It’s Lilah Love’s job to inhabit a killer’s mind. The unapologetically tough FBI profiler is very comfortable there. But her latest case is making her head spin. It’s a string of brutal assassinations carried out across the country, each tied to a mysterious tattoo. Body by body, she’s followed the clues all the way back to her hometown. And every step of the way, the killer has been following … her.
Here, beneath the glamour of the privileged Hamptons community, is a secret long buried but never forgotten. It’s bigger than Lilah. It’s powerful enough to escape the reach of the FBI. And it’s more personal than anyone can imagine. Because it’s hiding in Lilah’s own past. To fight it, she’s forced to turn to her lethally tempting ex, Kane Mendez. He’s an expert at bringing out Lilah’s darkest impulses. If she plans to survive, she’s going to need them.

Just a word of caution. . . if you have not read Murder Note stop right now and go back. Read it. You will not be disappointed. This will lead you on a serious journey. The intensity, the mystery, the twist-n-turns, the pacing all lead to a read that will keep you wanting more, all the way to the end. I found that this read complimented and accentuated book one just perfectly. Lilah Love had a darkside and she was very capable of using it to her advantage. The suspense keeps you hanging on and the allure of it all make you want to not stop reading it. Again I would say that its not much on the romance but it sure packs a huge punch when it comes to the mystery, suspense, and crime fiction. This one loads it up and Lilah Love sells it.
Another amazingly dark and deep twisted intriguing story written by the most strangely acclaimed suspense written. murder notes I’d by far the most challenging story I’ve written in a long time.. a true nail biter…loved lilah and kane…. how your mind can take you to places you don’t want to be but know that you must go there to win…
*I won this book off of Netgalley for my honest opinion*
I do recommend reading book one before reading this book. It really helps you understand what is going on. Book two literally picks right up where book one ended.
I highly enjoyed this fast paced suspense book. This contains lots of female empowerment. This book does focus more on the relationship between Kane and Lilah. You find yourself really rooting for this couple. It does pull on the heart strings in this book.
The writing kept the reader intrigued and entertained. The way the second book left off could open room for another book. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys fast paced suspense novels. The romance aspect definitely is a secondary story line.
3.5 Stars
It is highly recommended that you read the first Lilah Love book… MURDER NOTES. Murder Girl is a continuation featuring all the characters from the first book. The beginning of Murder Girl gives a several-page synopsis of the first book, all the characters and how they all relate to each other.
Lilah Love is an FBI profiler who manages to inhabit killers’ minds. She calls it her dark side. She is called in to investigate brutal killings taking place in various parts of the country. Each killing is tied to a mysterious tattoo … a tatto she is only too familiar with.
The killer is leading her straight to her hometown … a small community filled with long buried secrets.
This is a well-written suspense, with unforgettable characters. Again, it is recommended that the reader start at the beginning in order to understand what’s happening in this book. Parts of the story seemed to drag a little, but would quickly pick up the action again.
Many thanks to the author / Montlake Romance / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
In the second book of the Lilah Love series, Lilah finds that she is relying on Kane more than she wants to. She is in contact with him personally and professionally. As her investigation continues, she is not sure who she can trust and is ready to go on her own…Kane seems to be the only one she believes she can count on to tell her the truth. As the book goes on so does the suspense! I can’t wait until book 3!
I received this as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review of my opinion.
This is part of a series. Murder Notes is the first book in the series and Murder Girl continues the story right where the first one ended. I love that Lisa Renee Jones starts this book with a short recap chapter that reminds the reader what happened in the first book but to get the full appreciation of the series I recommend starting with book one.
The storyline is one that pulled me in, kept me guessing while having me hope for a happy ending for Lilah. I was intrigued by Junior and what his/her tie is to Lilah. Is her family as dirty as they are being portrayed? There are so many questions that I need to be answered. Murder Girl ended and I still have questions, leaving me excited for Lilah Love #3.
I know there is so much history for Lilah and Kane but he is such a bad boy with his mobster past that I want them together. The author teases her reader with their attraction and then points out all the reasons they are so wrong for each other and that leaves us guessing at what is going to be Lilah’s ending. There are of course other male characters that would be more appropriate for Lilah Love but they seem so boring for her life. As you can tell I’m #TeamKane all the way.
Murder Girl is the perfect blend of intrigue, darkness, sex, and mystery. It is not tied up neatly with a bow. You will be left with questions that will hopefully be answered in the next book.
Murder Girl is the 2nd in the Lilla Love series by Lisa Renee Jones, and man does she deliver on the follow up to Murder Notes. This book is again like the first a difficult book to review without destroying plot points and giving away spoilers. This book is very suspenseful and dark, mixed with twists and turns you don’t see coming. We get a great follow up to book 1 and finally get some answers after we were left questioning so many things in book 1. Some answers are given, some we are left questioning, and now we have added even more to contemplate. While this book sticks mostly to the suspenseful side, there is a bit more romantic suspense added in from the first book. In the first book we didn’t get the typical LRJ book we are use too in the romance department. She has kicked it up a few notches in this book, however, I am really not sure that is a good thing. While I do enjoy where the story has taken a turn towards, I am very curious to see how the relationship between Lilah and Kane will play out. I am so excited we get more in book 3, and now just can’t wait for it!
