Delve into the city’s underbelly alongside Tori and her husbands. From earning her place as the Ruler of Rats, to taking on a murderer, Tori’s life is never dull, especially not when she’s taking on a position of power for the unwanted and forgotten. Rats: Tori is a collection of three one shot steampunk stories with a heroine in a reverse harem relationship.
An interesting story of people who are considered less trying to make a better world no matter the cost. This was a quick enjoyable listen with some pretty nice narration.
I thought this compilation was pretty good, with 3 short stories featuring Tori and her harem of Rats. I liked the steampunk aspect of the stories, anticipated the low amount of romance/heat because of Laura’s other stories, but liked the focus of each of them. I did kinda get a little discombobulated with the jumping around in the timeline so much. I wish these had been longer stories and we got to see some of the in between (like the men becoming her husbands).
I liked the narrator, she was new to me. Nicole did a good job with the various voices, I could tell the guys apart, so that got a thumbs up from me. I also liked her inflections, especially in the final story out of the three.
It was nice to have a pallet cleanser. Definitely for people needing something different and focused on the story over any romance.
Audiobook Obsession Reviewer
Rats: Tori by Laura Greenwood is a collection of three steampunk reverse harem stories that I listened to on audio narrated by Nicole Payten-Betts.
All three stories (Ruler of Rats, Collector of Rats, and Yuletide of Rats) are based around Tori and her four husbands. They all can be read as a standalone but I loved that they were combined into one collection for audible. Each story is only 42 – 66 pages in length.
I just love Laura’s books! They always leave me begging for more! This is the first steampunk series I have read and found it very enjoyable.
Nicole did an amazing job on the narration! I absolutely love her voice.
Laura Greenwood provides a box set of three distinct reverse harem, steampunk adventures. The main characters is Tori and along with her four husbands set out to change the class system. They are Rats and start off at the very bottom of society, the starving, homeless, jobless masses. In the first book Tori must steal a special necklace to become queen. In the second book she needs to recover funds owed the Rats to ensure their progress. In the third book she sets off to stop a murderer.
These are short stories and are reverse harem, steampunk novels filled with dangers and suspense. The characters are great and the narrative adds a lot towards letting you know how Tori is feeling. She is a strong likeable character with lots of love in her heart. Her husbands are each unique in their own way and without all of them, societal change would not occur. Each story has obstacles to overcome and interesting inventions. The books are quick and easy to read but very hard to put down. If you are curious about steampunk then these books are a great introduction to the genre. If you like steampunk already you should like these short glimpses into societal change through invention, intelligence and compassion. Putting all three books together is great because you get to read all the adventures.

This is collection of short stories featuring a steampunk retake on the Pied Piper story.
This short story collection features a steampunk setting and a reverse harem. With three stories in the collection, we get an opportunity to know the setting and the characters which is a good thing, because both are well developed and interesting in their own right. Each story serves as a standalone, but you get more out of them as a collection. Each is well written and easy to read, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. Overall, they make for a very entertaining read.
Highly recommended.

Fun Steampunk adventures
This book is all three stories in one, so I will review each individual story below.
Ruler of Rats
The series starts us off with Tori and her three husbands looking to take over the “Rats” – the people so low of class that anyone of actual class pretends that they don’t exist. They have no official status or place in society at all. But, they have their own society, of sorts, which has traditionally been organised to benefit whoever is in charge, but Tori wishes to change that. But, in order to take over the Rats, she has to perform a task – steal a well-guarded necklace.
This was a nice, fun adventure, but what I found it lacked was the purpose of the mission; this item obviously has some value, so what is its story?
The book does end with a time jump, but it doesn’t disturb the continuation of the story in the following book.
Rating: – Really liked
Collector of Rats
In this second adventure, Tori decides to call in a debt. But, considering how the story has gone so far, it won’t be easy at all. She needs all her wits about her to complete the task, along with the assistance of her beloved husbands. Luckily the target doesn’t know about her relationship status, so they are able to play their difficult mark together.
This, for me, was the least interesting of the three stories. There was minimal adventure, with the main part of the story being the encounter with the “villain”.
This story also ends with a time jump, which left me to start wondering about what their ages must be at this point.
Rating: – Sort of liked/OK
Yuletide of Rats
This, I must admit, was the best of the three stories, most prominently for attacking such a complicated subject. It had a “nice” twist in it, with a historical reveal that actually linked back to one of Tori’s husbands. In fact, two of her husbands were affected by the situation. It is hard to say anymore without actually revealing any spoilers!
This also ended with yet another time jump so, if I’m assuming they’re still around 18 when they start, it would make them in their late forties by the end of this story. Not such spring chickens anymore!
Oh, and there was a sort of reference to the necklace from the first book, but it was a little bit dismissive, really. In the end, there was no mystery?! That was probably the most disappointing part of it all.
Rating: – Really liked
All stories considered, there was some fun to be had across their broad spectrum. With all the usual Steampunk accessories, like steam cars and airships, as well as some steam pistols (I must admit, I still prefer flintlocks). It gave a flirty nod to the genre, rather than bringing flesh blood to it.
And another thing to note, there is a surprising lack of children about. Now, no sex is fine, as you can have plenty of fun in a book without it, but it did feel a little like there was something else missing.
Final rating (rounded up): – Really liked
Rats: Tori by Laura Greenwood is a collection of the following three related novellas: Ruler of Rats, Collector of Rats, and Yuletide of Rats. These three stories are all revolving around the main character Tori, the Ruler of Rats and her four husbands: Archie, Baxter, Edwin, and Harvey. The first story revolves around her rise to power, the second the improvements she made while in power, and the third trying to solve a series of murders and get justice for the victims. The stories are somewhat futuristic and even though this collection is billed to be a romantic reverse harem I found it to be more focused on social ideas instead of romance. The individual novellas were interesting but shorter than I expected. Rats: Tori is a collection of three related novellas.
Rats: Tori: Three Steampunk Stories by Laura Greenwood is an awesome box set that I have read. I loved reading this awesome series very much and can not wait to see what else comes next by this author. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Sci-Fi and Sci-Fi romances in their stories.

This is a three short story collection about Tori and her the guys. Tori is a rat shifter who wants to lead the pack. These are my first steampunk stories and I’m glad I took a chance and read them. A well written entertaining story filled with interesting characters and a journey with twists and turns, drama, action, mystery, suspense and so much more.
This book took me on a trip of twists and turns with a strong female lead and her alpha males. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from start to finish.

There are three stories in this collection that were each a good read but could have been a great read. Each of the stories had great story points but they just were not as well written or developed as they could have been. These were a very clean reverse harem approach as there was not alot of sexiness in the stories.

This was a great collection of short, but important events throughout Tori and her four husbands lives. As Rats from the bottom of society and lower than dirt in others eyes, she strives and peruses to bring her people the equality they deserve no matter the cost or danger it puts her and her harem in. Although this series focuses mostly on their adventures and journey, we still get to see a few sweet moments of their relationship. Archie, Baxter, Edwin, and Harvey each have different talents and strengths that they bring to the family and they each respect her decisions and ability to take care of herself. These stories were different from anything that I’ve ever read before by Laura, but I really enjoyed this steampunk reverse harem!

This is basically a set of Tori’s three short stories where it follows her adventures with her four husbands. Their story is sweet and they have a great relationship. The stories revolve around her leading and helping her fellow Rats. They’re short and can be read in a couple hours.

This was a set of three short story’s based round the same set of characters. I enjoyed the story’s but felt they weren’t fully developed. Would love to see them turned into longer books!
