“None of this matters, and we’re all going to die.”With only three days left until the predicted apocalypse, the small town of Franklin Springs, Georgia, has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, abandoned homes, abandoned businesses, and abandoned people. People like Rainbow Williams.Rain isn’t afraid of dying. In fact, she’s looking forward to it. If she can just outrun her pain until April 23, … outrun her pain until April 23, she’ll never have to feel it at all.
“Supplies. Shelter. Self-defense.”
Wes Parker has survived every horrible thing this life has thrown at him with nothing more than his resourcefulness and disarming good looks. Why should the end of the world be any different? All he needs are some basic supplies, shelter, and a sucker willing to help him out, which is exactly what he finds when he returns to his hometown of Franklin Springs.
As society crumbles, dangers mount, and secrets refuse to stay buried, two lost souls are thrust together in a twist of fate—one who will do anything to survive and one who can’t wait to die.
Perhaps, together, they can learn how to live.
Before their time runs out.

What a way to end the world!
I can not wait to see where Easton takes this trilogy!
Intense- Engaging – Emotional
Rain is a survivor
Wes is a user
Together they will use each other to survive the end of days.
I want to start with the way the storyline was crafted.
It flowed in a way that was easy to read and kept me on edge throughout.
The chaos, the anarchy – it all worked
Then the twist – the angst – the reality of it all
The cast – each character added such an impact to the storyline. Even the supporting had a major piece of the puzzle to put into place.
When nothing really matters anymore you tend to ask yourself
Why?
The answer?
Frack ’em!
One of the best reads of 2019
What happens when one of your unicorn Authors branches out into Apocalyptic Romance? You INHALE all the words as if you were starving!! One of my favorite things about this Author is that she is so versatile, a master story teller, making you feel as if you are right there with the characters, blending the light with the dark, and making you think to boot. Rain and Wes were the most unlikely pairing, but that’s why they worked so well!! The story line was genius, twists and turns galore, leaving you unsure of the outcome until the very end, and then leaving you reeling, wanting more, more more!!! The vivid imagery, the character’s pain, their backstories, all stuck in my head well after finishing, and I’m so glad that we are not done with this story and will be eagerly awaiting the next book!! Kudos again to this Author for giving us something so unique and engaging to sweep us away!! An absolute must read and I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!!

Holy #$&*!!!! I can’t brain. Mind blown. Too much amazing. Overload of wow. WAT R WURDS?! BB EASTON BROKE ME WITH AMAZING WRITING! I’m not sure if I’m even human anymore or just a blob suffering through life until I get the next book. Pardon me while I try to bring my brain back online and attempt to form something that might make sense enough for anyone to understand that this book is absolutely phenomenal.
*two hours later (said in fake French accent spongebob voice)*
I still can’t brain. I still cannot get this book out of my head. I still cannot stop rocking in a corner in my twenty one pilots tee listening to Trench having the ultimate fangirl attack.
*many hours later*
I might still be human. BB Easton blew my freaking mind with Praying For Rain. I was expecting awesome from the blurb, I was not expecting change my life, new number one book of the year, make me unable to read anything else, epicness though. This is hands down the most unique, most devastating in its beauty and tragedy and most captivating book I have read in I can’t even remember how long.
3.5 stars
I absolutely love (post-)apocalyptic romance novels, and I really think more authors should write books in this subgenre. So when I first read the blurb of Praying for Rain, I really got excited to see how BB Easton would do with this story. I think the premise was original. I also liked that the story took place a couple of days before the predicted apocalypse would happen. It really showed how people would all act a different way to cope with this upcoming doom. Our main characters are Rain and Wes. While Rain is counting down the days and is looking forward to dying, Wes is trying to find a way to survive.
My main reason for not rating this book higher is because it was hard for me to connect to the characters. I didn’t find Rain to be very likable, she acted careless and annoyed me a bit. However, as I got further into the story, I could understand the way she acted, and I started rooting for her. It wasn’t like Wes was perfect, and he got a bit rude a couple of times. I think both Wes and Rain acted their age, and did the best with the bad hand they were dealt. Even though I usually am not a huge fan of new adult romance, I think I will continue this trilogy because I want to know what is going to happen next. I see a lot of potential, and I look forward to seeing the main characters (especially Rain) grow stronger in the upcoming books.
