There were no women left. He was sure of it. After the war, Cole Tanner was pretty damn certain they were all dead.Hell, he and his strike team hadn’t seen one in years. But then there she was. A woman. All alone, standing in the middle of the road. His road. She looked so haunting. So hungry and dirty, and well… vulnerable. He was going to help her, really he was. And for a split second, he … really he was. And for a split second, he wondered just how she’d survived.
Then she leveled the gun at him… and he had his answer. Damsel in distress? Apparently not.
But that didn’t change things, not how Cole saw it. No, she still needed him, and his team. Same as they needed her. And Cole was nothing if not good at convincing people to follow him. Or at least, he used to be.
So he’d try his hand one more time, and hope like hell she didn’t pull that trigger.
Five Star Praise for Outlasting After:
“FANTASTIC END OF WORLD TRILOGY. Loved this series. Read all 3 books in 3 days. It was an apocalyptic romance. And the romance was GOOD! Good plot, good characters, good world, and it just sucked me in and was very enjoyable. Try it you will like.” – Julie O. Amazon Reviewer
“This is the 1st book I’ve read written by LK Magill; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books. The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book. I loved the chemistry between the characters.” – Jeanne Richardson, Goodreads Reviewer

I’ve read several of these dystopian future romance novels now where women have become one of the most valuable commodities. This is at the top 3. It’s a slow-burn romance; a mystery; and suspenseful. It also has heart, and it’s not focused exclusively on filling her up like a long John donut.
This is a new author to me, and I really loved how she told this part of the story. This is only part one, so we don’t get all the answers to everything. The plot is wonderful and it’s an exciting dystopian story. The characters are well written and likable, they have some mystery to them which I am assuming is all answered in the next couple of books in the series. Loved the intrigue, action and romance.

A super well written, very enjoyable start to this so far brilliant series! Not my normal choice of cover, but the blurb grabbed me. I was very pleased I did not judge this story by it’s cover! Great characters, excellent ideas & plotlines. A really great read! I will look for more by this writer & do strongly recommend to all that love end of the world but with a twist of romance. An excellent story!
This was a thought-provoking book. The author spent a lot of time thinking about how men would react if women were on the verge of going extinct in a time of apocalyptic breakdown. It is scary just how realistic this story is and how likely this could happen, but that is what makes this such a good read.
** YOU HAVE TO READ THE FIRST THREE IN THIS SERIES TO GET TO THE ‘END’ OF THIS FIRST PART OF THE STORY. **
I’ve read a couple of these dystopian novels [where the soldiers/men create a base camp ~ find a woman or women (who have become extremely rare commodities) ~ then the woman/women are kidnapped from the camp because they ARE so rare ~ the soldiers follow ~ major fight/war ensues ~ but there’s a bigger picture, though: who is pulling the strings? Who is paying for the outcome of the dissent?]
LK Magill did a great job, even though is is formulaic: the characters were well written, the story line is original , the scenes are real: you feel the cold water/the warm shacks/the guys’ distrust/mistrust of Hannah; you feel their camaraderie; Cole and Liam’s trust in one another; Hannah’s insistence on keeping Cole ‘in charge’, even though it means going against societal norms; her conflict and confusion about actually loving two different men . . . . it all works well ~
I will read the next one, BUT ONLY BECAUSE I HAVE TO ~ I WAS ANGRY THERE WAS **SUCH** A CLIFFHANGER. I’m not sure I would’ve chosen it in the first place had I known ~ I would MUCH prefer a book with 900 or 1000 or 1300 pages than to have to purchase 3 or 4 or 5 chopped-up, cliff-hanger books. MY ONLY COMPLAINT with it (so far)!
This was a very very entertaining read. Magill uses an Original take on how the Apocalypse began and then he throws in the fact that there are no women left in the World. No women until a single one is found. This is quite romantic and has suspense throughout the book. The writing is excellent and quite descriptive so you see pictures in your mind. The ending is, well it is the ending and you should add this book to your to read list. I am very much looking forward to book 2.
Book one in the Outlasting Series a well written post-apocalyptic story. It kept me turning pages until I found out it was a cliff-hanger. I want to read the next book. I received a copy through Hidden Gems and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Chivalry and good, real men are not dead after all
A 5*+ read, Outlasting After: A Strike Team Three Novel (Outlasting Series Book 1) by LK Magill is a very well written post apocalyptic romance that features a group of eight men demonstrating that while the world as they know it might have died, real men have not. This group of men have been together for years thinking all women had been eliminated until Hannah happens along. She may cause some strife within to begin with, but as she comes out of her shell a bit, she quickly becomes the voice of reason as well as the glue the binds the group, making them stronger. Tough decisions lead to an unconventional arrangement, however, it turns out it may just be the best solution for situation and the world the way it is.
The plot of this story, especially Hannah’s unknown history and how it is essentially integral, is slowly revealed. As they all interact, each of these characters, their personalities and talents are discovered and new friendships are forged with Hannah. It’s clear each has a role to play and is integral to the survival in this messed up war ravaged world they find themselves in. Everything about this book is captivating and enthralling. Each character is engaging, full of goodness and heart. The storyline is compelling with it’s suspense and mystery and especially because of the cliffhanger. Things are coming together, yet we are left with even more questions! Questions that can only be answered by continuing the series and that is a must for this reader as I am completely invested in these characters, even (or especially because of) the two rescued women.
Overall, a very well written book with tons of feels, lots of heart, blended in with suspense and the danger of discovery. Although not the typical HEA, Book 1 ends with not only a promise for more, but the promise that while the road may be long and hard, it’s going to be good too for Hannah, Cole and Liam.
I read an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems and voluntarily share my review.
there had been no women for so long or so he thought but there in front of them was one. She looked so lost and dirty so they stopped to help her. Then she pulled a gun. It seems she needs him as much as they need her. What will they do for each other? Can they do it? See if they can
