From New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans comes a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love.If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more … should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.
The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.
They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.

Million Dollar Marriage by Katy Evans tells the story of Nell, who has tremendous school debt and decides to go on a reality show called Million Dollar Marriage in order to pay off all of her school loans.
She meets Luke who is also in huge debt, with the bar his grandfather left him and caring for his grandmother who is in a nursing home. He had a rough few years when he was younger, living on the streets and using, but has cleaned up his act.
The two get paired on the show and that’s when the fun begins. In all honesty, I don’t normally watch reality television, but I was hooked and completely engrossed with the characters and the plot.
Although we met Luke in Million Dollar Devil, this book can be read as a stand-a-lone. Neither Nell nor Luke have anything in common, but the chemistry between the two is off the charts and you will have to read Million Dollar Marriage to see where the story takes us. I truly adored this book and I didn’t want it to end. I hope we will have the opportunity to re-visit these characters in a future Katy Evan’s book.
4.5 Stars
This book had me intrigued after reading the blurb and it did not disappoint. Katy Evans has a way of telling a story and keeping your interest. This was a fun fast paced read that I finished in one sitting.
Nell is awkward around others and has a hard time making friends. She is getting ready to graduate and has a mount of student loan debts. She decides to audition for a new reality show Million Dollar marriage in hopes to pay her loans.
Luke decides to audition in hopes to get chosen he has things he can do with that money. He doesn’t have a hard time making friends and turning every girls head. While waiting in he sees a girl and stop staring at her. He never dreamed they would both be picked and end up together.
These two couldn’t be more different but are going to have to work together to stay in the game. This book made me feel like I was watching a reality tv show. I was so intrigued and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
This is the second standalone book in this series and I liked it even better than the first book and I really enjoyed Million Dollar Devil. As I said in my review for the first book, I think this author’s writing is much improved from the Real series — well developed characters with depth, interesting plot and storyline and funny secondary characters that really add to the dimension of this book. I was hoping we would get Luke’s story and I’m so glad we did — I liked him from the start and Penelope/Nell was his perfect counterpart. I’m not a reality TV fan so I found their story to be quite intriguing and eye-opening to say the least! A really enjoyable, quick read — definitely recommend if you like contemporary romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
Book two of the Million Dollar Series is a unique and sexy story of Luke Cross and Penelope Carpenter.
A perfect opposites attract romance with a different spin on how the hero and heroine fall in love.
I was completely hooked from the first page, the characters, the plot and the romance, such a thrilling ride!
Loved this book!
Reading it felt like I was on this incredible journey with the contestants. The frustration and the challenges. The buildup before each obstacle. All of it was exhilarating to read! But I loved Luke’s commitment to his partner. I adored how they built each other up!
Outstanding writing as always! A must read.
If you read Million Dollar Devil then you remember meeting Luke, the owner of Tim’s Bar. Luke is struggling with the finances of his bar which he’s about to lose and Penelope “Nell/Penny” is drowning in student loans bur what happens when a reality show has a prize you can’t refuse? Luke and Penny had me laughing, smiling and cheering them on throughout this read, I couldn’t get enough of them! If you love The Bachelor and The Amazing Race, you’ll get a kick out of this storyline so grab your copy now!
Million Dollar Marriage is Book 2 of Katy Evans Million Dollar series. Even though this is Book 2, the characters from the first story play a very minor part here so it stands perfectly fine on its own.
Even though the premise was really quirky and very unusual, I enjoyed it. Amazing Race with a twist.
There was tons of steam, angst, drama and some good old fashioned competition. I loved watching Nell and Luke learn to trust each other and form a bond.
I’m curious to see what the author has in store for this series next. This one will be hard to beat!
This is my first Katy Evans ARC but not my first book. I got my ARC from NetGalley through the Montlake Publishing website.
I’ve read the Mine series and I also have some of her books in my TBR shelf.
I used to watch reality tv shows a couple of years back. It’s not that I’m not a fan anymore, it’s just I find some to be very OA and fake. And I’d rather read than watch tv anyway.
