In this second part, we find Vargr upset with Cyn, she shot him! Rutger is taking up the slack with their bond-mating and keeping the Lure from getting to Cyn, with dirty, hot sex. Cyn has been tried and pronounced innocent of killing who they thought they saw her kill. There is a lot of confusion about what exactly Cyn is and what she’s capable of and Cyn herself is just as clueless. The rag-tag bunch are on a mission now to find Big Daddy, Little Mo’s home base. There is also a mystery about Willow and Maura too, so the next installment of the Beast Hoarde should have all the answers we are waiting for. Cyn is the next book and I can’t wait to find out all the answers to all my questions and to see what deviant sex techniques the bond mates come up with to keep the Lure from getting Cyn
I love me a good horned beaster…..
Hot, dirty, wicked, filthy, depraved, witty and snarky, all tied up (or should that be bound) with whatever chains, rope or suitable material is to hand. Rutger continues the story of Cyn and her two beasters, with the same great world building, crazy pop culture references, perverted sex scenes and brilliant fast-paced plot that we found in Vargr.
The story telling is outstandingly amazing, I never expect anything less from Cari Silverwood truth be told. Her characters are so believable, but more than that they say/think exactly the same thoughts that pop into my head as the plot unfolds. Her writing keeps me gripped from start to finish and never ceases to amaze me with it’s ingenuity, it’s uniqueness and it’s sheer brilliance.
There are so many massively signposted easter eggs, but try as I might my poor brain couldn’t interpret them until the end, when I had one of those huge “oh my word, now I get it and I’m embarrassed because it’s now so obvious” moments. My advice is to pay attention to anything red. It’s also one of the most brilliant plot twists (devices?) I’ve read in a long time, coming from so far out of the left field that it took me totally by surprise.
We fell in love with Vargr in the last book, for me Rutger really got a chance to shine in this one. As another wise reader mentioned (I’m looking at you Gabriela!) this pair are “both sides of the same coin”. Cut from the same cloth but sewn together in slightly different ways. Vargr is quieter, more restrained and deep thinking, which can make him appear a little remote, Rutger is more open, more free in his emotions, less repressed and seems to just “get” Cyn. However both of them have a seriously kinky streak, that also runs (slightly?) on the gleefully sadistic side. Which is fantastic because it leads to some very, very scorchingly hot sexy times.
I’m now waiting very impatiently for the last book, Cyn.
Holy smokes this 2nd book by Cari in the Beast Horde series was so wickedly good. This picks up where in the first book left off with Cyn on trial and things aren’t looking good and even Vargr is non to happy with her as well, but leave it to Cari to throw in a life saver after all it is her story to tell and all I can say is you need to read this series to find out what happens next. There’s more monsters, sexcapades and even more twists if that’s even possible
loved this one just so much this series really is a great read that I recommend highly especially if you like some sizzle with your sci-fi.
So we start this just after the events of the previous book and that dramatic fallout.
Cyn is on trial for her actions and it isn’t looking good for her at all.
On top of all that Vargr is not a happy beaster, he is feeling massively betrayed and hurt by Cyn actually shooting him and he’s holding a big fat grudge.
Luckily Rutger is there to pick up the slack in that department especially since the Lure is hovering just offside ready to whisper in Cyn’s ear, so thank god for Rutger is all I can say.
This story sees a ragtag crew along with Rutger Vargr and Cyn head out to locate Big Daddy hoping to discover more about there original origins to help assist them in there fight against the Ghoul Lords.
So just like the previous book the world-building and imagination expanded creating this diverse post-apocalyptic backdrop was excellent.
Fast-paced and so original this managed to keep me glued throughout.
There is just the right balance here between the action, the emotional and the erotic and this one definitely brought along the heat factor, in fact, the thermostat was cranked right up to the maximum with this.
We get to know Rutger so much better here and I now feel equally connected to all three bond-mates, I feel they now work together collectively as a unit and seem to have taken their trio to a whole new level.
Got to say I am totally adoring the dominant control vibe we have here the forced fantasy vibe is so bloody hot.
You are most definitely going to need a cold shower after reading this.
So I loved where this eventually took us and also that end reveal really explained a lot.
This author has managed to construct a fabulously complex world without massive info-dump, not an easy task at all.
Really looking forward to the concluding part of this a big thumbs up from my camp.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Rutger (Beast Horde #2).

