What’s a girl to do when she needs to bury the memories of her past?Apparently, book a room at a cozy Vermont inn for Christmas…as if that’s going to fix years of pining for the one that got away. It doesn’t matter. This holiday getaway is exactly what the doctor ordered. I’m ready to close that heartbreaking chapter in my life for good and start the new year with a bang. It should be easy. …
It should be easy.
Except there’s one problem—Joe Parker—with that killer smile and those drown-in-me brown eyes. The man who was supposed to be my forever, but instead left my heart shattered and in disarray.
He’s here. In this wintry hamlet. Daring me to risk everything for him. Again.
I came to this small town looking to leave the past behind me, not get reacquainted with an old flame. And yet, one kiss, and I’m consumed by feelings—heart, mind, and soul. He still makes me tingle in all the right places.
Denial is a powerful tool, but how long can I fight falling for him all over again?
Can I trust him enough to give us another shot?

ONE COMPLICATED CHRISTMAS by Mika Jolie is set in Weston, Vermont, and Vermont is one of my favorite settings.
Sasha Kovac is spending Christmas at a cozy inn in Vermont after her parents leave on cruise for the holidays. She’s come to Vermont for two reasons—to learn to ski and to burn the letters she wrote to her old boyfriend, Joe Parker, who ghosted her six years ago. She’d thought he was the love of her life, but she’d never been so wrong.
Joe can’t believe it when he sees Sasha in his sister’s inn, the woman he’d never forgotten, the woman he’d walked away from to take care of his family. Now that Sasha’s here, all Joe wants for Christmas is forgiveness and a second chance with Sasha.
I loved this author’s writing. So fresh and honest, she delivers the perfect Christmas read! Can’t wait to read more from her.
I love this book as it’s a Christmas story and that is my favorite time of the year. Anyway I really enjoyed Sasha and Joe’s story. It is difficult for Sasha to hide her emotions from the guy she thought she still be with and well Joe feels regret from not reaching out to her and telling her what had happen back then. But, it was fun to read her frustration and yet at the same time do things with him like skiing. I don’t want to give too much away for this is one book you should read.
A sweet second chance romance with a Christmas theme! Loved reading Sasha and Joe’s story!
One Complicated Christmas by Mika Jolie
This is a very sweet Christmas read. It is all about being true to yourself, trusting in your instincts/judgement, being open and willing to follow your heart even though it may not be smart to do that. Sasha was ghosted by the guy she thought she would marry 6 years ago, and she has not been able to forget him in all this time. Maybe that should tell her something. Joe and Sasha come face to face on her get away, and you can feel the sizzle between them. Will she be open to talking to him and finding out his story? Will she give him a second chance to prove his love? Has Joe moved on or forgotten her? Do you believe in fate? You might if you read this. I loved the present he gave her after her sending him a text about something that symbolizes new beginnings. I fell in love with Joe and Sasha…and was happy with how everything turned out.
I really liked this cozy Christmas story. I could not put it down. The characters had great chemistry but for me it was the story itself that pulled me in.
One Complicated Christmas
Mika Jolie
One Complicated Christmas is a holiday romance. It’s a quick, easy read and the first book I’ve read by the author. It’s a second chance romance. The main characters, Sasha and Joe fell in love while at college. Joe left Sasha during his second semester but never gave her any reason why. 6 years later Sasha gets her answers in the last place she’d expect. When Sasha’s parent take a cruise over Christmas, she decides to go to Vermont and stays at a B&B. It comes as a surprise to her when she learns its owned by someone connected to Joe. When Sasha sees Joe for the first time, the feelings from long ago flood her senses. She’s been trying to heal from their painful breakup. When Sasha learns the reason why he left her and that he never meant to hurt her like he did. Joe asks her if she’d continue her stay at the B&B until Christmas. He admits that he never quit thinking about her. She ends up giving it a chance. This couple finds the love they thought was lost and well deserved HEA.
I was indifferent to this book. I thought it was cute and I did like it. I guess I was just hoping for a better ending and maybe even a prolonged ending or some into the future chapter. I did love the fact that they found each other again after so many years! Overall, such a cute story!
Joe and Sasha’s second chance romance is sweet and cut. Meeting again after a 6 year absence, with no explanation has thrown bot Joe and Sasha for a loop. Joe then realises how much he missed Sasha and goes about winning her heart again. A quick read. I am really hoping that Emily gets her own story!!
