The feel-good romantic comedy bestseller! Twenty-five-year-old Sophie McCarthy’s career is virtually nonexistent, her family expects her to “do something important” with her life, and she’s totally sick of dating the wrong guys: the self-absorbed, the arrogant, the borderline criminally insane.
After she’s unceremoniously dumped during the vows at her boss’s wedding, she and her two equally disappointed-in-love best friends agree to help each other find decent guys to date. Together, they form the No More Bad Dates Pact: stop dating the wrong guys and start dating the right ones–weirdos and jerks need not apply.
When Sophie’s roommate Jason Christie–a.k.a. doctor-in-training and serial nurse-dater–joins the pact, he vows to weed out the bad ones for her. But with his rejection of every guy Sophie meets, she begins to wonder if he’s got an ulterior motive. And anyway, why does she always have so much more fun with Jason than with the guys she’s actually trying to date?
While desperately seeking her “happy for now,” could Sophie stumble into her “happily ever after?”

The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.
The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.

This is a very fun, sexy, engaging and highly entertaining romantic journey that had me laughing and crying… enjoyed this journey from beginning to end. Excellent reading experience that was so hard to put down, looking forward to more from this series.
What a hilarious, sweet read.
This series is a feel-good series that needs to be read to improve your life, lol.
The characters are quirky and the plots are so much fun to read.
This author has making you laugh and feel-good down pat.
Good start to this series. Will read the rest
This is the first book I have read by Kate O’Keeffe and I really enjoyed it. The “No More Bad Date Pact” is a pact between Sophie and her friends to help each other vet their potential dates to weed out the really bad ones. But when Sophie’s roommate, Jason, offers to help he turns away far too many suitors. Maybe Sophie has been looking in the wrong place all this time.
This is a lighthearted romantic comedy with great characters and dialogue. A great read for a lazy afternoon.

No More Bad Dates is the first book in High Tea series and an very enjoyable read that offers lots of small town charm, humor and sweetness. Sophie’s siblings have an intervention – they want a better career for her than what she’s doing now. She’s a barista and a bakery/cafe, she’s good and she loves it. She was dumped by her date at her boss’ wedding. She and her besties make a pact – no more bad dates. They’re going to vet all potential suitors for each other. Sophie’s roommate Jason decides to join in the fun – to give a male point of view. But he finds problems with all of her options. She realizes that she has feelings for him, but won’t act on them because he’s a “serial monogamist”. This book was so cute – funny reading about friends and family coming together. The characters were fun and funny, and karoake night must have been a blast with this group!

When these 3 friends decide they are tired of all the bad dates and weirdos they make a pact and set out to try to help each other accomplish the feat of finding love without having any more bad dates with strange men, who can be anything from just plain weird to total jerks. You’ll love the characters in these books. I recommend you also read the first few books that are a part of the Cozy Cottage Cafe series, although not needed you will enjoy them!

Sophie McCarthy was attending her boss’s wedding with her boyfriend, Andrew. The vows they had written and recited were so beautiful that almost everyone had to reach for tissues, even the men who would never admit to it! She looked over at Andrew, but saw his face wrinkled in disgust for the loving words being spoken! Can’t he see how much they love each other? When she sighs and tells him one day they may be in love like that, he decides to break it off, to dump her — the fun is over! As Cassie, one of her Cozy Cottage Café regulars, walks over to comment about the lovely wedding, she asks Sophie if the guy ahead of them holding a bimbo in a sleezy red dress is the guy she had brought as her date! Dumped and humiliated – this was not a good day for Sophie.
Chatting with her friends, Erin and Darcy, the three realized a common problem in choosing nice guys to date. They all had stories to tell of the self-absorbed, the arrogant, and just plain crazy guys they had dated. This led Sophie to suggesting they form what became known as the “No More Bad Date Pact.” They would look out for each other’s interests and decide if the potential date was someone who could at least make them happy for now, nothing permanent, just NOT their usual bad choices!
Sophie’s roommate, Jason Christie — studying to be a doctor and known for the number of nurses he dated — joins their pact to weed out the bad choices, from a guy’s perspective. It sounded like a good plan! But Jason seemed to find fault with each one of Sophie’s choices. She finally becomes aware that being with him is lots more fun than the dates she has been on. But with all those nurses he dates, he can’t be a good choice . . . could he? Will she choose to hide her feelings, thinking anything more is impossible? Or will she realize that just maybe the right choice is there in front of her and worth taking a chance on?
This was a cute bit of light reading enjoyment. The story line was clever, and the dialog that went on kept the reader laughing. It’s nice to see friends and family come together to support the people they care about.
Three friends form the No More Bad Dates Pact: stop dating the wrong guys and start dating the right ones – weirdos and jerks need not apply.
A good entertaining story with fun characters. Sophie gets dumped at a wedding of all places and can’t seem to find the right guy. She and her friends decide no more bad dates. Will this help Sophie find her Mr. Right and a HEA? This is the first book I’ve read from this author and found it to be a nice romantic comedy.

