Not Another Nob is the 32nd book in The Marriage Maker series, but is great as a standalone. I haven’t read any of the series before but I don’t think I missed anything. It was a short sweet romance that you couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters. The men in the Dorrill and Peabody family were business enemies. Claire Dorrill was tired of her brother, Ethan, trying to force her to marry a titled gentleman. She was glad to escape for a while to her friend Amy’s, houseparty to get away from the men Ethan kept introducing to Claire. On the way to the house party her carriage broke. While they waited for help to arrive, Benjamin Peabody came upon them and stopped to check on them. Neither one of them introduced themselves with their real names or said where they were going. When Ben and Claire saw each other at the house party they were surprised but then alarmed once they realized their families were enemies. Ben was determined to mend the families differences so they could be married, but Claire’s brother wasn’t going to make things easy. Can the families come to a compromise so Ben and Claire can have their HEA? This was a short book but perfect if looking for a sweet fast to read book. It wasn’t very realistic that they could fall in love in a day but with the book being so short it had to be fast paced.

Love at first sight….that very first glance in each other’s eyes, that instant spark of mutual attraction and knowing that he/she is THE one! This delightful novella written by Annabelle Anders, is the story of Claire and Benjamin and their quest to be together, all the while getting their brothers, who are business rivals, to accept such a liaison. Of course, nothing comes easy and even though Claire and Ben have a plan, things don’t go according to that plan!!
I thought the story very well written and entertaining, in the style that only this author can deliver:) I was given an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Very sweet and intriguing
Enchanting! All you want in a delightful historical romance wrapped up in a fast, romantic, humorous story that will have you smiling and sighing at the same time! Classic Annabelle Anders who always pulls me in from the first sentence and does not let go until the last!
A chance meeting when her coach broke down. He stopped to see if he could assist. An instant attraction to say the least! Plus a delightful little dog (dachsund I presume!) named Elmer, or stinkerd or benighted little devil..
He thought she was a lady and he presented himself as a gentleman. They were neither and perfect for each other!!!
“When he’d touched her, something inside had recognized his heart-his soul.” sigh, double sigh.
Should I say more? I think not because you will love every word of this story that stole my heart!!
Trust me, you will never be disappointed by a story by this author!
When Claire and Benjamin meet they are not honest with each other as to who they really are. Their second meeting they realize they are both from common backgrounds and of course their brothers are arch rivals in business.
Can their love overcome their family hatred? I enjoyed this romantic short book.
Not Another Nob by Annabelle Anders
A chance meeting, a love of a lifetime. What started as a getaway to a friends house party ended up a love story between an unsuspecting couple who’s families just happen to be the worst of enemies! I really enjoyed this historical romance story for its great writing, vibrant characters, and witty dialogue. I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down.
How two persons drawn to one another can find a way together when a family feud might torn them apart?
I discovered this series written by multiple authors when I learned an author I have come to love had a book coming out today.
I love Mrs Annabelle Anders writing style, it is lively, colorful and at time quippish.
In spite of the shortness of this tale, the main characters didn’t sound like classic paper heroes, they were more flesh and blood than ink.
Because of her bother’s ambition, Claire needs to escape London and its cohort of unsuitable suitors. This is how she meets Benjamin.
Their encounter is an instant recognition between two errand souls. But they struggle with their feelings because of the business rivalry between their own older brothers. Follows an exhausting chase, one afraid of missing the other when the later thinks everything is over.
For a short read, it was really entertaining and with quite a cast of pittoresques characters.
If you are looking for a past paced short read with a touch of humor, this one is the perfect read.

Fun light hearted novel. Claire is the sister of Ethan, a wealthy business owner who is determined to marry her to an aristocrat. The lordlings are in debt and desperate for her dowry, yet they treat Claire very poorly because she is not a blue blood.
Benjamin is the younger brother of Ethan’s biggest competitor. He and Claire encounter each other on the way to a weekend house party and have a mutual attraction. First, they mistake each other for members of the aristocracy. Then they discover that their brothers are competitors. But Benjamin continues to court Claire as their attraction deepens.
Needless to say, the courtship does not go smoothly, and there are misunderstandings,
along with mischief from Claire’s brother.
Claire and Benjamin are well developed characters that I found myself rooting for, and even Ethan has been depicted in such a way that we understand that he is not a villain, but an older brother wanting what he perceives to be the best for his sister. I was thoroughly entertained by this story and will be looking forward to more books by Ms. Anders.

Captivating, delightful historical romance story. The characters are strong and intriguing. The well-written book kept my attention throughout, enjoyed reading. I have voluntarily chosen to read and review this book.
Claire Dorrill is tired of her brother Ethan’s attempts to marry her into aristocracy. She has convinced him to allow her to visit her best friend Amy Fairchild for a party at their estates. While traveling the carriage has a mishap, and the coachman must leave her and her companion alone to seek assistance. While Claire and her companion wait, a handsome gentleman comes across them and refuses to leave them alone. Through a series of interactions while waiting, both young people assume false identities and chemistry begins to work. When the coachman returns and the two go on their way, both are guilt ridden that they didn’t share their true identities. When Claire finally arrives for the festivities at the Fairchiild estate, she actually meets the the gentleman who she had met when the carriage was broken. The two realize they have been given a second chance until they reveal their true identities and learn their brothers are bitter business rivals. From there the story becomes outrageous and delightful. Pure fun.
They are both common
Not gentry and when they first met, they both thought the other was of the nobility.
Claire wants to choose her own husband, not one her brother picked for her.
Ben is wealthy but of common stock. He’s smitten with Claire but then finds out she’s the sister of their business rival.
Will ruin ruination for her allow them to he together?

