I’ve told two men I loved them. I lied to one of them.Nicolas was my first love, and although it’s been years since we ended, I can’t not love him. Even if I’m married to someone else.Promise Me is a stand alone forbidden romance.
One of my friends just wrote, “choose with your heart, cause that’s the one you need to live with. Can’t do regrets .”
Thank you bev Stowell .
the story is good. Nicholas and Peyton love each other so much, it’s love at first sight since they were kids, a tiny mistake turns their world upside down and Peyton marries Isaac. Isaac is a baseball star, who loves Peyton very much, just not the way Nic does. They all wallow in misery .
Nic for having lost the love of his life, never finding closure !
Peyton because her heart belongs to Nic and body to Isaac !
Isaac because no natter how much he loves Peyton, it’s never enough !
The story is good, the treatment is gentle. A lot of tip – toeing around the feelings and inner dialogue .
I think more of focus was on frustration part of the ‘tragic’ story rather than finding a solution part. The tragedy was brought on by Peyton hesitance or weak willingness. Isaac and Nic were plenty brave and upfront. Since no kids were involved, it could have gone the practical way.
I loved her earlier works. Esp Absolution. It was mind blowing !!
This story is beautiful and poignant, I so wanted them together .
With the title -A Love So Tragic, it didn’t justify the tragedy.
But that’s just my opinion.
The solution was in Stevie own words-“Circumstances can change anyone. Lives change, you get older, you realize that you won’t live forever, and at some point, you start to wonder if this is how you want your life to go. ”
And
“Sometimes we make a mistake that can never be undone. We hurt people we never intend to hurt, and it isn’t until years later we realize that although we hurt them, letting them go was the kindest thing we could have done

I would like to start by saying that the Prologue is confusing…just like she says it will be. Until, like she says, closer to the end. I’d like to think that I am the kind of person who would never condone Peyton’s behavior, but I would be lying. This tragically beautiful story destroyed my heart. This is actually the second book that I have read where I make excuses for behavior I would NOT normally tolerate from any one. Apparently, I’m judgy.
Does the book hurt? Yes. Will it break your heart? Yes. Does it toy with your emotions? Yes. Should you read it? Absolutely, but try not not judge yourself afterwards.
Tragically beautiful, Shakespeare would be jealous. The characters’ love for one another tears their lives upside down more than once. Circumstances and lives change, yet they find themselves in a situation they would never have guessed. When do you decide which is more important, your head or your heart? How do you forget the only love you’ve ever known?
It seems that Nic and Peyton need these answers more than I do. Tell me, do you think they covered it, or would you have done it differently? Try not to judge them or yourself too hard. Me, I am just embracing the tragic tale of two young lovers whose pride got in the way of their love.
The last two lines of the book, made my heart smile. But please, don’t cheat. Wait to read them at the right time! I promise it will be worth it.
To Stevie J. Cole,
You have a beautiful imagination, an amazing cover model, and a new fan for life.
