“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ YES!… entirely captivating, the plot twists at the end had me on the edge of my seat… Mind blown. Do yourselves a favour, READ IT!” Goodreads Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I was happy my husband died, but I couldn’t admit it, otherwise people might think I killed him. BeforeOlivia knows she is lucky. She has a loving husband, Frank, an adorable son, Jake, and a beautiful new home. It couldn’t be … Frank, an adorable son, Jake, and a beautiful new home. It couldn’t be more different from her childhood on the outskirts of Whitaker, dirt poor and dreaming of getting out. But at the end of long days with no one to talk to, always feeling like she’s not quite good enough, she starts to wonder if there’s a better life waiting…
After
Everyone in Whitaker knows who Olivia is. She’s the woman who left her family for no-good Dane Miller, and the one who most likely shot him. Now, there’s gossip about her everywhere she goes, she’s too scared to leave the house most days, and she barely gets to see her beloved son.
But if the police and the world think she’s guilty, there’s only one thing she can do—prove her innocence herself. Even if that means putting her own life in danger…
An absolutely gripping, heart-pounding suspense novel about bad choices and second chances. Perfect for fans of Gone Girl, Karin Slaughter and Lisa Gray.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat as I was reading it. I had a hard time putting it down to do my household chores and I just had to keep coming back to it until it was finished.
Such a great book! Written with a different perspective, well written and enjoyed!
Olivia arrives home to find her husband on the sofa .. dead of a gunshot. They had argued violently the night before … and the police look as her as a prime suspect.
But someone confesses to the crime .. a low level criminal. Olivia can now relax and admit to herself that she’s actually glad her husband is dead. That solves so many problems in her life.
But then the man recants his confession and proof is found that he was nowhere the residence of Olivia. She’s back on the post again.
No one really seems to believe that she had nothing to do with his death .. .not her first husband, his finacee, friends and associates, the police, especially one very determined detective who literally stalks her every move.
So if she didn’t kill him …who did? and why?
The story bounces from Olivia’s life before her husband was killed and then afterwards. Olivia becomes known as the woman who left her family, husband and son, to be with another man.
But if the police and the world think she’s guilty, there’s only one thing she can do—prove her innocence herself. Even if that means putting her own life in danger… And her own investigation comes across a lot of information about her husband … secrets he never shared with her … another life that he kept hidden.
This is a riveting thriller … full of surprises with stand-out characters. Highly suspenseful, especially when a true crime blogger becomes involved. Olivia would do well to remember keep your friends close, your enemies closer. The double-whammy unexpected ending is like icing on the cake. Highly recommend this one!
Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Psychological Thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
I had a difficult time knowing whom to feel sorry for in this book (that’s a good thing). I know that Olivia is supposed to be the sympathetic character, but she consciously made the choices that led to the events of the book. On the other hand, there seemed to be outside factors that were working as well, which kept me off-balance. The author did a nice job of rolling out the background info, which made this a page-turner that I would highly recommend. For a full review, please visit my blog at Fireflies and Free Kicks. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC of the book.
2.5 stars
Some Days are Dark makes some mighty big promises in that subtitle. Sadly, it doesn’t quite deliver for me. The opening line of the book was certainly promising, and I was all set to hunker down and enjoy the read. Now, I will say that the book is well written for the most part. The writing is crisp and sharp, and this one could’ve been at least close to the promise in the subtitle had it not been dragged out quite so far. But it is what it is, and the longer this one went on, the less I wanted to keep pushing through. My biggest problem is that the plot has been done and done again, and it was way too predictable – and yes, that includes what I’m assuming is supposed to be the ‘breathtaking twist.’ Honestly, I think I would’ve enjoyed that twist more had I not been looking for it, but since I was looking for it, I just wound up disappointed. The author does give us some interesting characters in this one. None of them likable, but they are interesting in that looking at a train wreck sort of way. In the end, this one was more domestic drama than anything else. I didn’t get that sense of tension or urgency due to the predictability of it, so I can’t really say that I felt any real suspense or thrills. It’s just too bad that the rest of the book didn’t live up to the terrific opening line.
From the cover of Some Days are Dark to the last page, I loved this book. 4.5 stars for me.
Olivia’s husband is found murdered and she is glad he is dead. The police not so much and guess who the prime suspect is.
The book is told in the before and after.
At the beginning of the book I didnt like Olivia at all but as the pages turned I became her biggest supporter.
I did not guess the ending; twists turns and more murder await you in a fantastic read. Don’t miss this one.
Thanks to Net Galley and Bookoutre for a very intriguing read.
