USA TODAY BESTSELLER • The offseason is heating up for one Carolina Cold Fury heartbreaker who’s eager to make nice with the girl next door. No one plays like Reed Olson, whether it’s hockey season or not. After back-to-back NHL championships, he’s craving a little R&R. Reed leans to a specific type—blond, busty, and interested—and fortunately he has a little black book full of options. So … book full of options. So why is it he can’t stop dreaming about the new girl who just moved in next door? A certified brainiac, she seems to want nothing to do with the hard-bodied athlete.
Josie Ives desperately needs something her celebrity neighbor obviously doesn’t: solitude. Reed is everything she imagined—a little too good-looking, with a body that puts Greek gods to shame. But she didn’t expect he would also be funny and charming. Josie knows she’s the opposite of his type, and that’s fine with her. Still, the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their newfound friendship certainly has its benefits, but she’s starting to wonder if opposites really do attract.
Praise for Reed

“I’m seeing Josie through unfiltered eyes and I like everything that I’m seeing.”
I don’t pretend to NOT be a Sawyer Bennett fan. I have read all of her books. I have loved them all. She is just that author for me. In general, she is an easy getaway; a guaranteed good read for me each time. You can go into this review with that knowledge, but please understand…..her words are worthy and I am speaking from the heart when I say this was such a good read. I enjoyed this one very much!
For being the tenth book in a series about Hockey Players, you would think this machoism would be boring by now, right? Played out, easily, right?! Well….no. Not this time. For my favorite sports series, Sawyer Bennett has made each book individually captivating, yet perfectly suited for an ongoing series. I love this series. Love it. So it’s no secret that this book will leave me smiling in my review. One thing I want to point out is the ease in which she transitions from friends to lovers; it was effortless. I couldn’t help but smile the entire time I was reading this story, all while they were letting their guard down and falling for each other. I loved this part of it!
This one was a little sweeter, a little softer hitting than the others, though. But, don’t get me wrong. Reed was ALL man and divinely sexy, but I loved that his insecurities were actually recognized and REAL. Was he a manwhore? Well, yes….he’s a freaking hockey player that just won his second championship. Did we see these man-whorish ways….again, yes. We have to set up the story, right? But, a rehab’d playboy? Sounds cliché, doesn’t it? Well, leave it it SB to make this story a little more in depth; a little deeper when it comes to the heart! Because she did one helluva job on it too. I loved seeing this change in him; his own realizations that she is worth more than just a one night stand. I cannot tell you how much I loved reading that side to his story.
How do you change your image from playboy to a worthy man in a relationship? How do you convince her she’s the one to change you? When it’s so cliché, how exactly do you convince her? I realize this trope can be cliché, but the way Sawyer Bennett endears us to her characters, it sure makes it easier. Basically, when she makes her characters so relatable and makes us fall in love with the real man that they are, not just the outward appearances he chooses to share publicly, but the real him, we fall in love harder, faster, and deeper. Pun intended?
Ahem….and the setup for Marek’s story was ON POINT!!! Make sure to add this one to your TBR or PREORDER it.
“No particular cadence. no metaphorical rhyme or physical reason why it feels so good. It’s just. . . love.”

“Put a muzzle on Screaming Barbie.”
The author had me laughing out loud in the first chapter of Reed and totally invested from the get-go. I devoured this latest installment in the Cold Fury Hockey series in one sitting, unable to put it down.
Reed & Josie are a perfect example of the opposites attract theory. His tastes run to what she calls Barbie dolls, the tall, blonde and stacked variety. She’s witnessed his neverending supply coming and going and has started labeling them #ScreamingBarbie #CarbieBarbie #FashionistaBarbie #DitzyBarbie, etc… She’s not threatened by them, she just can’t get any sleep with all the noise and headboard banging coming from the bedroom next door. She’s an ER Physician and works 12+ hour shifts, she needs her sleep. When she knocks on his door at 1:00 AM to complain he’s highly amused by her snark. He’s mentally agreeing with her description of the blonde currently standing naked behind him. She’s nothing like what he’s drawn to in a sexual way, but she seems like she’d be a lot of fun to hang out with as a friend.
Josie is not intimidated by Reed’s celebrity status because she doesn’t even own a television. Since she’s not trying to draw his attention, she just takes it in stride when she gets it. She finds their friendly banter amusing and she doesn’t pull any punches when she teases him about his Barbies. When he sees her coming home late and offers to share his pizza they become buds. Since she is not his type, being short with brown hair and a brain, she is not expecting more. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t appreciate his physical perfection and have fantasies about being the girl in the bed that’s banging against the wall.
