A former hockey player and a bossy twink … a match made in heaven or in hell?
Brent Cameron’s done with college hockey and ready to celebrate leaving the closet with a summer road trip around Lake Michigan. But when his best friend bails on him, there’s only one solution … agree to let a guy he barely knows tag along.
Lowell Prescott’s been called everything under the sun—jersey chaser, slutty … the sun—jersey chaser, slutty twink … but he doesn’t actually chase jocks down. Usually.
Still, he can’t resist the chance to spend a summer “helping out” the left defenseman he has a teensy little crush on. Too bad Brent can’t see it that way. He’s not happy with the change in plans.
When they hit the road, animosity melts in the summer sun, replaced by a new, simmering tension. As friendship and attraction bloom, they slowly realize they’re on their way to a destination neither of them expected.
But before they reach their happy ending, they’ll be tested by Brent’s past and Lowell’s damaged heart.
The stakes are high when you play for keeps.
Push & Pull contains well-intentioned scheming, meddling friends, a snarky fashionista, and a “dumb jock” who is anything but.

This book was good the beginning was just a recap from the previous book both Lowell and Brent have some baggage in there lives and the worst of all it centers around one selfish jerk a guy who i couldn’t stand as a character but hes there for a reason as the next book is about him.

Love these guys!
Lowell is a handful, but Brent is among the nicest characters I have ever encountered
I really enjoyed the first book in this series. It’s rare that I enjoy the second book in a series more than the first, but this one was an exception. It’s a fun road trip, enemies to lovers story. This works as a stand-alone, but I think would be enjoyed more if read after book 1. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Brigham Vaughn tackles perception in Push & Pull. Vaughn has their characters face how they perceive themselves and others. In the first book of “The Midwest Series” Brent came out of the closet. Now Brent has to learn what it means to be “out of the closet”. As someone who has never lived outside of the closet, everything that he can now allow himself to do in public and semi-public is different. How he perceives himself is different.
Then there is how Brent views other people in the LGBTQ+ community. Vaughn tackles this issue on multiple fronts and does not shy away from the awkward conversations this can produce. Lowell is upfront and flamboyant with his homosexuality which makes Brent and Lowell’s family uncomfortable. This is Lowell’s self-defense to other’s reaction to his homosexuality. Perception.
These perceptions and their defenses to them has stopped them from getting close to people and here is your love story. Vaughn once again let’s Lowell fly with some of the funniest quips. Both characters are prickly and run hot and cold. Hence this title is perfect for their story.
Vaughn brings the perfect mix of humor, heat, and freedom to Push & Pull. A great way to end the month of Pride.

This is the 4th book I’ve read written by Brigham Vaughn; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

Wonderful Slow Burn Romance
I really enjoyed this slow burn romance with the jock and the twink. Brent was really upset about his plans being changed for his summer trip but it didn’t take long for him to start enjoying himself with Lowell. Lowell already attracted to Brent and didn’t see anything wrong in inviting himself into Brent’s vacation plans. It started off really hostile but it was so entertaining reading the up and down (push and pull) emotions the two had with one another. Brent was so open and willing to embrace his sexuality since he has come public. Lowell was great and willing to guide Brent to the gay experience he has been missing out on. I love how the eventually gave into their feelings for one another…it was so sweet. Brent helping out his crappy friend really did test their newfound relationship but both guys knew they had something special and was willing to whatever necessary to keep it…the love and the trust. One of this issues I noticed that Lowell had money and Brent did not. I like how Lowell was willing to give/share and Brent was willing to receive/compromise…he didn’t feel threaten or less than a man. That can be an issue in some relationships and these lovely guys somehow made it worked and not male it a big issue in their relationship. All I know is Brent is a really good friend to take all that abuse/nonsense from his horrible friend and it is nothing but love that Lowell puts up with it. These two are very special guys that had me smiling throughout the book. I enjoyed it…5 STARS!!!

Brent, a college hockey player and lately out of the closet, wanted to go on a road trip with his roommate as a last act of freedom before he would have to start work. When his roommate cancelled last minute, he suggested Lowell as a companion for the trip. Lowell, an openly gay, man with a sweet disposition has two reasons to agree to the road trip. He wants his best friend’s new romance to succeed and he really likes Brent.
Although Brent is really mad at the situation, he warms up to his new partner, despite the fact that they seem to be totally different.
A lovely story of discovery for both Brent and Lowell, with the occasional curve ball added to their relationship. A well-written coming of age story in an M/M setting.

I loved this second instalment in the series just as much as the first one, though it has a completely different vibe!
This one is all about the banter and the incredible chemistry between Brent and Lowell, though both of them are wary of exploring it for fear of messing up their budding friendship and the road trip they’re on together around Lake Michigan, which sort of forces them together for two months.
There are moment of tension, but, all in all, the feeling of the book is pretty light, breezy and carefree, suiting its summer-y theme.
Another amazing book in the Midwest Series!
Brent and Nathan plan to take a summer road trip together. Now an out and proud gay man, he cant wait to get out and enjoy his newfound freedom. When it is time to embark on his adventure, Nathan does not show. Bret is stressed because he knows its not affordable for him to take this trip on his own.
Lowell, who is also an out and proud gay an, is an unexpected twist for this trip. He’s also a little on the fence right now about jocks. As luck would have it, Brent happens to be one of those jocks. Turns out, Lowell is the best friend of Caleb, who happens to be the new boyfriend of Nathan.
A wrench in the plans is an understatement. Despite himself, Lowell struggled to win Brent over. Seems odd given his views on jocks. Things finally make a pivot and the two men begin getting along in more ways than one.
Truly a summer to remember.

