What’s a girl to do when she needs to bury the memories of her past?Apparently, book a room at a cozy Vermont inn for Christmas…as if that’s going to fix years of pining for the one that got away. It doesn’t matter. This holiday getaway is exactly what the doctor ordered. I’m ready to close that heartbreaking chapter in my life for good and start the new year with a bang. It should be easy. …
It should be easy.
Except there’s one problem—Joe Parker—with that killer smile and those drown-in-me brown eyes. The man who was supposed to be my forever, but instead left my heart shattered and in disarray.
He’s here. In this wintry hamlet. Daring me to risk everything for him. Again.
I came to this small town looking to leave the past behind me, not get reacquainted with an old flame. And yet, one kiss, and I’m consumed by feelings—heart, mind, and soul. He still makes me tingle in all the right places.
Denial is a powerful tool, but how long can I fight falling for him all over again?
Can I trust him enough to give us another shot?
Fans of Jill Shalvis and Nora Roberts will be swept away by One Complicated Christmas, a second-chance standalone holiday romance in a small town, set with mistletoe lurking around every corner. Grab a glass of spiked eggnog and enjoy.

Joe and Sasha meet again after he “ghosted” her in college. He left to save his sister and niece from an abuser. I always have issue with these second chance books where a simple text message or 5 minute call would have solved years of problems, but then where would the drama be. The book is a fast paced, short, fun, holiday read with the expected HEA.
Such a heartwarming second chance at love. As with all of Mika Jolie’s books, I absolutely loved this one. It tugged at my heartstrings and made me laugh. It’ll make you believe in Christmas miracles.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I had the privilege of reading it early. This book did not disappoint it was absolutely fantastic. I read it very fast and it was a very easy read. I loved the characters.
Sasha decided enough is enough after a broken heart 6 years ago and wants to do something about it only fate has other ideas, this proves that unexpected second chances do happen.
Its quite emotional with ups and downs about love, chance and soulmates.
I would love to see this book as a movie it’d be fantastic.
I would highly recommend this book.
Thank you Mika Jolie for sharing your gift of writing with us, you have an amazing talent.
What happens when Sasha goes to a small town to spend Christmas once and for all letting her ex go? Really go?
Well she runs into him of course. Joes the one that left without a word and broke her heart.
This is a wonderful second chance story. Joe and Sasha truly did intend to spend their lives together forever, but circumstances prevented that from happening.
The book is great and the reading was flowing fast. The story is amazing.
I hated how Joe left Sasha. It was brutal and really bad of him.
I don’t know if I could forgave him. At anytime he could have contacted her, if the wanted.
Sasha is a good girl, a little bit lost and hung up on Joe, even after all these years being apart.
I loved the quaint little town.
I received an earc from the author and am voluntarilly leaving an honest review.
Sasha and Joe were college sweethearts Happy and in love until Joe just up and left with no explanation leaving Sasha sad and broken. Years later Sasha just wants to spend Christmas alone and relax so she travels to Yeti, Vermont to take in the beautiful snow filled scenery. Who does she run into but none other than Joe, years of heartache and sadness bubble to the surface but Joe drops a bomb on the whole situation what Sasha believes all these years was not the whole story. Will Sasha give him the chance to explain and a second chance to love her or will she leave it all in the past? This was a sweet, quick read. Great characters.
Imagine going way to a cozy inn to let go of your past and running into the one person who has kept you from moving on. Well Sasha sees Joe and it just gets more confusing for her. This is an incredible holiday sweet romance. You feel their heartaches but you will also feel their joy!
A sweet second-chance romance. 4 stars
I was given an ARC of this book for a review. This was such a cute little story. I read it in a day and enjoyed it a lot. This was the first book that I have read by this author and I will definitely be reading more. I love second chance romances. They make me feel hopeful.
A charming B&B in a picturesque small town, learning to ski, seems like the ideal locale for Sasha to relinquish the vestiges of a romance that ended in heartbreak. Instead she comes face to face with Joe the man who abruptly ended their relationship. There are hurt feelings, justified anger, recriminations, and long deserved answers that need to be addressed. Sasha must decide if it is worth taking another chance on love, or leaving the past in the past. Joe will need to prove he is worth the risk in order to reclaim a love that never died. A sweet, sexy second chance romance.
Some people are soul mates no matter what happens they always end up together. This is a sweet story of two college sweethearts that are parted by life circumstances. It’s been six years since they have seen each other when fate brings them together again. Decisions have to be made about forgiveness before they can think about the future. Good strong characters and a fun story.

