A tragic incident turns him into a hero… but what if all the unwanted attention leads him back into old, dark habits?Terrible mistakes in Jacob Starr’s youth made him disappear far away from those he loved most, while leaving behind the only decent thing he’d ever created in his life, his son. Arriving recently in River’s End, Luna Castellanos is looking for a new life and career but what she … for a new life and career but what she finds, is soon based on something she never intended: infamy.
After she and Jacob unwillingly become heroes in a tragedy that has the nation’s attention, she can’t find the strength to be the hero everyone claims her to be. Instead, she feels frozen in her anxiety and lost to the person she once was. But the only one who understands this, and therefore her, is Jacob Starr. It creates a bond between them that is quick, strong, and honest, with a chemistry that is much more far reaching than the one tragic moment they share.
Jacob’s new status as a hero confounds and confuses him. But someone finally needs him, and only him. Heady stuff for a man who no one has ever needed or wanted. Luna has become the only person in the world to see him as their friend, confident, protector, and yes, hero. A roll that he cherishes. But once Luna learns of his past, will she still be able to look at him as her hero, or will she finally see him like everyone else?

This book had so much heart. It was about finding yourself when those who should care for you let you slip through the cracks. It’s finding “family” to give you a hand up no questions asked. It’s being treated unfairly because you are different. It’s those that love you no matter how the world sees you.
I have read every single book in the River’s End Series and they were all great, but River’s Winter is by far my favorite! Jacob Starr has been through a lot in his adult life. Luna Castellanos came to River’s End for a fresh start. One horrific and terrifying event will bring them together and they both find the happiness they didn’t know they wanted.
Wyatt Kincaid was a football star in college and now has taken his talent to college but soon he discovers that anything can happen and he struggles with dealing with an unexpected event. He is finally at peace with his parents taking in Wesley Abbott into their family and his friendship with his ex-girlfriend Dani Dawson is stronger than ever. When his parents take in Wesley’s friend, Jacey Walker, he finds himself intrigued by her.
Jacey Walker grew up in foster homes and was able to forge a strong friendship with Wesley. After escaping group homes she got into an abusive relationship until money from Wesley was able to send her money to escape to Wesley.
Slowly Jacey and Wyatt forged a friendship but Jacey doesn’t believe she is capable of making something of herself due to her background. When Jacey forms a friendship with a boy names Hans she sees an immediate change in Wyatt.
Will Wyatt open up to Jacey about how he feels before it’s too late?
This is another great book in the series and I really liked learning more about Wyatt.
I knew something bad at happened with Wyatt but I had no idea if he was responsible for something or what. The whole event broke my heart and I hated how he kept everything in but I was happy that he also never let it get in his way. I loved seeing Wyatt at college and meeting his roommates and I loved that he really wasn’t a huge party guy.
Jacey was so incredible and I loved how powerful she was for leaving her ex-boyfriend. Jacey struggled with her own identity to a certain degree as she didn’t believe she was “smart” enough for the world. I loved how she slowly gained her own confidence and became a different person as she believed in herself.
I absolutely loved the friendship between Jacey and Wyatt and how they each learned so much from one another. I loved how protective Wyatt was over Jacey, especially when he learned about her past and what she had been through. I loved that Jacey read Crime and Punishment and she began to see everything that she was capable of. I thought the growth in her was so good and I liked that she began to challenge herself.
I wondered about Wyatt’s hatred towards Hans and to me it made sense but it was so awkward that Jacey was unknowingly stuck in the middle. I really wanted Wyatt to open up to Jacey earlier as she really would have understood why he was so upset. I did a super happy dance when Jacey and Wyatt began to figure out everything that they wanted in terms of each other.
I liked that Jacey was able to make some sense of peace of her past yet I was freaking out a little at what was going to happen at the end of the book. I also really loved what Wyatt did at the end of the book and was able to regain some power over the past events!
My first time reading a book about a drug addict from their perspective. It was different and interesting. The stigma that Jacob went through and still goes through, not to go back to that addiction is amazing. Then in comes Luna and this terrible shooting. A very heart breaking and emotional story. A wonderful book.