I’m blown away with this story. Wes and Rain are two unlikely to cross paths but when there’s just days before the end of the world… this story is filled with passion, trust and survival. A non stop page turner that will have you thinking multiple scenarios of what all the signs could mean and how it will all happen. We’re left with a cliffhanger but at the same time a tease of what’s to come that will calm you down ever so slightly until book two arrives. Highly recommend you bump this to the top of your TBR list and make it your next read.
I was so excited when I learned that BB Easton was writing a new book AND that it was about the apocalypse! I knew that she would leave her mark on this genre, and she not only did that, but she just slayed her “first official” work of fiction. Although it is so very different than her 44 Chapters memoir series, there is still that signature BB touch in this story – there are glimmers of that pint-sized feisty and fierce edgy girl in the heroine, Rain, and I loved everything about her. And I loved Wes – the determined, rough and broody motorbike riding “hero.” He was a force from the moment he stepped on the page.
As the story begins, you figure out rather quickly that Rain and the people of small-town, Georgia, believe that the world is ending in a matter of days. But there is still so much mystery surrounding the circumstances. BB Easton does an incredible job of painting the picture of frantic townspeople, dismantled businesses, abandoned homes, and vandalized properties that you can easily picture the scene of fear, violence, and desperation. That is what Rain is…desperate.
Rain is so closed off and defeated when you first meet her – I was ready to give this girl the shirt off my back and all the cash I had. Then when Wes comes flying into her life, you see a side of her that is a fighter. She is fearless and will protect herself at any cost – but at the same time, she has come to accept the dire reality of their situation. As their story unfolds, you will lose track of time, you will experience fear and desperation with them, and feel Rain’s hunger pains. You will want to fight along-side Wes to get him to his goals, all while you fall for his charm and protective nature. Your heart will break with these characters and you will want to cheer them on until the very last page.
I loved the depth of both of these characters. I loved the fact that this book takes place over a few days and it literally feels like months…it is brilliant and bold, and Wes & Rain’s connection never feels rushed – just real, raw and organic. I am crazy excited for BB Easton and this novel, and can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!
B.B. Easton blew me away with her memoir. I became an instant fan and consumed her 4 Men series. When that was over I was left wondering what she’d right next, knowing no matter it was I needed it. Her words are magic, enthralling where they suck you into the story and not let you go until the very last page.
Praying for Rain blew me away. It’s so different. Edgy and daring and bold and exciting. A top fave of the year no doubt. I was consumed from page one, reading into the wee hours of the night and held in suspense about what was going to happen next. Wes and Rain are characters you root and feel for. B.B. Easton didn’t just write a book. She wrote a masterpiece.
Within the days before the impending apocalypse, Rainbow Williams has come to care about very little. Along with the few people who are left in their destroyed town that is falling apart around her, her goal is to continue numbing herself and simply making it through her last days on earth. Until she meets Wes.
Wesson Parker has always been alone, and he plans to die that way as well… but not on April 23rd with the rest of the world. He has a plan, which doesn’t include the unforgettable girl with the haunted eyes who seems hell bent on making his mission even more impossible than it already is…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Praying For Rain was a dark and utterly chilling story of the world in the days before a full blown apocalypse. With the entire world having the same frightening dreams of the terrible things that will happen on April 23rd, it’s only a matter of time before the chaos is set to consume everyone. Rain and Wes may have found each other at the worst possible time, but getting through everything together all of a sudden makes the end of the world just little more tolerable…
Rain is a survivor, she just doesn’t know it yet. She has become resigned to her fate, with the dreams that have been haunting her for the past year coming closer to reality, the life that she once had is already over.
Wes has had to fight for everything in his life, and he isn’t going to let the apocalypse be the thing that finally beats him. As a self described people user, he does what he needs in order to get by, and he has no issue doing so. But when he meets Rain, using her is about to turn his entire existence upside down…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me just start by saying that I have never had any interest in reading any sort of apocalyptic based novels… but when BB Easton writes a book I am there for it… and this one has left me once again in complete awe of her talent and of all things BB.
