This is a great, quick read and a break from a lot of politically painted apocalypse books. It moved really well, with a great storyline.
Ms. Shaver has created a wonderful world filled with some great characters
Great read.
loved the characters, loved the story, very good book……..and the story has a beginning, a middle and an end! No more books to buy to find out what happens next! I’m saving this book to my nook cloud!!!
It was a quick read. The plot was typical dystopian fiction with subpar characters. No explanation of how the world become a waterless wasteland. I also was surprised how little water actually was a problem.
Was it all a dream or does the place really exist? Follow the characters on a journey through a country that is desolate and dry. Will they survive or die in the process of finding the “promise land.”
It was a good fast read.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well developed and relatable. I could picture myself in that world, struggling to survive and protect my family, just like the main character. The action was well paced and kept me turning pages long after I should have been in bed. This is a book you don’t want to miss.
This was a very fun book to read. I loved the ending, and you were never sure about how it would turn out until the very end. I kept wanting the characters to do what I thought they should, instead of how the writer portrayed them. Quite enjoyable.
Clean teen read. This is a very good young adult read. Set in the future where water is a scarcity. Our heroine transverses the desert with her friend and younger sister looking for safety from a gang of hooligans.
Scorched was pretty fun, and I might recommend this for young teens, but it won’t stand up to more mature scrutiny. Things happen that are WAY too convenient, some of the dialogue is hackneyed, at best, and the apparently complete lack of editing is offputting.
A perfect blend of action, adventure & sci-fi intrigue. The characters were interesting
and believable. Thoroughly enjoyed this tale.
Very much enjoyed.
Nice quick read. Good character interaction. Kept my attention and had to finish it before I could go to sleep 🙂
Will we reach that point in life. With the way the world is today, one wonders what a natural disaster might bring.
I read this book while experiencing a minor summer drought. It was thought provoking and as a result I became more aware of how I may be wasting our most precious resource, water. I became attached to the main characters easily and hope to read more in this series.
The book was kind of sad until it got going but I really enjoyed it and claudia is a strong character. The interaction with her little sister and the love they shared was very endearing.
Don’t miss this book!
A good story line that makes you want to read a sequel!
This was a good book. The characters were seeking to survive with little water which is a frightening concept. The only thing I would have liked was more explanation of what made the world change.
