This book was very long, but very good! I have a lot of respect and admiration for the Jewish people, and a great deal of disgust and repulsion for the horrors they suffered through. I think we need books like this so that no one ever forgets!
I am glad I read this book. it was terrifying at times. I always thought how awful this time was for people living in Europe especially Jews. I knew people hid but this book really let you know what people had to do to survive. She and her husband had to live in horrible conditions, go without food for long periods, give up their baby. They were constantly being betrayed and used. In the end she, her husband and her baby made it through the horror.
This book described the dehumanization of Jews during the Holocaust from a first person viewpoint. It described how ordinary people became monsters and how inhumane behavior was normalized. It is a reminder that it could happen to you, or me, or the people we love.
This happens to be a subject that people feel never happened. I have been to Aushwitz/Birkenau, believe me it occurred, horribly so. If we aren’t aware it will happen again.
If we don’t read the stories of people who have lived through such horrors, we will be doomed to repeat those awful acts on more innocent people. Read. Learn. Avoid repetition.
Excellent historical memorialization of the suffering of Jewish and others during WWII. Amazing tale of survival against impossible odds.
Whenever you are feeling down or some self pity, read a couple of pages from this book and you will realize how easy you have it.
Great read for all ages. Very informative and so well written.
First person eyewitness account of the Holocaust.
This is a great book to get a picture of the horrible things the jews in Germany during world war II went through. It is horribly sad.
A very concise 1st person account of atrocities enacted on the Polish Jewish community from 1938- 1945. I would have loved a second book telling us of their lives in Venezuela and the USA. The photos included are a plus. A Very courageous family
SOOOOOOO dry & boring. I couldn’t get past the first 2 chapters – AND I really tried, because the content interests me. This reads like a freaking textbook, not AT ALL engaging for the reader.
It makes me want to speak Polish to read the original.
This is an excellent account of the Nazi horrors!
Great story and characters.