Book thirty-two of The Marriage Maker series a well written short story that I enjoyed reading. This book kept me smiling as I read Claire and Benjamin’s story. They both have older brothers that hate each other thus making their courtship difficult. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Not Another Nob is part of The Marriage Maker series and is a short entertaining historical romance. Claire and Benjamin are charming characters that fall in love at first sight. The only problem is that their older brothers hate each other. This story has humour, drama, and sweet romance. Wonderful for a quick read between appointments.
I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Flame blue eyes oh my!
Traveling to a friend’s home Claire’s coach broke down while waiting for help to arrive a handsome gentleman rode up. There was an instant attraction but she knew that he would not look at her if he knew she was just a merchant’s daughter. Benjamin Peabody, on the other hand, figured this lady would have nothing to do with him either as he was a commoner. So their first meeting went with neither knowing the truth. Later they meet again there is a problem as their families were enemies. I loved the interaction between these characters and I enjoyed the story a great deal. It was a quick read and so much fun. I highly recommend you check it out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a fun, super short read. It probably is the length of many romantic novellas out there, but it was just so pleasant and involving that it felt like it was over very quickly. What I enjoyed was the very humorous aspect of the story. It started on page 1 and continued throughout. I did think it was odd that the story is written in almost what I would call more of a contemporary style, with sometimes very short paragraphs of only maybe a word, a phrase, or a sentence. In general, I do not like that in historical romances. I like my paragraphs to be a bit more long and formal. But this author was able to make it work. Parts of it were very amusing. There is definitely a Romeo-and-Juliet vibe, as the families of the hero and heroine are sworn enemies. The heroine has a bit of an added difficulty in that her brother wants her to marry post haste; in fact, that is what the opening scene of the book is about. This novella is a delight if you enjoy humorous Regency romance.
I recieved a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Claire Dorrill is tired of her overbearing brother who is determined to make her a good match with a proper husband. However, Claire doesn’t want a titled gentleman, she wants love.
She convinces her brother to let her go a friend’s house party and meets a gentleman that she falls in love with, Benjamin Peabody. However, Ben does not introduce himself as Peabody, nor does Claire introduce herself as Dorrill. Once the two realize who the other is they eventually decide to try to make things work, even though they each know that their families are enemies.
Can the two work things out even though their families are enemies?

This book is another one in the multi-author Marriage Maker Series. Most of the novellas that I have read in this series have been on the sweet side with only hints of intimacy. This one only includes kissing and a night when the hero spent one night in the young lady’s chamber on the floor to make it appear as if improprieties had occurred.
Will attraction lead to their marriage or will family hate keep them apart?
I gave this title 4.25 of 5.0 stars for story line. Since this is a short read character development has no bearing.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Love at first sight – not my favorite type of story but this one was nice. Claire and Benjamin not wanting each other to find out who they are pose as people they are not. I did like that aspect of the story. Maybe because it was way too short to really develop these characters that I was left wanting more. I think this should have been a novella (at least 150 pages) or a novel. I could see the misunderstanding growing and becoming a turning point in their relationship.

Family rivalries are no match for love.
Margaret Claire Dorrill sister of the extremely wealthy Ethan wants to marry for love not some ass of a nob. On the way to a house party her coach breaks down & whilst waiting for a replacement a blond haired adonis rides up who claims he’s the Baron of Jester & she inroduces herself as Miss Claire Dubois. He thinks she’s a lady and she thinks he’s a gentleman. Even so, the seeds of romance are planted when they meet over a broken carriage and Elmer,a small dog.
They meet again at the house party & realise that their families are sworn enemies & business rivals.
A lovely short read that I read in a sitting, misleading identities, love at first sight, warring families all made for an engrossing read. Well rounded characters, which isn’t easy to do in a novella raised this lovely romance above the norm. There was plenty of humour too plus a short legged dog
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I just loved this short, romantic, humorous story with enchanting characters! Ms. Anders writes such fun, entertaining & “feel good” stories & you find yourself smiling when you read the last words.
Claire Dorrill & Benjamin Peabody meet by chance – he insist are staying with Claire & her maid until the coachman returns. He introduces himself as a gentlemen (he thinks she is a lady) & she uses her mother’s maiden name. The are both from wealthy trade families & part ways when the coachman returns. Claire can’t stop dreaming of Benjamin but heads to her friends estate to the house party & Benjamin has Claire’s image in his mind & knows he must find a way to discover her whereabouts. When Claire joins the guests, she & Benjamin come face to face – they both are very happy to see each other again but how will the explain the fake names. On top of that, they are from feuding families as their older brothers are arch enemies in the same business.
Fun, fireworks, angry older brothers, romance & a lot of humor follow. I highly recommend this read & Ms. Anders put so much in to this short story that I really felt like I got to know the characters & it didn’t feel short at all.