One Complicated Christmas
By: Mika Jolie
*REVIEW*
It’s nice to read something light and fun sometimes, and One Complicated Christmas is the perfect choice. Sasha and Joe broke up six years ago when he disappeared without explanation. Now, Sasha is tired of her broken hearted blues, so she goes to a B&B in Vermont, because who doesn’t want to go to Vermont for Christmas, where she intends to learn how to ski and burn letters about Joe. Sasha will have closure at last or so she thinks. Because the universe has a wicked sense of humor, in walks none other than the elusive Joe. Seriously? He has some major explaining to do about his behavior six years prior. Will Sasha finds the answers and closure she seeks? Do Joe and Sasha still harbor feelings for each other? This could be their second chance, or it could be the end for them(again). This story is so charming and fun. I love the setting because it is perfect for love and small miracles. Sasha and Joe are likeable, warm and inspiring, and you will love them. Grab a warm mug of whatever you prefer, a soft fuzzy blanket and settle in for an afternoon of entertaining holiday romance.
Better than a Hallmark Christmas movie!
One Complicated Christmas is perfect for the holiday season. It has a beautiful, intelligent, strong woman and a handsome, loving man who knows how to own up to his wrong doings. And the Vermont scenery is straight from a Hallmark Christmas card. A couple finding each other again in a quant Bed & Breakfast, surrounded by feet of snow, and a town decorated to the nines in tinsel.
This author has brought the smell of pine and warmth of hot chocolate to life in One Complicated Christmas. I loved the supporting characters and hope to see and learn more of their stories. Perfect holiday read!
A sweet Christmas Hallmark movie in a book! Perfect book to read curled up under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate!
This is a sweet short Christmas story about getting a second chances.
Sasha decides to do a Christmas holiday getaway since she has lost her job, parents retired and are on a cruise and she has no one to spend Christmas with. So off she goes to a B & B in Yeti, Vt taking along with her to burn when she gets there are letters she wrote 6 yrs ago to her boyfriend Joe. Joe took off without saying goodbye or telling her why he was leaving. All she heard was the name Emily and thought he was leaving her for this women. She was crushed!
Thinking she has left her past behind imagine how shocked she is to see Joe and find out his Emily is the owner of the B & B she is staying at and Joe who is equally as shocked to see her there.
Can they get back what they had? Is Emily what stands between them?
Put a log on the fireplace, grab some wine or eggnog and enjoy!
What a sweet second chance read that will have you loving this short fast pace read of a love that will making you falling in love again.
I absolutely loved this book. I love a good second chance romance book especially during the holiday season. I loved Joe and Sasha’s story. No matter how long they were apart when you find the one it’s like no time has passed. I am so happy they got their HEA that they deserved. Mika Jolie does it again with this story.
This is a sweet, second chance romance between former college sweethearts, Sasha and Joe, set during the holiday season. Once they re-connect, it is a journey of self-discovery as these two flawed characters figure out a renewed relationship between them with love and intimacy, along with drama, heartache, and forgiveness. It is a love story dealing with the rebuilding of trust and strengthening of love. Overall, it is a heartwarming read with heart, heat, and a happy ending.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This heartwarming Christmas story by Mila Jolie is a Second Chance Romance with all the feels. Sasha has been pining for her college sweetheart Joe who ghosted on her six years ago a few months before graduation. She has never been able to move on so this Christmas while her parents are off on vacation, she decides to travel to a snowy town in Vermont to learn how to ski and burn the past, literally. She has a box of letters she wrote to Joe but was unable to mail because she had no address.
Imagine her shock and dismay when she finds out the town is Joe’s hometown and he is looking better than ever! He is just as shocked to see her, knowing he left and owed her an explanation. They still have a strong connection and sparks fly between them! This is a bittersweet reunion and I felt for Sasha, knowing all the pain she has felt. Joe did not treat her right and he had a lot of groveling to do. Sasha was too forgiving in my opinion.
This was a short, sweet Christmas Novella with a HEA and low angst. I loved it and you will, too. Just settle down by the fire with a blanket and a cup of hot chocolate and relax with this sweet Christmas tale.
It’s a sweet story with a second chance romance in it. So if you like those type of romance you will enjoy this short story.
Saha went alone for Christmas treat. At her resort, she met her long-time no see ex-boyfriend. And this is how everything spins – some things from the past arise, needing the answers and taking care of. But will that be easy?
This story was just ok to me – it hadn’t given me “WoW” erect that makes me driven while reading the story.
I hope that I will love her new book more than this one.