The main characters are relatable. I can relate to Penelope in a way because she’s introverted, guarded, knows when to be confident and she’s a bookworm. And where do I even start with Luke? He is sweet, caring, sentimental and honest—very swoon-worthy.
I’ve read a couple of stories with more or less similar storylines but this is unique in the sense that they needed to wed before starting the race. I enjoyed their journey. Their development from acquaintance to lovers was a wee bit frustrating because I felt like it took a wee bit longer to heat up but it definitely induced butterflies in my tummy.
It’s an easy read, it’s sweet and a page turner.
If you’re a reality tv junkie, or if you want something light to read over the weekend, this is the book to pick up next.
Katy Evans is another one of my most favorite authors. Ever since reading ”REAL” I have been a huge fan. She writes stories that I can’t help but devour. ”MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE” takes us on a fun and steamy adventure with two people who at first, seem to be so completely opposite that I have to admit, I had a hard time believing they could have real chemistry. Luke Cross is the filthy talking sexy bar owner who dropped out of high school at sixteen. Penelope Carpenter comes from an affluent family, has her Ph.D., and is lacking in interpersonal skills. They do have one thing in common—they’re each in serious financial debt. When a commercial announces an audition for a new reality show that promises a prize of a million dollars, both Luke and Penny are eager to sign up. No one knows what the show’s premise is but that prize is too enticing to pass up.
”MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE” ends up being a reality game show that is a cross between ”Married at First Sight” & “The Amazing Race”. The contestants must agree to marry the person they’re paired up with and then compete against eight other couples for two weeks full of crazy missions that challenge their endurance and their problem-solving skills. When the two weeks are up will Luke and Penny have found something more precious than the million-dollar jackpot or has it all been an act to win the prize?
Here are my overall ratings:
Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 4.5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 4.5
”MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE” releases on July 23rd.
When Penelope “Nell” Carpenter needs to find a way to pay off her student loans she never imagined getting married was the way to do it! To bad for her a reality tv wedding on “Million Dollar Marriage” just might be the answer she needs…or the cause of more trouble; Especially when Luke Cross is your match. Luke is one of Jimmy’s (from millionaire dollar devil) friend and the owner of Tim’s Bar. Sadly, the bar isn’t doing to good and Luke has to find away to get out of the red. He figures why not try out for a reality competition show where the prize money could help. What could go wrong? “I’m married. Married to the dirty yeti who can’t stop staring at me.” They couldn’t be more different for each other but sometimes that ends up being just what you might need! This was an adorable romantic comedy. I loved all the “tests” they went through together and Luke is totally swoon worthy! A fun and cute read. Told in dual POV
Oh how I loved this story. It was so different. The miscommunication, lust, friendship, angst, steam… this book has it all.
Nell is afraid to take a step towards adult hood. She is hiding behind being a perpetual student with degrees she hasn’t used and surmounting amount of debt.
Luke own the bar Tim’s and is in debt. This bar was left to him by his grandfather and he really wants to save it.
Nell and Luke are paired on a tv show – Million Dollar Marriage – and compete a la Amazing Race style, but as a married couple. At the beginning of the race they are polar opposites, have nothing in common and argue. But somehow they manage to stay in the game, every round. As the race progresses the more they learn about each other.
So what happens when the race is over? Will they stay married and win the big cash prize? Definitely one click to find out.
Luke and Nell are both strapped for cash. She has 50K in student loans, he has 50K in medical bills for his grandmother. When the opportunity presents itself in the form of a reality tv show, they both jump head first. What the didn’t expect was for the feelings to be real and the possibility of broken hearts. One not one for these kind of reality shows but I absolutely loved this book and I loved Bell and Luke.
It’s been a while since I’ve read Katy and man oh man have I missed it! Books that are steamy and catchy as hell to read are a Katy Evans staple! Loved this one and the characters! Super interesting storyline that I have NOT read before. Complete unique and original. I enjoyed it big time!