Rain is so freaking strong, as a 19 year old who has seen some increasingly terrible things, she is patiently waiting for the death that is coming for her in just a few days. And when Wes shows up as the ultimate distraction, she throws herself wholeheartedly into helping him, because with her running mantra… “None of this matters, and we’re all going to die,” the things that once meant so much to her now mean absolutely nothing.
Wes is a man who cares about no one but himself, but then he keeps rescuing Rain with every bad situation she finds herself in (or that he leads her into). She’s young and acts like she doesn’t want to fight for her life when it comes down to it… but Wes recognizes a fellow survivor when he sees one, and there is something about Rain that he isn’t prepared to let go of.
This book was so brilliantly written, and it left me utterly amazed at the imagination and the story weaving ability of BB Easton. Dark, sexy and so freaking twisted, I am desperate for the next book in this fascinating trilogy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Praying For Rain is one of those that you have to incorporate into your library. When Wes and Rain meet in the most unpleasant of circumstances, they take you on a journey of survival.
The things they experienced together, revelations they make about one another and their unfortunate situations makes you root for things to turn around. Their relationship is an unconventional whirlwind , but so endearing. You feel for both characters and their individual past and present struggles.
I love all the colloquialisms that are so essential of BB. From watching her live videos and seeing her personality shine, you get a dose of them in this book that will make you chuckle.
The ending makes you smile and the bonus will have you yelling at your device for more. Well written and intriguing from start to finish.
Can’t wait for book two!
I haven’t read many dystopian romances but Praying For Rain was such a great read. I loved it! I loved loved Rain and Wes. They were amazing characters. I am dying to read part two!
This is a dystopian adventure, what will you do with 2 days left to supposedly live?
With only three days left until the predicted apocalypse, the small town of Franklin Springs, Georgia, has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, abandoned homes, abandoned businesses, and abandoned people.
Rainbow ‘Rain’ Williams, isn’t afraid of dying. Rain’s High School Boyfriend left her a month ago so we could go with his family to be together during the end. Rain is looking forward to it all ending. If she can just outrun her pain until April 23, she’ll never have to feel it at all. Rain has plenty of pills to help her live without pain or without a care in the world. She pops in one or two at a time and all her cares go out the window.
Wes Parker has survived every horrible thing this life has thrown at him with nothing more than his resourcefulness and disarming good looks. Wes has figured out that women love his looks, and just want what’s in his pants. Wes has skated by in life with his charm and looks. All he needs are some basic supplies, shelter, and a sucker willing to help him out, which is exactly what he finds when he returns to his hometown of Franklin Springs.
Wes has been in and out of foster homes almost his entire life. We kidnaps Rain while she was trying to buy one of her last meals. Even though Rain and Wes are a few years apart in age they are similar in the lost way. Neither are sure with what to do with the future if there is any. Perhaps, together, they can learn how to live. Before their time runs out.
As society crumbles, dangers mount, and secrets refuse to stay buried, two lost souls are thrust together in a twist of fate—one who will do anything to survive and one who can’t wait to die.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book from the author. I am freely leaving a honest review.
First let me say make sure your SOBER when you read this book because it is trippy. Im not kidding you will miss the signs. The theories in my head I so would like to tell but if im right it will ruin it in this review. If Im wrong and spew nonsense I look like an Idiot lol The Tom Hanks thing cracks me up
Fyi I had to look up Dystopian so to save you the trouble = A dystopia is a community or society that is undesirable or frightening. It is translated as “not-good place” and is an antonym of utopia.
April 23rd the date of the apocalypse. Now to some it means the end but what if it means the beginning a rebirth. See the theories are limitless and BB mind games get you really guessing which way is up.
Rainbow Song Williams The name says it all shes numbing the pain waiting for the end to come. Then shes taken for survival. She had something he needed. Its going to cost him in the end.
Wesson Patrick Parker is a fighter and when he runs into Rainbow his 3 rules go out the window. (Supplies, Shelter and Self Defense)
If You love Mind Fucking reads sit back and enjoy the ride
“Im actually glad she ran off.. That one had desperate clinger with daddy issues written all over her, ands the last thing I need is another mouth to feed.”