It was a delicious delight watching this cute couple argue with themselves and each other. Of course, I knew that they would eventually give up and give in. It was so fun anticipating how and when that would happen. I can’t get enough of this series, and I hope it keeps going forever. The author teased me mercilessly by giving me a glimpse into the future regarding another #HockeyHottie and I’m excited to get to know him and the lady in his future better. The line forms here…
This is the 10th book in the Cold Fury Hockey series and we learn more about Reed Olson. While it is off season, Reed wants to relax and spend time with the ladies and many of them fill his nights. One night there is a knock on his door and the woman on the other side captors his full attention. Something about his neighbor makes him want to spend more time with her. Reed finds Josie smart, sexy, funny and her being a doctor makes him want to get to know her better.
Josie Ives is an ER doctor and loves her job, but when she works a long shift she just wants to come home and sleep. She doesn’t want to hear her neighbor with his “Barbie-like” dates. When she knocks on Reed’s door to tell him so, she didn’t realize that her neighbor was such a looker. No wonder he had all those dates. She finds herself laughing at his cute jokes and wanting to spend time with him, as friends of course.
Can Reed and Josie take their relationship from friends to friends with benefits? Will Reed lose Josie when her ex-boyfriend comes back to town? Will they see that love and a little fun is all they need?
I love the Cold Fury men and Reed was great and I can’t wait for Marek’s story, who might just steal my heart.

LOOOOOOOOOVE THIS SERIES!!!!
Reed is the 10th book in the Cold Fury series. Some would think that by book 10 a series might be getting old. NOPE, it is getting BETTER!!!!!!
Reed and Josie….sigh. I love these two. The chemistry between these two practically set my Kindle on fire. I read this book in one sitting, I just could not put it down, I just kept flipping pages until I read the last work. Then I was pissed because I finished it, I wanted it to just go on and on. But that happens when ever I read one of the books in the series. I LOVE the fact that we get to see what some of the previous characters are doing. I guess that is why I love reading this series. I fall for all of the characters and I ALWAYS want to know more. Yeah, I guess I am a stalker in a way….. But da…rn I love these guys.
I discovered this phenomenal series and author thru NetGalley when I read Zack the 3rd book in this series and I have been a fan ever since of both the series and the author.
I was gifted with a copy of this wonderful book for my reading pleasure and it most definitely enjoyed it and I wanted to tell you why.
I helped you make the decision to purchase this wonderful book. Now, what are you waiting for, go hit that one-click button!!!
Thank you for reading my review.
I always look forward to another Sawyer Bennett Cold Fury book. So far this series has been one fantastic book after another. Reed’s story did not disappoint. Reed was a playboy, happily celebrating their Stanley Cup win when he meets Josie and his world is flipped upside down. They fall into a friendship so seamlessly. They’re attracted to each other and slowly become more. It’s a beautiful journey to go along with them on. This book was fun with their cute and adorable banter and wonderful to watch two people grow
Great book! I’ve been reading through this series in rapid succession and Reed is another wonderful installment. I adore Reed and tolerate Josie. Together they are adorable and the development of their relationship is unique and quite entertaining. Josie’s initial evaluation and judgement of his string of various “Barbie” hook ups is hysterical. That Sawyer Bennett could come up with a unique couple in book 10 of the series is a testament to the strength of her writing and the foundation of the series. The reappearance of Josie’s previous love interest, Aiden, is also handled in a truly unique way. Wait for it … Reed and Aiden actually get along!
A few Cold Fury players appear but not as much as in other books. Mostly we have an introduction to Marek whose story is next. Not as much cross over here makes this a good stand alone if you haven’t read the previous books.
Love, love, love. Reed’s story is delightful. I loved Josie. She is one of the strongest women in this series. This book can be a stand-alone, but man this series is awesome. I loved that there wasn’t a lot of angst in this book. I loved that Josie was strong when Reed was being a bit dumb. I loved all of the banter in the beginning of the book as Reed and Josie became friends. This is an entertaining read with a solid storyline. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
I have always attempted to give ‘star’ ratings on my completed reads, just as a tracking method for my titles that I have completed. I have unlimited packages for audio, kindle, and utilize the local/state library.
However, I do not check the ‘I recommend this book’ unless I am willing to reread a book and or a series.
[I read about 5-15 books a month through kindle, and I listen to about 15-30 books monthly]
I have a full life as a nurse, professor, wife, daughter [daughter in law], sister, and mother. I love to read and love a thousand other lives by turning the pages in countless books.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review. Happy reading 🙂
Reed was everything and more that you would expect from a player…friends with benefit kinda guy. This book is filled with humor, self discovery, friendship, chemistry and passion.
(4.25-4.5 stars)
Over the course of this series, ten books to date, I’ve enjoyed all the stories, but Reed has earned one of the top spots. I just loved him and Josie together right from the start. Her naming his “Barbie’s” had me rolling on the floor. I enjoyed watching their friendship grow into something more. I love Josie and think she’s a great addition to the Cold Fury’s ladies. The ONLY thing I could’ve wished for is an epilogue. I know we get the set up for Marek’s book over the last few chapters, but I really craved more Reed & Josie.