WOW!!!!! I loved this Book!!! Rutger and Vargr together is so amazing!! I liked the spiritual things that Rutger would say also the funny things but the chemistry between those three was something else!!! I won’t tell what happened because you just have to read this but it was amazingly HOT!!!!! Cari did her thing on this!!! I can not wait for Cyn!!!!!
Rutger is the second book in the Beast Horde series. Cyn’s story continues.
We are back in Cari Silverwood’s wondrous made up world. Cyn shot Vargr at the end of the first book. Vargr is feeling hurt by Cyn’s actions. Also, Cyn is now on trial, which she is cleared of the wrong doing. Now the search is on for “Big Daddy” a home station for Little Mo (Cyn’s robo critter). They are also still fighting ghoul lords.
We have a few twists – What is Cyn? Hopefully we find out in the next book Titled Cyn. Which is the conclusion to this Trilogy. Now I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens with Cyn, Vargr & Rutger!
Now for the warning and I am going to copy this from my review for Vargr.
Cari Silverwood’s books are not for everyone. They are some of the darkest books that I have read. So if you don’t like dark/kinky/sci-fi books, well hopefully you get the gist.
This is the second Beast Horde book. It can not be read as a standalone you have to read Varge to understand any of it. This is a dystopian/post-apocalyptic story, it also fits in the dark romance, scifi romance, alien invasion, captive, D/S catagories. I cant wait to read the next one, these cliffhangers are killing me but it’s totally worth it
There is so much action going on in Rutger, the second book of the Beast Horde series! It opens with Cyn being held as a prisoner awaiting a hearing for having wounded and killed some beasters accidentally in the process of shooting one of the enemy Ghoul Lords, Avidex, after he had invaded the beasters’ compound. Her bond-mate Vargr was one of those she unintentionally wounded. His anger wounds her in return. He finds he cannot be around her or trust her. She is cleared of murder charges at the hearing but many beasters still distrust her.
Answers to critical questions still evade the group that Vargr, Cyn and Rutger are staying with in the Worshipper Quarter, which is Rutger’s home. What makes the beasters what they are; what exactly IS the difference between Cyn and the rest of the group? Is she a weapon that can be brought to bear against the evil Ghoul Lords, or has she been compromised unknowingly by the evil ones? A group of beasters from this Quarter, plus Cyn and her bond-mates have decided to set off on a “road trip” through the hazardous radiation zone to locate an important resource they hope will give them answers.
I love this series! Love the characters so hard, both Cyn, the badass scourge of evil, and her two fierce beaster bond-mates, Vargr and Rutger. Cyn is strong and feisty. Sometimes she’s a little too quick to jump into trouble, but her intentions are the highest for this devastated world and for her comrades, and she is one awe-inspiring avenging angel (or is that ‘fallen’ angel?). Rutger and Vargr are powerful warriors; they are her protectors, and they’re also two lusty demigods. The three of them do have some blazing hot, s*xy scenes together—dang, I wish I was her! I can’t wait for the 3rd book (entitled Cyn)! Five stars for Rutger.
Rutger is the second book in Ms. Silverwood’s Beast Horde series, and if you haven’t read Vargr, the first book, you should do so (Amazon) This book leaves off right after the events of the last book. Cyn finds herself in hot water after shooting Vargr – who’s not so happy about the whole thing as it is.
Luckily, Cyn has two things on her side, she has Rutger her believes she’s more innocent than cranky Vargr does and she has Little Mo on her side. So they set off to find Little Mo’s AI boss Big Daddy
Cari does it again by weaving an exotic story that you just can’t put down. This is not a standalone and you have to read Vargr first, but you won’t be sorry. She does an incredible job with this book and I cannot wait until the next book.
Initial reaction…enjoyed every second of this book very much. You will not be disappointed at all. Will have to come back later when I have more time to leave a longer review.
What can I say? I loved Vargr, and the way it ended had me desperate for Rutger to see what came next, and Cari did not disappoint. I have a soft spot for post apocalyptic style stories to begin with and the fact Cari has built one and given it eroticism as well as adventure and mystery just leaves me wanting more and more and more. As always, her writing is not for the faint of heart, as it’s dark at times, dirty at others, but those who like some wild in their world, and enjoy science fiction and post apocalyptic themes, this may just be for you. It was definitely for me. I love Cyn with her very realistic confusion and I think I like Rutger more then Vargr as we move along in the story. They make a very solid trio of fun, flawed heroic types. I can’t wait for book three to be released!
