Addison Cole’s Nights at Seaside is a deeply moving novel. Tattoo artist Sky Lacroux and poet Sawyer Bass are featured in this sexy, contemporary stand-alone read. The characters appealed to me and their journey touched my heart!
The author’s expressive writing style shines in Nights at Seaside. I could feel the connection between Sawyer and the audience at the Governor Bradford Inn as he began to sing on open mic night. I sensed that the intensity of Sawyer’s persona and the words in his ballad drew Sky to him like a moth to a flame. I enjoyed that the author focused on words throughout the novel. The importance of words and phrases are significant to Sky. As a tattoo artist she inks meaningful words and phrases on her customers. Sky collects scraps of paper with phrases from the mysterious P-Town poet and she is curious to discover the identity of the P-Town poet as she believes they are kindred souls. Sawyer is a complex character who cares deeply and passionately for those he loves. He is focused on helping his parents through a financial and medical situation. His writing, singing and the phrases that are tattooed on his back are an outlet for him to express himself creatively.
Addison Cole’s words flow like poetry in this novel. Sky and Sawyer are the perfect description for the word soulmates. They understand each other and their love story is very romantic. The author doesn’t waiver in her portrayal of Sky and her feelings towards fighting – it goes against her beliefs. Sky’s struggle with fighting, bloodshed and Sawyer’s desire to provide for his family is the crux of the drama in the novel. Does Sky believe in Sawyer enough to trust in their love?
Choices are important to each of the characters in this novel. Sky, Sawyer and Sawyer’s parents have difficult choices to make throughout the story. The conclusion to Nights at Seaside was perfectly written—both characters stayed true to their beliefs—have some Kleenex on hand. Loved the epilogue and I agree with Sawyer’s grandmother’s advice!
This is my favorite book in Addison Cole’s sweet version of the Seaside series and I highly recommend it. The author’s words perfectly portray the unique, endearing characters and their hard-fought personal and professional struggles. Nights at Seaside is on my keeper shelf.

4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novel Seaside Summers book 5: Seaside Nights: Sky and Sawyer by Melissa Foster and this review was given freely.
A poignant story of courtship, dealing with loss and finding both a new direction and fulfillment. Set the summer after all the original Seaside crowd married, this story contains an eclectic mix of topics such as post concussion brain injury, Parkinsons, sexual orientation plus an ironic attraction at first sight romance. As Tattoo artist Sky achieves her business goals, she feels the loss of a personal life until some chance meetings and stray phrases from the P-town Poet lead her to professional boxer, rugged guitarist and songwriter Sawyer Bass. The romance is complicated by Sky’s dislike for violence and Sawyers worry over his career, his health, and his father’s health.

A fitting conclusion to the Lacroux family Seaside romances containing a wonderful group of friends, some humor and a lot of steamy scenes. Dissatisfied Princeton professor Matt takes a sabbatical in Seaside to write a book, celebrate the triple wedding of his siblings, help try to save his father’s hardware store, and to have a closer relationship with both his family and the woman he fantasizes about, his father’s employee, single mother Mira.
Great beach read
Nights at Seaside is book six in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series. Sky finally gets her tattoo shop, and things are looking up. Sawyer is a professional boxer, playing guitar at night to ease his pain. When Sawyer sees Sky, all other thoughts of escaping reality go out the window. He is drawn to her. When they finally do meet, there is an instant connection. But there is one thing that holds Sky back. Can she overlook this and find true love? Will Sawyer’s demons be laid to rest? I really enjoyed this story and the narrator. This is definitely one to pick up!
Breathtakingly beautiful, this sweet and sexy love story will fill your heart with hope and dreams. Sky is seeing her dreams come true. Her tattoo shop is taking shape, business is good, she loves her neighborhood and has great friends. When she hears a singer at open mic night,Sky never expects her world to shift.
More than a love story, this is about staying true to ones values and discovering how difficult decisions have both consequences and benefits.
We get to experience the joy of the whole Seaside gang as a couple of the ladies are expecting new family additions. Everyone is looking forward to a bright future. Even the pranks are moving forward.
Sky and Sawyer are amazing together. They seem to want the same things but have very different ideas about how to achieve them.
“In your eyes I found myself.” In your soul I found my savior.
Sky is a free spirited tattoo artist with a little bohemian side. She’s excited about her new tattoo shop, loves life in Provincetown with its eclectic world and the peaceful side of Seaside where her best friends all own cottages and have found the love of their lives. She begins to yearn what they have, a love so strong that it turns your world upside down. Without warning, Sky’s world finally collides with Sawyer, the poet, the singer, the strummer. She falls under his spell and is attracted to every side of him but one ; his career as a boxer. The violence of it goes against all her beliefs……Will Sawyers softer sides be enough to win her heart ?…….
Sawyer loves to box, it saved him once and he masters the sport like an art. He knows the beautiful woman that stole his heart the first time he laid eyes on tries to understand his passion, to see past the violence and the finesse it requires as well as the dedication and concentration. He wants a future with her no matter what, but he has a secret he is not willing to share just yet………
Sawyer struggles between his love for his family, fighting to secure their future and his health that could cost him a future with his soulmate….
A beautiful, well written story that immerse us in the dreamy world of poetry, music , arts and in the brutal reality of life. The sacrifice people are ready to make for loved ones and the importance of friendship and family. Love and honor, trust and commitment.