“I see myself, a slave to my stupid desire for this crazy girl.”
“Stop pretending like you’re unlovable monster when you’re the boldest, bravest, most..most beautiful person I’ve ever met!
I’ve finally found what I’ve been missing my whole life, and if I keep it, will it kill me.”
“I think I came here to find you, Rain. I’m just sorry it took me so long to figure it out.”
Soooo yeah, I’m late to the party, my first read by the author and also probably my first dystopian read as i can’t get into paranormal/shifters books but OMG this book!!!
I’ve read it in one sitting because i was so drawn in by the writing, the characters and the story that i was wth is going on, what am i reading? i just couldn’t put it down because the world that the author has created in this book i had so many moments that i didn’t know what was a dream and what was real.
Wes is hot as hell and Rain is a great female character, and together they are just fire.
The writing is amazing and all the graphic description had my mouth opened for more than one time, as for the sexy times they are hot and hotter.
I hate cliffhangers but this is one of the best books that I’ll wait even a year to get the second one out of three books and to continue with this story full of everything you want and don’t expect.
After reading BB’s 44 Chapters series I knew right away I wanted to read this. But let me tell ya, it’s NOTHING like 44 Chapters and that’s ok!!! I wasn’t sure how Praying for Rain was going to go and wasn’t sure what to expect. But I took a leap and holy criminey was it ever a leap!! This book gripped me from the beginning. I couldn’t get enough of Wes and Rain. I can’t believe I have to wait all summer for the next!!!
Words…all the words…AMAZING! Thought provoking. Sexy and raw, on the edge of your seat page turning suspenseful and heartbreaking. The world B.B. Easton has created is like nothing you’ve ever read and you’ll be salivating for more when you finish.
With no chance of survival, the apocalypse looming, would you be a lifer and cling to hope, or would you give in to despair and give up?
B.B. Easton takes us on a journey into a world filled with chaos, disorder and lawlessness where everyone is waiting for the final days before the apocalypse happens on April 23rd. The day when the four horsemen of the apocalypse appear and wipe out humanity. No one knows exactly how it will happen, just the date, and you’ve either learned to embrace the fate of the world, or perhaps fight against it.
B.B.’s writing is rich and detailed. She takes you into a broken world where you have to fight for survival, are on the brink of starvation, and so many people have given up hope. The dreams people experience are so vivid, you feel the horsemen breathing down your neck as you read. I’m so excited to continue the series and see where B.B. takes us next.
Rainbow “Rain” Williams is done. She wants out. There is nothing left but pain, misery and loneliness. Death has to be better than whatever life she is living. There are only three more days until the end and April 23rd can’t arrive fast enough. Then Wes arrives in her world and for the first time Rain, even with death knocking on her door, she has something to smile about.
Wesson “Wes” Parker has a different plan. Supplies, shelter, self-defense. Rain has the resources he needs to achieve his goals and he’ll take advantage of her for as long as he can. Rain’s flighty nature almost gets him killed a few times, but there is something about her that continually calls him back, even against his better judgement.
Time is running out, the days are getting closer to April 23rd. Wes is doing everything to stick to his plan. Supplies, shelter, self-defense. Rain’s only wants to help, but in the end when the apocalypse happens her only reason for living has become Wes. Will it be enough?
Can they survive what’s coming? Can they survive together?
BB Easton has a unique, often snarky, wonderful way with words and Praying for Rain had my attention from the first page. Into its apocalyptic visions of chaos, death and complete mayhem, she manages to weave a love story which is charming and really quite lovely in its unusual, totally quirky, fabulous way. Cool colours contrasting with the reds and blacks of impending doom! Rain is sweet, brave and vulnerable. Wes is tough, enigmatic and a loner, and completely fabulous of course!
With nightmares brought to life and two gorgeous lovers at its heart, Praying for Rain is on my fab list for 2019, and the story isn’t even finished yet!
Praying for Rain is original and unlike anything I have read before. It completely blew any expectations I had out of the water.
BB Easton has such an undeniable talent when it comes to writing and creating a story that you can feel in your bones.