Well, this one here was even better than Caleb & Natah’s story! Lowell and Brent are one of those characters you spend the whole time laughing, cheering, wanting to shake them and in the end loving their story! From two people who couldn’t stand each other to a couple who can’t stand away from each other , they went through a lot and it was definitely a ride. I also liked the way Brigham made efforts to break stereotypes, and how the the boys are way more than the dumb jock and the flamboyant guy who wears make up.
Highly recommended if you want a good and enjoyable book.
Brent was suppose to go on a road trip with his best friend Nathan but Nathan backs out and has his boyfriend’s friend Lowell take his place. Things start out rough at first but than things get better and better. I really enjoyed this book.
The second book in the Midwest Series features Caleb’s best friend Lowell and Nathan’s best friend Brent. Due to Nathan and Caleb’s recent relationship Nathan decides that it is in their best interest for him to back out of his road-trip he planned with Brent. Lowell then decides that he can take Nathan’s place so Brent can still go; except they don’t really tell Brent until the day of the trip. Recently coming out, Brent is somewhat flustered by the flamboyant and confident Lowell. With the whole summer ahead of them there is bound to be lots of interesting adventures and maybe somewhere along the way both men will realize there is more between them then what they both see on the surface.
I did read this series by Brigham Vaughn in order but this novel can be read as a standalone. Personally I liked this novel a lot better then the first one. Here, there was more a connection between Brent and Lowell then Caleb and Nathan. While both came with their own baggage it wasn’t linked with the other and that’s what really dragged down the first book for me. I also think that the character Lowell is extremely likeable. Everything about him is just so kind, lovely and downright hilarious. Hands down seeing more of Lowell this book was fabulous! I would recommend this book for those that like the flamboyant and jock romance. I will say that this book is a bit on the longer side and sometimes it drags a little bit, but I think that it still manages to grasp your attention and live you swooning as these two men try to navigate their feelings for each other.

PUSH & PULL is book 2 in “The Midwest Series” and we get to see how Nathan & Caleb from Book 1. PUSH & PULL features Lowell and Brent whose roommates are now in love.
At times, this book was like a travel journal. Traveling through the midwest, we get to see Lowell and Brent’s relationships evolve.
This is a no spoiler review, I will say this has more stereotypical “profiling ” and I love how the M patiently breaks down the walls.
I look forward to reading the next couple in the series.

Excuse Me….

After weeks of being pampered by his mom and annoyed be his siblings he was looking forward to this trip.
But right now his head felt like it was going to explode his best bud just told him he wasn’t going.
Apparently his fingers didn’t work or maybe he’d suffered from some sort of brain fart because not once did say a word during any of their phone calls.
Yeah he wasn’t thrilled with his best bud’s so call solution involved the other guy standing with them.
I’m totally in a rock and a hard spot and everyone here knows it.
Nope, no one explained to Lowell just exactly what kind if road trip this was camping and those kind of things…
Comprises definitely the word of the moment.
So okay maybe this trip wasn’t going as bad as he’d thought it would or maybe the fact he’d been to quick in the way he’d judged Lowell.
He really should have known better than to visit his parents they always seemed to posse the able to crush him.
Lowell was the one to ignite things between them with one move and they took off like a firecracker.
Brent wasn’t sure what he did that was so wrong because there was definitely that morning after awkwardness going on.
At one time he might have felt different about the pictures he’d posted an wow the response he just got from someone who was what?
Well camping found its way back on the menu and there is a big difference between the two-legged bear versus the four-legged one’s.
Everything was going great until it wasn’t yes he knew some of what he was feeling stemmed from the way he’d been treated in the past.
Of course I totally understand he didn’t want anything to do with him and its not like I asked him to come along to hold his hand and sing Kumbaya and eat S’mores.
Once he pulled his head out.. Lowell knew one hundred percent Brent was the real deal and especially after hearing him put dumb dumb Micah in his place for they way he’d been acting.
So what started out on shaky ground turned into something they both never saw coming.

This book is amazing and I absolutely loved it! The story of Brent of Lowell is sweet and funny and sexy and is well worth reading! When Brent’s best friend, Nathan, cancels on his trip with Brent and that Lowell is going instead, Brent is furious. At first the two aren’t getting along very well but as time passes, and Brent realizes he doesn’t have to hide that he’s gay anymore, the two start really enjoying their time together. A phone call from an injured friend will cut the trip short and leave Brent and Lowell at odds with each other but in the end, they are finally able to admit their feelings for each other and start their journey to a wonderful relationship together.

NMW, always stay in a good hotel! Lowell reluctant to spend the summer watching Caleb and Nathan in their new relationship suggest he travel with Brent on the two month summer road/camping trip. Problem is they decide without discussing with Brent and Lowell shows up 30 minutes after the trip was supposed to start. Brent was angry & a little hurt and refused to speak to Nathan until the trip was almost half over. He was snarky toward Lowell until common sense & good manners took over. Lowell, volunteered to fund the housing so he could be comfortable & safe. Letting Brent drive the Panamera helped. Although, how will the car do on the camp grounds? Lowell was unaware of the nature of the trip. It was several days before Brent told Lowell the details. Good story! Will Brent forgive Nathan? Will Lowell open up and be himself with Brent? The description of the trip was so good, I want to make a similar trek! Will the Panamera survive? Will Brent get comfortable with being outwardly gay? Nicely done! I hope we get to hear Micah’s story. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
This was a great follow up story to Caleb and Nathan. I fell in love with Caleb and Nathan first but Brent and Lowell were just as great. I loved that the their adventure of the road trip and the get to know me story line really worked. When Brent finally put his anger aside and decided to get to know Lowell, the trip became so much more. I really enjoyed their HEA. .
