Laney: It all started with a blind date. For him, at least. Me? I didn’t even know I was on a date with the guy. Because I wasn’t. Long story. Right place, right time, unsuspecting new PR client and meddlesome matchmaking friends. Talk about an awkward first impression–with me being the awkward one. I regrouped though, gotta give me that. And now all I have to do this holiday season is not fall … not fall for the gruff, gritty, secret do-gooder with a surprisingly sweet side (buried a mile or so under a grinchy, ridiculously hot exterior). Yep, easy peasey…
Gary: Hell, of course the smart, sweet woman I thought was my blind date would turn out to be my new PR guru from New York. Just my luck. No big deal though. Spending the winter working with an impossibly cute woman on a project I’ve put my blood and sweat into doesn’t sound half bad. Yeah, I’m aware my friends think a sparks-flying romance is unfolding here, but come on now. We don’t even live in the same state. And let’s be real, the universe would have to be seriously drunk to pick my grumpy ass to be the hero of some holiday romcom…
Author’s Note: This brand new sweet & steamy standalone short is actually a crossover novella with cameos (aka meddling) by a few characters you may recognize from the Irresistible Curves series (Claiming Her Curves and Capturing Her Curves) and the Untouchable Curves series (Curvy Seduction), not to mention a quick run-in with the fabulous matriarch of the His to Claim series herself. So many worlds colliding, so much fun making it happen. You don’t have to have read any of the other books to read this standalone, but if you have read them, I hope you enjoy getting to catch up with them all as they meddle the heck out of Laney & Gary’s hot happily-ever-after.
Previously titled Hot Nights Winter Lights – same cute story, just with a fresh title/cover makeover

What an enjoyable story. Gary and Laney were good individually but were great together. They complimented each other and strengthened each other’s weaknesses. I was so very happy that several of my favorite characters from previous books were interwoven into this story especially aunt Dotty. She is the queen. Christa and Tessa work beautifully together and I hope there’re more stories in the works. I love both of their writing style. Until next time y’all happy reading.
A cute love story, this was a fun story with wonderful characters. I loved Lahey right from the start and Gary started off bland but grew on me. I enjoyed the meet-cute mix up that started it all, it was realistic and funny. The story had heat and it occurred naturally in the story. I just loved reading it and think you will too.
I enjoyed this book greatly. Laney and Gary’s story was very sweet and had some heat and humor. I found these characters to be exceedingly likable. This story reads easily and their is some emotional turmoil, drama and excitement to keep this interesting. This is a standalone novella, but if you have read other books from this author it is a special treat. Several characters reappear from other books. This gave you a look at what they were up to and some nice foreshadowing of future books to come. If you enjoy a shorter length read, that delivers plenty of feels and is pretty much guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and brighten your day, this book or any other by this author is, I feel a wonderful choice.
A delightful love story!
Laney has many interests in common with Gary, and an unmatchable love of life. Gary doesn’t give it up easily. He holds happiness at arms’ length before reassessing. Laney is perfect for him. The two of them make a splendid match. They are so very appealing to me. Interlacing people we’ve seen in other books is icing on the cake!. A heartwarming story – don’t miss it!
This is the first Christa Wick book that I’ve read and I loved it. I’m a sucker for romance books that make me laugh out loud, and this one did, several times. I’m looking forward to read the rest of her books.
Hot Nights, Winter Lights shows there is a softer side to Christa Wick. She’s repeatedly proved she can do intriguing and sexy, but Wick finds her sense of humor while working with Tessa Wood. In my opinion Wood is the ice cream to Wick’s hot fudge. They bring out the best in each other and Gary and Laney are proof. So catch up with a few old friends, make some new acquaintances and give your heart over to the magic that is this dynamic duo.
Terrific, transformative love story!
Remember Gary Mast from Owen and Gemma’s story? Well, this is his story, and it’s fantastic! Gary should have a closet full of capes; he’s that much of a real-life hero. He’s devoted to using the law to protect women and children from domestic abuse, and there’s nothing he won’t do to rescue anyone in need. But he believes his own rotten childhood has left him unable to properly care for his own family. And then we get the meddling friends.
Shane and Velda, together with Blake and Pippa, conspire to set up Gary and Laney, thus kickstarting a sweet and steamy romance that begins with one of the most memorable meet-cutes I’ve ever read. Laney can see past his defenses to recognize that the hurting inner child he keeps hidden is just as strong and honorable as the crusader he has grown up to be.
Gary is everything Laney needs, and together these two are just so perfect together. His devotion to Laney was beyond heartwarming. The HEA was sublime.
I loved the way the story ended with a look at the Montana-based Turk family, hinting at more stories to come in this extended fictional world. I highly recommend all of this author’s books. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Between hot and cold
Very good characters, who are simple, generous and who do not hesitate to put all their heart in their projects by any means whatsoever.
Laney is the assistant to the owner of an publicity company who sends her to Florida to complete a community project. She will have to work with Gary, a lawyer who essentially defends battered women to have custody of their child. He thinks he’s going to a blind date when she knows she has to meet him for their project. The misunderstanding was inevitable. The story is tender from the beginning to the end, sometimes hot, but it is Gary’s past that calls into question a possible relationship more than the distance that separates them or their attraction.

This was such a pleasure to read! Gary was being set up on a blind date and thinks that Laney is his date. Laney works in PR and was to meet him for a meeting. He was really enjoying himself until his real date showed up. The story that follows is cute and fun to read. I really enjoyed the cameo appearances from other characters in previous books. Especially the one Laney meets at the airport!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book!
Gary and Laney are both workaholics with emotional baggage. Their friends set them up and some sparks fly. She lives in NY; he lives in FL. It seems fated to fail, but never fear, love wins in the end. A good, tender story with very admirable characters. Christa and Tessa have written another winner. Very well worth reading!
I absolutely loved Laney and Gary’s story! They were perfect for each other, but it took a little bit of meddling from friends to get them together. The character cameos were worked seamlessly throughout the story. It made for a very entertaining read! I love all Christa’s books but I think this one is one of my favorites! If you like a fun, entertaining, sexy romance give Hot Nights Winter Lights a chance. You’ll love it too!
What an oh my read about Gary, the lawyer who advocates for victims of abuse and Laney the PR representative who meet when Laney is sent to Florida to do a PR event for her boss. Their first encounter is him thinking it’s a blind date and her thinking it’s a business meeting. The meeting ends to soon and leaves both of them thinking of the other and finally getting to know each other…more so Gary learning about her as he is closed off about his past…can she break down his walls.
A great short read that packs quite a punch and had me falling for these two, just as quickly as they fell for each other. I loved how easy and comfortable their interactions were and how Laney didn’t put herself down because of her curves. She may have been a bit conservative and shy, but she was strong and handled her value…LOVED IT. I loved Gary, his passion and selflessness to help others but also his vulnerability when it comes to his past. These two lit up the pages, the story flowed beautifully with some steam added in the mix and an ending with an epilogue…made it an amazing read.