I loved getting back into the Seaside gang once again
The emotional ups and downs, sexual chemistry, the battles within, without, self-acceptance, and realization comes to play in this one. It is a beautiful read that comes with its own sensuality and life’s hits. One boxer that has taken just a bit too much from life and a lovely tattoo shop owner that finds something in the other that makes life more than it currently was.
Sky & Sawyer have a heat that travels the length of a room and an emotional chemistry that feels the air. You are in for a very emotional tug of war between Sky’s heart and her beliefs. She wants to be with Sawyer but his profession leaves her shaking her head.
Pick up a copy of Nights at Seaside and watch how Sky and Sawyer fall in love and make things work beyond their differences. Sawyer was that sweet, strong, caring man that loved music, poetry, family, and Sky.
This was most certainly another hit maker in this series that just keeps given and delivering.
Sky first sees Sawyer at an open mic night, and she is immediately drawn to him. He’s a “handsome creature,” Sky’s words, but it is his voice and the lyrics of his song that pull her in. When he is notices her, he is drawn to her as well. When he later turns up at her tattoo shop for a new tattoo, the chemistry grows even more. When he notices the book of poetry by C.J. Moon, he is even more intrigued. She is unlike any woman he has ever met. That moment is magical, and the two fall pretty quickly for each other.
Something bigger than themselves has guided these two to each other. Sky is still mourning the loss of her mother, and Sawyer has begun to fill that void. She has an amazing group of family and friends, yet she is lonely. As they have found their soulmates, Sky has found herself wanting the same love they have found, and she thinks Sawyer could give her that. However, Sawyer is dealing with his father’s deteriorating health. He suffers from Parkinson’s Disease, and Sawyer needs income to pay for his continuing care. He is a boxer, and he does very well. But, he runs the risk of sacrificing his own health as he has had several concussions. He has been advised by his doctor to quit fighting, but he’s caught in a hard place. He is fighting for his family but risks losing them and now Sky.
This is the first book I have read by Addison Cole, and I am hooked. They really are sweet with just the right amount of heat. I loved her writing style…it’s almost poetic…much like Sawyer’s words. Both characters were incredibly well-developed and realistic. Cole did a wonderful job of tapping into both Sky and Sawyer’s emotions. That became abundantly clear when she first introduced Sawyer singing at open mic night.
“People walked by outside, oblivious to the storm brewing inside himself, like everyone else in this place.”
That one passage gave me such insight to his character. Sky seems to be his calm in the storm. She’s loving, loyal, and supportive.
I highly recommend this book if you are looking for something sweet but yet with a little heat. I am looking forward to reading more from Addison Cole.
In this addition to the Sweet with Heat series from Addison Cole, we are greeted to the story or Sky Lacroux and Sawyer Bass. Sky is such a mellow, down to earth, free spirit who has just opened her tattoo shop Inky Skies, she has been mentioned in previous books but you do not have to have read them prior to this as each character gets their own unique story.
Sawyer Bass couldn’t be any more different from Sky if he tried, he is a boxer and is doing one last fight in the hopes that he can earn enough money to help out his parents. He may be a boxer but oh boy, he is nothing like a typical boxer, he has a sensitive and romantic side to him that Sky gets to see, but she is worried about the whole boxing situation,.
Boxing is a part of Sawyers life and a way to help his parents, but it could make or break his relationship with Sky she is worried about him and tries to get him to change his mind but it seems fate has a way to interfering when they least expect it to.
As with all of Addison’s books there is plenty of heat and sizzle between them with just enough hint of spice, Nights at Seaside is a great addition to the Sweet with Heat series and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Loved this story! Innocent bohemian tattoo artist Skye meets poet, songwriter, boxer Sawyer. She
Isn’t sure she can live with the violence in boxing. He has a secret. The doctors have told him one good hit could cause him to be handicapped. However, he wants one more fight to provide for his parents. Skye is trying to tell him to concentrate on his songs.
Can Skye live with his boxing? Will he tell her his medical diagnosis? Will he fight again?
This is not a typical Melissa Foster story but is great in its own right. Love it & can’t wait for the next one!!
I absolutely loved, Nights at Seaside!!
Addison Cole has given us another
fabulous book!!
It is a beautifully written love story about Sky & Sawyer. Two people, who see each other across a bar, one evening.
Fate brought them together the next day. Sawyer wanted to add a tattoo,
of something he’d written. He walked into
Inky Skies, & there she was. While Sky
was working on Sawyer’s tattoo, they got to know each other.
Their chemistry is undeniable.
To me, there is so much, to this special story. The words, & their meaning, are felt
deep inside of you. Even the relationship’s of everyone at Seaside, & the accepting
of Sawyer, into the fold, are wonderful.
It is a very touching story, & I thoroughly
enjoyed reading it!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE!!
In a world of many colors, Skye looks at the world through rose colored glasses. She sees the good in life, despite the many heartbreaks heaped upon her family. That optimism can prove to be both a blessing and a curse. The higher the aim, the more emotional the disappointment is when it comes. Luckily she has friends to watch her back and lift her spirits when the clouds become too much. When fate places her in the path of a stranger with a gift for music that calls to her heart, she’s close to fulfilling all her dreams. Or is she? What happens when your soulmate turns out to be all wrong in your head, but perfect for your heart? Nights at Seaside tackles many themes. Friendship, family, sobriety and the healing power of love. Informative, realistic and emotional. The calling card of any good romance.