My favorite thing about this author is the way she can take any genre and make it her own. When you read as much as I do, books can start sounding the same. You know the trope, can guess at future events, and the only thing that changes are the character names. That won’t happen with any of Cari’s books. Each one is fresh and exciting, and will take everything you expect to happen and toss it on its head. Her worlds are complex and detailed enough to “see”. Her characters are complex and have hidden talents, fears, and desires that come to light slowly, as the story progresses. Her words are magical and easily transport me out of my own world and in to hers. I also love that she isn’t afraid to take chances and follow wherever the story takes her. It gives them this spontaneous feel that I don’t find with most other authors. I highly recommend any and all of her books.
This is the second book in the Beast Horde series, and it picks up right where the first one ended. It’s dark, dirty, and will keep your heart racing from beginning to end. Cyn is still one of my favorite female characters, and her kick-a** personality keeps things interesting. The relationship between Cyn, Vargr, and Rutger is still one that is full of uncertainties and that keeps things even more interesting. The mission is also getting more intense and the unknowns are too many to count. Everything is just “more” and I still can’t get enough. I’m excited to see how this one plays out, and I know that however it ends it won’t be what I was expecting (other than the HEA, of course).
This is the second book in the series and I do recommend reading them in order. Cyn story continues, she is on trial for what she did and her mate, Vargr is unhappy with her actions. Which I can understand, she did shoot him. Rutger is there to pick up the slack with Cyn while Vargr is unhappy. They continue on their search and try to discover what is happening to Cyn. Will they discover what Cyn truly is and can her two beastie mates keep her under control? Fast-paced read with loads of twists and turns, amazing world building and great characters. Draws you in from beginning to end. I loved it.
Such Sexy Beasties!!!
Another freaking amazing post-apocalyptic story from such a phenomenal author. Cari Silverwood loves to titillate and shock her readers. She drops us down a rabbit whole of depraved, dirty and debauched worlds, which are absolutely fantastic in their imagery and sinfulness.
Cyn, Vargr and Rutger’s story is intense and thrilling. Cyn is still trying to learn what exactly she is and how much of a kickass woman she can be. Vargr and Rutger can’t keep their hands of her! They are infatuated and completely captivated by her. The three of them together is mind-blowing and explosive. There are a whole lot of very inventive and very steamy interactions between them. When Vargr and Rutger feel that Cyn needs some very special attention, they don’t hold back. So many panty-melting and kindle combustible moments. I loved them all!!!
The story is very gripping and captivating. It kept me on the edge of my seat not knowing what was going to happen next! I can’t wait for the conclusion of this intense story.
Ahhhhh, back to epic giant peen and post-apocalyptic sexcapades. Cari Silverwood is pretty depraved, dirty, and debauched, and so are her worlds. But the thing is, that even with all the debauchery that happens, there is a heckuva story going on in here.
Cyn, Vargr, and Rutger’s story is compelling. This one picks up where the last one left off, so we aren’t really missing any time in between the two books, which is always nice. Everyone is still trying to figure out what to do about Cyn, because no one is really sure who she is or what she might be doing. Vargr is not standing by her, which may or may not be justified. I’m still not sure on that one. Luckily, there’s Rutger.
I have to say, I like Rutger a whole lot more than I like Vargr. That’s not to say that I don’t like Vargr, but Rutger is just more practical, I think. There’s just something… more about him. I want to say that Cyn maybe likes him more too, but maybe I’m just projecting my feelings onto Cyn. She’s still pretty kick butt, and I think that she’s going to just get moreso.
I can’t wait for more of this story. I’m just hanging, by my fingernails, on the side of a building.
I’m out of breath after reading book two in Silverwood ‘s Beast Horde series. It has more excitement, more beasts, more sex, more reveal and more delightful references to cultural things that didn’t make it to the apocalypse. This story starts up directly after the end of book one, so I would suggest reading book one first.
Rutger is the beast from the Worshipper tribe, and for me, he’s one of the most interesting. We learn he was in many foster homes that taught him religion in many forms. He makes a couple of fascinating statements.
“They know not the power in their hands. Are these the new gods we were looking for?”
“Those who the gods would destroy, they first make mad.”
They have obvious biblical references, and Silverwood mentions the Doctrine of Logical Gods. It brings up interesting thoughts for me. Could God have sent these Ghoul Lords to Earth to start over? An arc of sorts? Did he sacrifice millions to save a few? Are the beasts an aberration of nature? Fake Gods ready to destroy the word of God? I’m not overly religious, but that one sentence brings questions of justice and humanity in a ruined world. And believe it or not, it also brings to mind Neil Gaiman’s masterpiece American Gods. That magical story was essentially about new Gods taking over from the old ones. It’s a nuanced story worth reading if you haven’t already.
