just won’t let go until you finish.