I loved Murder Girl. There were so many twists and turns that my head is still spinning. I loved that some of the questions we were left with in book one were answered, and that now I have more questions that need answering, so I can’t wait for the third book. Thrilling, sexy, mysterious, twisted, these are words that stuck out in my mind after I finished reading. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book.
This adventure just keeps getting better with every new thrilling twist and exciting turn. In this book we are following the Awesomely talented Lilah as she stalks a killer that is also stalking her. The danger, mystery, drama and passion all make this a “I so can not put it down for a moment or I might miss something and regret it later” kinda read. Looking forward to getting more answers and unexpected questions in the next book…..
Lisa Renee Jones is making it personal. She does this to toy with me. I swear it’s true. She ends her books at the wrong spot. PERIOD. WRONG SPOT!!!!
Okay, so you argue the whole author point but really, as a reader, it’s not cool. Just because she’s this twisted ruler over the “imaginary world she creates” doesn’t make her special! Ummm, okay, so it does but (said in a super whiney voice) I need more Lilah now!!! [Foot stomp]
Do you hear that Ms. Jones?!?!?!?! (Said in a slightly snotty, 13 year old girl voice with matching head and neck emphasis)
Sigh, you want me to be an adult- whatever!
(Coughs a sound that suspiciously is similar to buttface)
[In the most poised voice, like dubbed over with a posh English accent]
I just finished Murder Girl by Ms. Lisa Renee Jones. It was positively delightful. There is an undercurrent of dark and bad things written through this well written novel. I must say though Murder Girl is book two of the Lilah Love series and must be read after Murder Notes. Once you have enjoyed being tempted by the dark side, teased and taunted by the “love”letters (tut tut, did you catch that little pun?), and are engrossed in the coincidences, you will need more.
[With a less posh accent and the regular voice of this crazed reader]
MORE!!! More Lilah! Free Lilah! We want more LOVE! #MoreLoveToGive
Okay, so the adult in me takes a backseat when I need more. This series, and honestly any I’ve read by this author, has got me by the proverbial short hairs and until I know what’s up, the grip only seems to tighten.
Lilah Love is a woman on a mission. She is determined and set in her ways. She rarely takes shit from anyone but is always dishing it out. She’s tough as nails, has bigger balls than most men, and isn’t upset by corpses. Clearly, she is a badass. She’s my kind of ride or die chick.
Her story is a very unique one. And it seems that it’s constantly being updated. Things aren’t always what they seem. People aren’t always who they pretend to be. And Lilah, well, Lilah has to wade through all the shit to find the real.
I can’t say it enough, I need more Lilah Love.
A good old fashioned mystery .. these are the things i love. A long with Lilah Love and I love Kane Mendez !!
So many twists and turns! Exprect the unexpected.
Expect there to be more questions than answers. And expect to be surprised!
Lilah is a great character and I can’t wait for more stories from her.. and i can’t wait to see where her and Kane’s story goes!!
MURDER GIRL is heartstopping, keep you on the edge and twisty turning jaw dropping epic!!!
Holy Cow!!!! Just hot as heck and riveting as hell! I still can’t even get a rational thought out!!! Another stellar 5 star you need in your life!
I’ll say one this is certain…Lisa Renee Jones is a master at mystery and suspense. Murder Girl was gripping from the start and beyond.
Following FBI profiler, Lilah Love, this story picks up where book 1, Murder Notes, left off. Lilah is back in her hometown searching for a serial killer and no one is free of suspicion; except the man she’s loved for years who’s well known as having ties to a cartel.
Together they follow the clues to track down the killer and try to fit the puzzle pieces that seem to be pointing to her and the secret she shares with Kane as well as the big bass behind it all.
From beginning to end this book had me at the edge of my seat and kept me guessing. So many potent suspects, so many unanswered questions. The entire story is an addictive guessing game.
I’m SO looking forward to MORE Lilah Love mysteries.
Captivating suspenseful and seductive.
This book was everything!
However, before you read Murder Girl you must read Murder Notes.
Book one for me was somewhat confusing but in Murder Girl the author tightened all the loose ends and even explained some things from book 1, helping me understand the story better.
That said this story unfolded beautifully!
The plot was exciting suspenseful and edgy. The writing was strong and easy to follow.
Lilah Love’s quest to discover the truth continues. She soon realizes that not only is she making discoveries about the murders but she’s discovering truths about herself and her family. She thinks she’s figured out the biggest mystery but she soon learns that behind every corner there’s a new clue as to “whodunnit.”
Everyone is a suspect and the old adage “keep your friends close but your enemies closer” takes a whole new meaning! Everyone isn’t what they seem and they lead double lives. When the stakes are so high who can you trust.
The biggest puzzle is who is Kane Mendez? Is he friend or foe! My heart hurt and what the suspicions are!
