The question about which one book people should read alarms me. What are we preparing for? Is this life the one book you’re allowed to take when you flee earth? The only book ANYONE in any future civilization is allowed to read? I need more context.
I guess maybe Pride and Prejudice or Alanna because then at least I would be able to talk about …

I know, I know, you’ve seen all the movie and miniseries versions. Trust me, if you haven’t read the book, you owe it to yourself. You’ll fall in love with Mr. Darcy all over again.

Not only the excellent story but it adds historic and other trivia facts and customs that allows you to be apart of the story. Pride and prejudice has always been a favorite of mine but for the history buff that wants more insight into customs of the time, this edition is for you.

@HMish turned me onto The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, which is one of the best adaptations of Pride and Prejudice I’ve seen! It really captures Lizzie’s POV and her relationships with her sisters and friend. I see a P&P re-read in my future….

I really didn’t expect to like this book because of the language of old English. It was difficult to pick up on, but once I did, the story really flowed. It was a bookclub choice from one of our members and a classic, so I rolled my eyes at it at first. Wow! Was I wrong initially! This is now one of my favorite books and have reread it several …

I have read Pride and Prejudice many times over the years and it never gets old. I enjoy the love story between Elizabeth and Darcy and all the constant impediments that keep falling in their way. Will they make it together by the end of the book or not??? The other couples in the story are secondary but just as fun. It’s always, do they get …

This has been on my reading list for years. And now that I have finally have read I’m asking myself “why did you take so long to read it?” It is a slow read but so worth It. If you don’t have time to read the book I would suggest getting the audio book and live the Jane Austin experience that way, and you won’t be disappointed.

I first read Pride & Prejudice for a book report in high school. I guess what I most enjoyed when reading the book as a teenager, was how Elizabeth stood up to Darcy. That was when Elizabeth became one of my heroines. Since then I’ve re-read it numerous times and I always enjoy it. I enjoy the characters and their foibles.

I would consider this book required reading. However, reading it is no chore. It’s timeless and entertaining.

Jane Austen has a unique and slightly snarky view on the relations between men and women.

Pride & Prejudice opens up the world as it was in England in the 1800’s. It was the duty of a mother with 5 daughters to have them married off. Woman of their class would go to dances, balls, the theater, to meet men.the tale of Elizabeth Bennett & the handsome, rich & arrogant Mr.Darcy’s tale of disdain/love is one of the most tantalizing …

I fell in love with this book at the age of 12. Now 70, I’ve read it more times that I can count on fingers and toes. I love the twists and turns, and the hero/heroine are characters that I love. Just because it’s classified as “classic” it’s not stuffy or hard to read (once again, I was 12 when I first read it and had no problems. It’s my …

Jane Austen at her best. Elizabeth is one of her most endearing characters.