Pleasant read. Sophie’s love-life is in shambles and her newly formed ‘potential boyfriend interrogating system’ by her friends makes an attempt at eliminating the crazies from the potential boyfriend pool. It is a sweet little romance which reaches its resolution only in the last chapter, just before the epilogue. The characters are well described although Sophie is a bit weak, allowing herself to be dictated by her family, even if admittedly she quietly resists. Jason and Sophie’s deep room-mate/ best friend relationship is so precious to them both that neither of them are ready to admit their feelings for each other in fear of losing their strong bond. As Sophie said, girl’s may come and go but she is a permanent fixture in Jason’s life. However, love wins in the end and our pair reach their HEA. This is a very clean romance.

Everyone needs that sort of a pact: no more bad dates.
Truly everyone deserves to enjoy the dating experience, dell respected in the process and have fun along the way.
I am someone who experienced some legendary bad set ups: The dude who was arrested for assaulting an 80 year old man in a flower shop. The gay guy who had yet to realize he was gay – despite his spending our so called date flirting with our gay male waiter. We dare not forget the activist from Oregon who stood me up at a Russian Officers club – ended by a strategically aimed cocktail fork from my hand, a guy from Delta Force, and an armed escort back to my hotel .
Being single in your twenties is sometimes fairly hideous.
Happily Sophie and her friends manage to hold together- and have some hilarious times during their search for reasonable fun guys to date – who do not have weird shoe fetishes.
A great book of fun, humor, huge frustrations- and occasionally love !

Loved the first installment of no more bad dates. I can’t wait to read the other two books in the series. I’m glad Sophie got her HEA.

I’m so glad Kate O’Keeffe has invited us back to the Cozy Cottage Café in this new series! Having witnessed the magic of the Last First Date Pact, barista Sophie, freshly and ignobly dumped, enlists Darcy and Erin, her two best friends, into a pact of their own: The No More Bad Dates Pact. They, along with Sophie’s incredibly hunky doctor-to-be roommate, Jason, will put all potential dates through a rigorous screening process to weed out the jerks and weirdos.
Sophie’s family follows a similar script, staging career interventions on her during their Mandatory McCarthy Meals. With the threat of unpaid internships and bunking with her parents on the table if she doesn’t get herself a more meaningful career, Jason’s habit of flitting from one pretty nurse to the next, and dates with men possessing unforgivable (and hilarious) quirks despite making it through the interview stage, Sophie’s life is in free fall.
Once again, O’Keeffe brings to life realistic characters and situations, delivered in a lighthearted, easy-to-read tone. If you’ve missed Paige, et al. and the delicacies of the Cozy Cottage Café, make yourself a reservation for tasty high tea service, laughs, and romance with Sophie and Jason.
This was a quick, funny read. Great characters and setting. Love coffee & tea houses. Really enjoyed the bad dates! I’ve been married for 35 years and would hate to have to date again. LOL!! Much rather read Ms. O’Keefe’s books!

No More Bad Dates is a witty, fun, spin-off book to the Cozy Cottage series. (It works great as a stand alone.) Ms. O’Keeffe creates great communities of friends with the usual angst about families, relationships and love. Poor Sophie is hounded by her siblings “to get a real job.” (How many of us can relate?) Will Sophie find the HFN she seeks or will she maybe find her HEA? You have to read this well written, well paced book to find out!