The new twists on this seductive murder mystery romance had me in the edge of my seat!
Secrets were revealed but more were posed.
The ending was jaw dropping kindle throwing moment!
I need more!!
This is the second book in the Lilah Love series. Holy moly it was so good. Full of suspense and twist and turns. It held me captive the entire time. Trying to figure out the assassin and all the mystery’s. I love Lilah so much!!!! She continues her search for her serial killer and who is leaving her notes. As her search deepens and more things being revealed it just pulls me In more and more. When she finally admits she needs Kane’s help and only he can she trust the two become a powerhouse. I really love Kane as well. Lilah and Kane just get each other and help each other more than they want to admit. I can’t wait till the next book!!! Book given to me by author on netgalley.
This is the second book in the Lilah Love series and it’s imperative that you first read book #1.
The first book sets the scene for this woven tale, introducing the key players (there are quite a few of them!), revealing some dark secrets but keeping us on the edge of our seats, waiting to discover more.
The second book promises to keep you perched where you were, devouring the twists and turns and finding yourself torn between right and wrong….and discovering the grey in between.
The characters are well developed and I know you’ll be just as hooked as I was. Yet again though, as this story draws to a close, you find it easier to draw a breath, your heartbeat will slow after the revelations, only to be shocked into another frantic tempo.
I’m in desperate need for book #3….I need justice, I need revenge and I need to smudge those grey areas, just a little more.

Murder Girl was my first experience reading Lisa Renee Jones. This was the second book in the series. What was unexpectedly cool was the beginning of the book had a cliff’s notes version of the first book as well as a list and description of characters. If you have not read the first book, she makes sure you are going in prepared. Of course, you wonder how complicated a book can be when you need notes and a character list. This was definitely an in-depth book with a huge list of players and if I had it to do again, I think I would have enjoyed this book more after reading the first one in the series. The cliff’s notes was super helpful, but it was a bit like a speed date and I didn’t develop a connection to the characters like I probably would have had I read the whole book. I still felt a little lost as this book is truly the second half of a story she began in the first one.
Moving on to Ms Lilah Love. She was one spunky go getter. Working for the FBI, she is trying to unravel a series of murders that seem to be connected by a tattoo. Such a simple concept, but this book was anything but simple. It was deeply plotted, with many twists, and sub-stories. This is not a relaxing beach read, but rather an intricately woven story that keeps your attention at all times because you have to be alert with so much going on. Have no fear, for there was romance afoot among the action, and there may or may not have even been a steamy bedroom scene, but you will have to read it to confirm those details.
Overall, this was an action packed, enjoyable read. The complexity of the story telling reminded me a bit of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If you enjoy elaborate story lines with plenty of turmoil and mystery, a snarky protagonist and a dangerous bad boy thrown in on the side, this book will definitely keep you entertained.
Murder Girl is the 2nd book in the series. Lisa did a great job of recapping Murder Notes, to get you back up to speed if it had been awhile since you had read that, which it was for me, so it was refreshing that I was able to pick right up and man she just kept it coming. She is in a totally new element of writing style compared to her normal genre, but I think she has found another great story line and she has everyone completely sucked in as to what might happen next! You get pulled in and just when you think you have it figured out what is going on, the tables turn a little and keeps you totally guessing! I can not wait to see what book 3 is going to unfold and I can only hope that Kane and Lilah get deeper involved!!!! Love this series!
This is Book #2 in the Lilah Love Series about an FBI profiler with a dark side. You must read Murder Notes (Book #1) in order to understand what is going on. There is a recap of Book #1 included in Book #2. It is a romantic suspense, dark, crime, thriller fiction story. Lisa Renee Jones is a master at writing this. She keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you want more with the intrigue, mystery, and action with a touch of romance.
Lilah Love is an FBI profiler. A string of murders brings Lilah home to the Hamptons. Kane Mendez is Lilah’s ex and also the son of a crime lord. They are from different sides of the law but both have a devastating secret that connects them. She needs Kane’s help in order to solve the murders. Will he be able to help her get the answers she is seeking or will she only have more questions? There are a host of other characters in this book that only add to the confusion as to who is behind the murders, and the things she discovers has her questioning everything and everyone around her. This will keep you guessing and wondering who did it.
The book was well written. There are a lot of heart-stopping twists, turns, lies, secrets, and betrayals with a hint of steamy sex. She leaves you anticipating what comes next on every page and the ending will blow your mind.
Exceptionally Thrilling! Superb, Story! Lisa Renee Jones sure knows how to capture her readers attention, in this highly, addictive, highly, suspenseful, and highly, dramatic, thriller. The story is intense, filled with danger, betrayal, murder, secrets, as well as romantic intrigue. A thrilling, roller coaster ride, that keeps you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath, as this story unfolds. The writing is fantastic, the character development superb, grabbing the reader and not letting you go, until long after you are finished reading. Don’t miss this exceptional story. I just can’t get enough of Lisa Renee Jones works. Highly recommend this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