Praying for Rain is a dark and raw tale about the looming apocalypse.
It isn’t hard to envision the chilling picture that has been painted. How easily everything can turn to chaos and your world could literally start to fall and crumble with the knowledge that the end of the world has a date. How quickly people turn absolutely ruthless and take on take no prisoner attitude. The reality of how fast and far our society could spiral is nailed perfectly.
As for these characters, they are life!
Wes will fight, steal and do absolutely anything to survive. He isn’t going to just roll over, give up and accept this fate. He has spent his whole life taking what he wants and needs to survive and he doesn’t depend on anyone else for help.
Enter Rain.
She has a different approach on how to handle her last days on earth but when there paths cross, plans start to change and they find themselves leaning on one another. She realizes that she no longer wants to be numb to it all. After all, she is a survivor!
This book was phenomenal and I can’t wait to see more fight from Wes and Rain.
A must read!
5 plus stars!
There is absolutely nothing like picking up a book and becoming part of the story. Laughing out loud, crying real tears, and feeling the anticipation in your chest. BB Easton lets her creativity and skill shine in Praying for Rain. You would never know this is not her typical subject matter. Easton definitely brought her “A game” and readers everywhere benefit the repercussions. The story has a dark underpinning and settles into a romantic suspense with a bit of tension breaking humor. The unique and enigmatic cast of characters are absolutely intriguing. From the main group of characters down to tertiary members, Easton did not spare any detail. The narrative grabs the reader from the first page and holds on until the very last.
Highly recommended! 5 stars!
This is got to be one of the best told stories I have read ever. BB Easton is such a gifted storyteller and artist and her foray into an apocalyptic romance was nothing I expected and everything I needed and wanted. It blew my mind! I love a good dark and twisty tale! Rain and Wes play off each other so well. Wes is a tough survivor while Rain is existing in a pre apocalyptic world with the end coming in three days. The story is so well written you are right there in the story with them you see everything, you feel everything and it hurts, there is pain ,there is loss, love and there is such an ache and yet you keep going, you have to know what is going to happen, you want to know what is going to happen and you HAVE to keep going….it’s intense and hell of a ride. I cried, yelled I was not ready to get to the end ( always a sign of a great book!) This is the first book in the series I am already eagerly anticipating the next book in the meantime, I cannot recommend it enough get Praying for Rain April 11 !!!
5 Cranky Stars
If you knew the Apocalypse was approaching what would you do with your final time here on Earth? Drink, medicate and go hog wild? Spend time with your family? Try to do as many things on your bucket list which might be impossible since the world is in chaos and ruin. Which happens to be the case in Praying for Rain.
Rainbow knows the world will end on April 23. A series of dreams are triggering the demise of the world. Her small town is crumbling down around her and neighbor is turning against neighbor. She is just trying to make it till then and is self-medicating to try and not feel or remember that her life is in shambles. She tries to dress down as much as she can on the rare moments, she leaves the house because money is no longer viable currency anymore if you catch my drift. It’s on one of these excursions she meets Wes. He makes her feel and gives her hope. She wants to hold onto him and ride out these last three days with him by her side.
Wes is like a nomad. Hoping from place to place just trying to get by. A child of the system he lands back in the United States when news that the end is near. He lands back in his childhood town and starts a hunt for a mysterious bunker. He’s living from place to place doing what he can to survive. One day he sees Rainbow being attacked by some people and he steps in. His immediate thought is he can use her to get the supplies he needs but it becomes more.
I don’t know what I just read in a day, but I love it. Praying for Rain has that signature BB Easton style of an emotionally compromised girl who copes not in the healthiest ways and that bad boy we all love. The one with the hidden heart somewhere under all the tattoos and cynicism. This book can be pretty graphic at times and gory but it’s not all that it seems. It’s just so much more. You feel for Rain and Wes and want them to live. You crave that happily ever after for them. This book makes you wonder if there were to be an ending will we go out with a bang like how we started or more of human approach that breaks down society as we know it. I think for BB Easton stepping outside of what she has written in the past this is an excellent way to make an entrance. Look out world BB is making her way in this crazy apocalyptic world!!