I loved it another great book in the Cold Fury series
* A review copy was provided by the author/publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review *
Well we are back with the Cold Fury Hockey players. Reed is the 10th book in this series and I have to say it felt different from the other books in this series. I think what made it different is because the timeframe is during the off season for hockey. So there really wasn’t a lot of hockey references.
I also felt like this book had a little bit of a role reversal. I really liked Reed, I thought he was sweet, funny and sexy but I also got that he felt more of the heroine role in this story and Josie was the strong, independent one and was the one to talk Reed down off the ledge so to say. You get it more once you read this story.
With saying that, I still really enjoyed this story. I thought it was a great addition to this series. I did love how Sawyer took Reed and Josie and made them friends first and built the relationship that way and then turned it into something more. It shows people how a great relationship starts with a strong foundation of friendship.
This story is a complete standalone novel told in Dual POV. We do see some past and future characters in this story. But it is NOT necessary to read the previous books in this series. I would suggest it because I think this is one of the better sports series out there and you want to meet all the men of the Cold Fury, but you don’t have to.
In this story we follow Reed and Josie who are next door neighbors. To say their first meeting is unconventional is an understatement. They meet when Josie is banging on Reed’s door to tell him to keep down the noise. (his headboard is banging against the wall) I loved how strong and to the point Josie is throughout this whole story. Reed is your typical “player” and has a revolving door of “barbies” (Josie’s word) and you can see he has a type when it comes to the women he hooks up with. Josie being the complete opposite of that…. Reed finds her intriguing. So he pursues a friendship with her. As time rolls on, they both feel more towards each other, but are afraid to take that next step. Will they cross that line?? What happens when Josie’s past comes back to haunt her?? Can Josie and Reed get their HEA?? Read this book to find out.
I will say the one thing I didn’t like about this story was the ending. I thought it was too abrupt. I wanted an epilogue for their story. Hopefully we will get more in Marek’s story and get more of a finished story between Reed and Josie. I will say I liked how she set up Marek’s story that comes next. From what I have read of Marek…I’m not sure how to feel about him. His story is going to be interesting….I think!!!!
So if you have or you haven’t read any of this series, you don’t want to miss Reed!!! I thought this was an enjoyable easy and sexy read that many will enjoy. There isn’t a whole lot of drama in this story either.
EXCELLENT READ. Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint.
Easy read
Love this book. I love this whole series. Very entertaining
great series
Reed is just full of himself, “you’re totally hot and you know it,” he smirks. “Just like you think I’m hot. Nothing wrong with two hot friends hanging out, right?” Reed likes to add on to his woman’s suggestions, “and bed,” he adds with a wink.” I loved Reed, he was light-hearted, fun loving and he had a great temperment when he wasn’t jealous. Let me tell you what though I am eager for Marek’s book, I can’t wait to see how his plays out.
I absolutely fell for Reed and Josie. They really built up their friendship and when they finally took it to the next level, lord almighty was it hot!
I adored how this book really started from the bottom and gave a realistic, I mean, as realistic as can be for a book, foundation for a great relationship starting from neighbors to friends to lovers.
Josie is someone to admire as she strove for her goals and her career rather than waiting on a man or following her ex around the world when he left. I think that was something you could tell Reed appreciated about her.
Their conversations and rapport had me giggling quite often. I really enjoyed reading this story and I cannot wait for snippets of them in the upcoming books for the Cold Fury.
Oh Reed Olson… You are some kind of guy…
#TeamReed
Another fun Cold Fury book by Sawyer Bennett. I am not typically a hockey girl, but Sawyer Bennett has completely made me fall in love with the boys of the Cold Fury!
We get Reed Olson’s love story! I loved it. I loved Dr. Josie Ives & Reed together. Josie challenged Reed in a way that made you fall in love with her and root for her! It was fun to watch him fall all over himself for her. Here is this famous hockey player being put in his place by his neighbor who doesn’t put up with his crap! It was perfect. And Josie was funny! I loved her poking fun at Reed. She was too much.
But as these two started a friends/ neighbors with benefits relationship, the line quickly becomes blurred. Enter in an ex-boyfriend, and you have the perfect storm for the perfect book.
“I may not know what I’m doing half of the time with Josie, but in this bed, I know exactly what she needs. It’s the only thing that gives me solace at this point.”
~ Sawyer Bennett, Reed (Cold Fury Hockey #10)
One thing that I loved about this book is that it sets things up perfectly for the next book in the series, Marek (Cold Fury Hockey #11). Side note, I have read Marek and it is fantabulous!! One of my favorites in the series.
The Cold Fury gang has buried themselves deep into my heart! Thank you Sawyer, for bringing these characters into my life! I have loved each and every one of them in a different way. Reed and Josie were so fun to get to know. I can’t wait to see what else you have coming our way with this hockey team! #BringIt

Devoured in one sitting. Really enjoyed this friends to lovers read. Reed is one sexy, charming hockey player making friends with his “anti-type” neighbor. I absolutely loved this story from their first meeting all the way til the end. I highly recommend this book and series!
