A #1 Wall Street Journal bestseller. From New York Times bestselling author Patricia Cornwell comes Ripper: The Secret Life of Walter Sickert, a comprehensive and intriguing exposé of one of the world’s most chilling cases of serial murder—and the police force that failed to solve it.Vain and charismatic Walter Sickert made a name for himself as a painter in Victorian London. But the ghoulish … painter in Victorian London. But the ghoulish nature of his art—as well as extensive evidence—points to another name, one that’s left its bloody mark on the pages of history: Jack the Ripper. Cornwell has collected never-before-seen archival material—including a rare mortuary photo, personal correspondence and a will with a mysterious autopsy clause—and applied cutting-edge forensic science to open an old crime to new scrutiny.
Incorporating material from Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper—Case Closed, this new edition has been revised and expanded to include eight new chapters, detailed maps and hundreds of images that bring the sinister case to life.
Note: This book contains images that some readers may find disturbing.

Interesting premise, but I understand that others have denounced it for several reasons. Still, we don’t know who Jack the Ripper was, and this is at least thought-provoking.
I love the way Patricia Cromwell writes. Ripper was a thoroughly researched.
She convinced me that W .R. Sickert was in fact the Ripper of White Chapel, England. The illustrations in her book are vivid and sometimes mysterious.
I hope she continues writing about unexplained homicides.
not as good as her other books.
Patricia Cornwell- always worth reading!
Enjoyable- perhaps educational??
I like her as an author. This is a book about who she thinks is jack-the-ripper. Interesting information she has pulled together
Very interesting but slow developing.
This is a well-researched book and it shows. Cornwell leads us through the facts of the murders and comes to a conclusion which is, basically, unexpected. She presents solid evidence to prove her point. I cannot give any other hypotheses to these myrders other than those presented in this book.
Slow, repeats same facts and conjecture, sad effort….
This book was so boring that I quit reading it. UGH!
Too technical
Terrific, as are all of her writings.
Classic Patricia Cornwell. I love her writing, highly recommend
Interesting view.
Excellent book! I highly recommend this book, it was well written, laid out as best as possible with the info available then. Her new book, The Secret Life of Walter Sicker, is excellent and she has paintings, letters from the Ripper, I letters from Sickert , doodles; much more info to go through. If you like Patricia Cornwall read these books.
Excellent research, making a very strong case!
Intense and goes into great detail but the argument is well constructed to make her case.
Love her writing,.all her book worth reading.
Not up to her usual standards. Woedy and a little teduious!
One of my favorite authors.
It was informative but a bit long winded, dry, and clinical.