I loved this second chance story. It was a more spicy Hallmark-like movie. There’s nothing cozier than having a story setting in a town that you see on greeting cards and in paintings. It had the first love/heartbreak setting, tragedy, a sweet family, some loneliness, the dreaded misunderstanding that lasted far too long (which I’m still shaking my head at), and it was during Christmas. Swoon!
Amazing Second Chance Romance Novel!!!
Sasha Kovak is only interested in going to Vermont to learn how to ski, be on vacation for the first time alone, and to get over the man who left her with a broken heart six years prior once and for all. But when she gets to the beautiful snowy mountain it’s unlike anything she has seen but she doesn’t expect to see HIM…what is she going to do now?
Joe Parker is a ski instructor and also half owner of a B&B with his sister Emily. He goes on with his day to day life as usual. But he still hasn’t forgotten his ex and how he left things with her. Wishing that he could go back in time but knowing that he can’t change the past. But Emily is here…and she is just as beautiful as he remembers…but angrier. He wants to explain but he doesn’t know-how.
This novel is about finding that one person who understands you better than anyone else, and realizing that no matter how hard you tried you never get over your first love. But also finding a way to move past all of the hurt and move forward together for a better future. It’s a beautiful read.
This is such a great second chance romance story. Sasha is ready to move on. Its been 6 years since the love of her life ghosted her. She is on her own for Christmas, the first ine in a long time. She chooses this little town that looks like a Hallmark movie set. Little does she know, the place ahe is staying at is also helped out by her ex that she is trying to forget. This is Sasha and Joe’s story and what a great adventure it is.
This was such an adorable second chance romance! Perfect holiday read!
One Complicated Christmas was a great book! I love second chance romances and this one was amazing! Sasha and Joe’s characters were perfectly written. I must say though, I would have liked their backstory to have been something a bit more complicated than Joe leaving to help his sister and him not calling for a few weeks. I also thought that Sasha just assumed he left her for someone else and changed her number after only a couple of weeks of not hearing from him was a bit dramatic and maybe unrealistic. But I would definitely love to read more from Ms. Jolie!
A sweet, second chance romance that gets you in the mood for the holiday season. Great characters, chemistry from the very beginning, adorable nieces and writing that keeps you invested from start to finish are the reasons you should be reading this short, holiday story.
This book is labeled a second chance love from a horrible experience of rejection. Sasha goes to Yeti, Vermont for the holidays met with now and fun, but she runs into Joe, her college sweetheart. The story intertwines with humorous, heartfelt emotion, and witty experiences that melt the heart. The moment I started the book I couldn’t put it down, but I won’t spoil the story. I give the book a five.
Who doesn’t love a great Christmas story. I read this book curled up tight. It’s a second chance romance that leaves you wanting more. Great characters makes this book one of my top reads for this year. Amazing book and highly recommended.
ONE PLEASURABLE EXPERIENCE!!!
Sweet heat! Mika produces one unbelievable refreshing spin that’s so heartwarming and touching with such passion, finesse and style that blows this little gem wide open. Amazingly vivid and well rounded scenario’s that punch dead center with such intensity propelling this little jewel into a tailspin with mystifying results. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue and sincerity surges as tension spirals fusing this baby together flawlessly. The chemistry mounts as each layer is peeled back exposing an undeniable bond and amplifying affections that catapult this jewel to life beautifully. The personalities are well matched and blended with enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow magnificently. Remarkable job Mika, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.
Cute, sweet and steamy a lovely second chance Holiday themed read. Grab this for all the feels.
I have to say I really loved this book. Someone trying to start over her past that she finds so hard to forget. Runs right into her past. The problem is he hasn’t forgotten her either. The characters are great and have the same passion for each other as they did before, but so many things were done and so much hurt….This is a great love story with some twists you might not see that come.
Six years ago, Sasha’s “love of her life” totally ghosted her. No calls, no note, no explanation, just gone. To save her sanity, Sasha pours all her love, hurt and anger into letters to her MIA lover. Now, six years later, it’s time to move on so Sasha plans a getaway week to a quaint Vermont B&B intending to burn the letters and leave Joe’s memory and her hurt behind, but of course life can be unpredictable as that lovely B&B turns out to be owned and operated by the missing Joe and his sister. I real and true story of love lost and second chances. This is my first Mika Jolie book. I was impressed and eager to read more. Thank you for the perfect holiday story.
