A good start for a series. Almost a cliffhanger ending, I dislike strongly cliffy’s. I can’t wait to hear what happens next. It also mentioned some of Salazar’s ancestors. They sound like they should have their own books.
The narrative brings the story to life. I definitely will be listening to it again.

Having read the other Serena McKay books, I was anxious to dig into this new one. Salazar, A Dystopian Fantasy 2121, by Chariss Walker is a fiction novel that reads like it could possibly be a political prophecy. Well written with great characters and a tight, scary plot that echoes what’s wrong with our society right now, this is one of those ‘hard to put down and go to sleep’ books. It points to where we might be headed if we don’t wise up soon, but also gives us a glimmer of hope for the future. Author Chariss Walker does not disappoint.
It took me longer than I’d hoped to read this book, but i have to say, it was even better than I’d hoped it would be. This book has a fantastic message, especially in the time we’re living, with this pandemic that’s hit, with the political craziness going on, and with everyone having lost their ever-loving minds! Broadly, this book is about a very dystopian life, a small group of individuals coming together and bringing more people together, and growing into a greater utopian life. It’s not without its hardships, and this one book clearly doesn’t tell the whole story. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series. Each of the initial group of individuals has certain gifts, or abilities, that helps them to grow and create their new society. I hate giving spoilers, so that’s all you get from me, but I’ll say that this is what most people of today would kinda consider going back in time to a less “modern” lifestyle than we live now. I, for one, would find it refreshing to live in this society! Thanks for this wonderful glimpse into the story world you’ve created! I hope many will read and consider our current actions and how we can change to create a better life with what we have!!
This book will knock your socks off! The author has written a dystopian Fantasy that is too close to the truth. She manages to combine all the genres she is noted for–metaphysical-pure fantasy-and every other one. You may or may not notice as the story will keep you reading. I found myself thinking–gosh–I hope this is not prophetic!! I could see a lot of what is happening today turning into what happens in the book.
There is a cliff hanger at the end which will have you wanting to read more of what happens as the survivors try to form a new society!!
I really think that this may be for adults only–but if your pre teen or teen wants to read it–you read it first!!
This is my first time reading anything by this author, I was pulled to read the book via the blurb. I like the writing style and the plot along with some interesting characters. The author does have a nice writing style so that I was able to picture the scenes as they unfolded. I’d happily read more from this author in the future.

I am not quite certain whether to characterize this as satire, dystopia, or the more things change, the more they remain the same. In any case, it will take a full day to read this PG13 apocalypse tale.