This is book 2 in the Son series by Leanne Davis. I highly recommend to read book 1 Wesley. These 2 stories intermix and you will see both views and know more of whats going on. When you start tonrrad book 2, you will know who everyone is and how they work together. This book was emotional. Wyatt has an experience while he is away at college. When he comes back home everyone notices how he is different and he keeps telling himself to just push it down. Then comes Jacey. She was a kid in the system and since she turn 18 they let her go. The only person she could count in was her friend Wesley. So she seeks him out and meets these wonderful peopel, the Kincaids. I loved this story. It will suck you in because you want to know what happened.
Oh wow. I think I ran out of words, phrases and compliments for Leanne Davis’s books. This author always leaves me speechless and coming back for more again and again. This book was an emotional read for me and I simply could not put it down. A fantastic book and highly recommended.
I loved this book! Wyatt’s story really comes to life in this book. We learn why he was acting the way he did in the first book, and it all makes perfect sense now! I fell in love with him in this one! He goes through something do devastatingly heartbreaking, and it takes a toll in him, but through his love and friendship with Jacey he overcomes it, AND gets his HEA!!!
I love theses books when I think there is no way to better the last one she does it. This one is about Jacob. He has so much to fix and he isn’t really welcomed back home with open arms. The road he has to take comes with being in the right place and this helps him get on the right path to fixing the mess he left. Throw some Action, drama and some hot steamy scene you have one heck of a story..
Jacob finally gets his act together, comes back and ends up as a co-hero during a mass shooting at the local cafe. He and Luna, the cafe owner, stop the lunatic and have to deal with being a hero and the horrors of being a witness and survivor. The two become friends Jacob finally gets his act together and come back and ends up as a co-hero during a mass shooting at the local cafe. He and Luna, the cafe owner, stop the lunatic and have to deal with being a hero and the horrors of being a witness and survivor. The two become friends because they understand what each other is feeling and going through. As the press gets hungrier for stories Jacob is afraid of how Luna will feel about him when it comes out about his past.
This is an emotional read. It had me ugly crying a time or two. It has action, suspense, drama, some hot steamy scenes and redemption. This is a must read.
This was a very emotional read!! Neither of the characters are perfect and have imperfections that are easy to relate to. The writing is so well done that you feel as if you are living the lives of Wyatt and Jacey as you read the story. Both have had hardships, yet they find a way to come out on top in the end. Leanne Davis is a master at writing a powerful story with all the feels.
Wow talk about emotions and some real tears when Jacob Comes back after so many years he doesn’t realize he could be a hero to a new girl Luna but why? And why is she so timid? His family will they forgive him for all his transgressions and will our Jacob finally get his happy ever after?
The Kincaids come to the rescue again. A loving and trusting family with hearts so big, it’ll make your heart melt. The story of Wyatt and Jacey will pull at your heartstrings, so emotional, but what they went through really does happen. How the Author manages to co-ordinate the story line between the first book in this series (Wesly) and this 2nd book (Wyatt) is simply amazing. The minute you start reading Wyatt, you know exactly who the other characters are and it makes for great reading. I read this Author’s 10 book Rivers End Series and I loved every book in the series, yes I did have my favorites though. The way Leanne Davis tells her stories will captivate you from the start. Thank you!
Warning!!!! Major tear jerker!!! This was intense, scary, romantic, harsh, suspenseful, etc. I loved each and every one of the books in this series but this one was just wow…I cried for Jacob and Luna and I cried for this being the last book in the Rivers End series. Leanne Davis is a true artist with her books. I highly recommend all her work but definitely this series. 10 STARS!!!!!
Just the absolute best story. Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!
Wyatt
Wyatt is a book is one that I did not expect to take the turns it did. Jacey and Wyatt find support through experiences together and find love. Wyatt faces discrimination at the highest levels. I applaud Davis for bringing the ugly topic to light. It is a great story of self discovery after a horrible experience.