Silverwood has excelled with world building here, painting a vivid landscape of everything from teetering skyscrapers to humans falling to their death.
“They trudged in a ragged column across this uneven terrain. The ting and rattle of equipment, murmur of voices, and the crunch of tires and beaster feet merged into a surreal gothic orchestral theme. Moonlight strained down through the gaps.”
“Huge buttresses of semi-destroyed building supports rose above, sketching out lacework arches and jagged spears where buildings should be—diabolically teetering towers of barely there concrete and steel. Pieces could drop onto their heads at any random moment. ”
You can feel the character’s fear and adrenaline as they walk through treacherous paths, waiting for the worse to happen. You will cry with the characters as they mourn the dead or injured. You will NEED to know what they desperately want to know. Where do they come from? Why are they so different from each other? You will get this answer in this book even though there is a book three planned.
Silverwood smirks at her audience by mentioning Lord of the Rings, Cards Against Humanity and Hunger Games. Plus, did you know sex shops will survive the end of the world? Phew!
The sex scenes were hot as sin, but more importantly, they cement the bond between Cyn, Rutger and Vargr. As Cyn changes, her men help her every step of the way. And sex is important in the apocalypse, as Cyn muses:
“He and Rutger were her cures, the Holders of the Sacred Cum, to prevent the Lure taking her.”
I recommend reading to find out what happens to the good guys, the bad guys and one crazy threesome.
This is book 2 in the Beast Horde Trilogy. It is HOT, dirty and wicked. It is also filled with intrigue, bloody battles, friendships, acceptance of physiological differences, and love.
The human and beasts decide to search for “Big Daddy” to possibly discover their origins. Who are they? Is each one separate and unique? What is their purpose? Can they find a way to band together to conquer the Ghoul Lords? Will anyone survive? I cannot wait for the third book to discover the answers.
We’re back with the Beast Horde versus the Ghoul Lords, with new revelations and discoveries. It’s another fantastic journey with this ragtag family of sorts. This was Rutger’s book, and that beast is fine!! But Vargr still played an equally big part in it. Rutger is playing the peacemaker with Vargr and Cyn, who are angry with each other. I thought Vargr was a little harsh, but he felt what he felt, going on his knee-jerk reaction. We find out more about Cyn and the pain she suffers as she keeps tapping into the Lure. And amidst the battle to stay alive, the three of them grow closer and the sex gets wild. But this cliffhanger! I’m on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next!
“This world was full of uncertainties. Worry when things landed in your lap, not before. ”
And Cyn has reason to worry!
This is book 2 in the trilogy. It is not standalone.
“No matter how big and strong one might be, feelings existed. Everyone hurt.”
I am still a bit mad at Varg. I firmly stand with my belief that he overreacted! I get how he is viewing Cyn’s actions but still – Pull your head out and take a moment to look at the whole picture -you big meanie!
Cyn did what came as instinct and everyone was so quick to judge and turn on her.
Easier to destroy what we don’t understand.
Yeah, I’m a bit mad, at Willow as well.
I don’t want to give spoilers a lot happens in this episode. Some good, some sad, some pretty fricking on the edge ‘OMG’ heart in my throat moments.
Want to toss in here that we get to meet some new characters. One whom I like a whole lot. He is a rock-solid kind of guy.
The journey for our little heroine is only getting tougher both physically and emotionally. As secrets are revealed and the enemy finds new ways to get smarter (this is awesome by the way!) things take a drastic turn and not for the better.
I am eager to see what happens next
I read a comp copy previous to final edits. Will update after release
Rutger is delicious!!
I must say that this series just gets hotter and better! Rutger is the glue in this relationship, he nicely balances a slight immaturity in Vargr and Cyn’s impulsiveness.
He will need to do that and more as they all head of into more danger to find answers for Cyn
This quest will be bathed in blood, fear, uncertainty, distrust, conflict, lust, discoveries, forgiveness and lot and lots and lots of Lure blocking bodily fluids!
Their enemies determination to find revenge has allowed it to morph into a more dangerous adversay who wants Cyn above all else and will do anything to get her. There are battles, death, destruction and loss and yet our ragtag trio has grown closer to each other and the group as a whole, new friendships, and alliances help them survive and find answers but the biggest battle is yet to come. Changes inside and out will affect all. Who will be left standing at the end?