4 Star Review Million Dollar Marriage (Million Dollar #2) by Katy Evans
I was intrigued by the blurb for this book. Desperate to alleviate their crippling debts Penelope (Nell) Carpenter and Luke Cross
sign up for reality tv show Million Dollar Marriage. All they have to do is say “I Do” to a complete stranger, what could go wrong?
Complete opposites, they have nothing in common but if they want to win the money then they have to beat the other couples.
Nell and Luke were certainly on an unusual journey of self discovery almost like the participants on The Amazing Race.
There was some fun banter and chemistry between Nell and Luke; these two should not have worked and yet they do.
I had trouble connecting to the characters, particularly Nell who I found to be at times judgemental and condescending.
Million Dollar Marriage was well written, but is not my favourite from Katy Evans.
ARC received for an honest review
Married At First Sight meets The Amazing Race.
You do not need to have read the first book, Million Dollar Devil, to read Million Dollar Marriage – some characters do overlap, but the stories are stand along.
I enjoyed this story so much more than I did the first book. Yes, it was pretty predictable, however Luke made the story for me. Nell was – well, I gotta say I was not the biggest fan of Nell. For someone so smart, OMG she was such a dumba$$ and I wanted to scream at her to wake up to herself!
I am surprised Luke didn’t just leave her at one of their “pitstops” – I mean, the money couldn’t have been worth all of her annoyingness.
I did feel for her a little at the end of the story though, which surprised me.
I am not a fan of so called “reality TV” and this still has not endeared it to me at all – I know it is fiction, but we know all this stuff they do behind the scenes is all scripted and manipulated.
This was a fun romp through America with some laugh out loud moments, along with some sad and frustrating moments.
I’m in love!
I have to admit i didn’t read the blurb properly. I just saw it was the second book and it had Luke in and that was it but once i read the blurb just before i started i knew i was going to love this book.
I read a book a few years ago that was similar to this as in the whole reality tv thing and i absolutely loved it!
Luke and Penny was absolutely great! They say opposites attract and they certainly do! You wouldn’t expect these two people to be thrown together but when they do they try and make the best out of a hard situation!
I’m so so happy i read this book and i hope everyone else picks this book up too!
Wow! This book was exactly what I needed right now!
I fell totally in love with Luke and Penelope.
Personally I’m not a big fan of reality TV and never watch it, but reading this book I totally fell in love with it! It’s just different reading about it than watching.
The whole storyline about how Luke and Penelope met and went on the show “Million Dollar Marriage”, it’s just so freaking amazing! It’s funny, hot, sexy and even sometimes frustrating, but you’ll love it. Everything that Luke and Penelope go through in this book is just so much fun to read. The tension between those two was just over the top. And like I said – I loved the reality TV part. It’s definitely someting different and new for me to read something like this, but I loved it so much more because of that.
This will definitely not be my last book by Katy Evans!
What a fabulously wild ride it’s been. The story was truly one I enjoyed and loved very much. It’s been original, unique even, from the very beginning and I devoured it like a starving person. I laughed a lot because let me tell you some of those things that left Penelope’s mouth were just to burst out laughing.
Two people who couldn’t be more opposite fell in love during filming a reality show. It simply just should have been a journey to pay their debts while taking part on insane tasks the production put them on and win the main price of one million dollar.
It wasn’t something they’ve ever expected to happen but the path full of hurdles glued them together to stick through bad and good until…..
I don’t want to spoil anything for you 😉
Lets just find out for yourself. I loved every second of this brilliant book!
I loved Nell and Luke! They both decide to do a show involving a fake marriage for a million dollars. Luke is doing it to save his family bar and Nell needs to pay off her student loans. They are paired and tie the knot. The trick is trying not to fall In love with each other while frantically trying to win the game. Can they win each other’s heart and trust? Can something fake turn into something real? Such a great read! It will keep you on the edge of your seat! Move over Amazing Race, there is a new game in town! 5 stars
