Pride and Prejudice is one of those classic stories everyone should read at least once. Love the story, the characters (especially Mr. Darcy!), and the ending. Highly recommend.

I have read all of Jane Austen’s books over and over. Pride and Prejudice is my absolute favorite. This is a tale of the 5 Bennett sisters. Their mother wants them to marry well. Their father just wants some peace and quiet. Then Mr. Darcy comes along and things really get interesting for everyone. This book has the ending you always hoped would come about.

My favorite book of all-time, from the moment I read it more than 20 years ago. I’ve reread it multiple times since then. Nothing beats Austen’s wit, insight into the human character, and observations on love, friendship, family, and society. And as many can attest, Elizabeth and Darcy’s evolution from hate to love is one of the most classic stories in all of literature.
You’ll be annoyed right alongside Lizzie about her family, fuming over Mr. Darcy’s initial prickliness, and empathetic for Jane’s turbulent courtship with Mr. Bingley, all to end up wholly satisfied with Austen’s classic “happy ending.” If you’ve not yet read P&P, there’s no time like now to start.

Pride & Prejudice has been my favorite book since I first read it in elementary school. I have read it three times and watched the old BBC version (with Colin Firth) every year since middle school. It was a perfect book for me because as much as I’m a hater of Romeo and Juliet I do love romance. For me I like books to have witty and sarcastic characters, love-hate romances and a realistic time period for the romantic interests to fall in love. Thank God for Jane Austin for refraining from having any of the ridiculous love-at-first-sight/true love/soulmate nonsense!

Fall in love with this classic feminist book. You’ll love Jane and her sisters, and eventually, you’ll come around to Mr. Darcy.

Ever since I can remember I have had the biggest crush on Jane Austen. She is just one of those authors that surpasses time and all other authors. The way she has the ability to pull you in and leave you breathless in some of the most unexpected ways is why she will always be this goddess of words to me.
Mr. Darcy was the first man in a book to really enchant me in a book with not only his dialogue but with his whole presence. We have a man who falls for a lady well beneath his social status and he is pissed off. Which in turns makes him broody, standoffish and a complete ass but even though he seems like another well off man of money he is so much more. He does not know how to navigate his feelings or what can be done about them.
“In vain have I struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
My dear sweet Elizabeth is a woman from another time, truly. She is so far above the other women in society who just want to get married and have fancy houses with babies. She refuses to settle for something that she doesn’t want. Austen invented the modern woman before it was even thought of much less before it could even be expected and that is just so extraordinary.
Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth are the epitome of “enemies to lovers”. Pride and Prejudice has stood on its on for over a hundred years and will continue to do so. This story forever will be one of those stories that no matter how many times you read it you can’t help but fall for this couple that shouldn’t have ended up together but despite the odds they did and that is nothing short of magical.

I have always told myself that I would read this book and I am so glad that I did. This book is an instant classic.
The romance in this book made me squeal or give me a room feeling inside, despite Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth having no contact or kissing each other. It is a amazing way to show romance without physical contact, it is something I don’t see often or something many books fail to do. I really do love how our main protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, has flaws. I appreciate how she struggles with her prejudice and she sees how it affects how she sees others. I especially love her sass and opinions. I do love Elizabeth’s relationship with her sisters and her best friend, Charlotte. It is nice to see good relationships between other women.
One part I didn’t like is how sometimes I get confused who’s speaking, however that could be me losing my tracks.
Overall, this book is one of my favorite romance and a book written by a woman.

I think I’ve managed to consume Jane Austen’s classic in every format except audiobook until now. I recently listened to the production which Kate Beckinsale narrates, and I think for the first time I could truly step into these unbelievable characters crafted by Ms. Austen. The dialogue-oh, the dialogue!-is enough to take one’s breath, and hearing it performed was beyond measure.

This is my favorite book, and I reread it at least once a year. It’s a classic, so there’s a good chance most people have been exposed to it at one point or another; but if you haven’t please consider giving it a try. Jane Austen is the irony queen for a reason. It will enthrall and delight.

If there was a category called “Read Over and Over Again,” I’d click that! The characters and settings jump out of the book because of Austen’s prose. Just lovely. Another wonderful story that I can’t wait to read again. And again.

Reading this book made me feel like an idiot. The language is foreign to me and I have never read classics for fun. It did get better with time and obviously is much easier to comprehend if you’ve see the movie. Even with the vocabulary and style, I love any story with an independent woman who is witty and smart and takes no crap. I also love how during that period of time, a 21-year-old Austen wrote a book like this with funny, playful remarks and a plot that so many books/movies have followed. I have heard an annotated version of this book can make it a better read and I’d eventually like to read one myself.
***Honestly, I love the 2005 film so much there is no way I could give the book it’s adapted from anything less than 5 stars***

One of the best books I’ve ever read. It tells of the times, the social morals, it’s characters are different… And of course there’s Mr. Darcy. The difficult relationship with Elizabeth Bennett is fascinating. Not like a soap opera.. far from it . Inch by inch, misunderstandings & misconceptions are squelched & their romance, the centerpiece of the book is fully of witty parlays. It’s written beautifully by Austen.
