This is a great read! I loved Julian and Morganas story so much. It is a twisted tale as you would expect from Natalie Bennett but as always it has enough love story to pull you through! I loved how they both faced things as head on as they could. A lot of time has passed since the first part of this couples story was told.
I love this twisted up family so much! I enjoy very much how we get to see the family from other stories in each one after. It is good to keep up and to see how much love the brothers and their families have for each other and how they are all connected with their dark little secrets.
Natalie Bennett is my first horror romance author to read in the full horror aspect and this story just proves why I fell in love with her work the first time.
“What we had was never conventional or ordinary. It was vile and twisted, but beautiful too.”
Malevolence by Natalie Bennett is book number four in the Dahlia Saga and a continuation of Malice, Julian and Morgana’s story. All the books in the Dahlia Saga ARE standalones but the story is sooo much better if you read them in order. I am a HUGE fan of Natalie Bennett A.K.A The Queen Of Darkness so ya’ll already know I snatch up whatever she releases. But Malevolence… OMFG, Morgana is BACK ya’ll!!! If you have NOT read Malice yet, DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW, it will contain spoilers.
If you are a Natalie Bennett fan then you already know what to expect, but if this is your first time checking out one of her releases PROCEED WITH CAUTION. If graphic descriptive gruesome scenes aren’t your thing, then this one probably isn’t for you.
Years ago when Julian Andreou’s first brought Morgana to Chateau Dahlia her fragile mind couldn’t handle the unconventional activities that were happening there. In a frantic state, she decided to kill herself and Julian. Leaving their newborn son Mason behind.
But Morgana’s plan failed.
Julian survived the accident alive while Morgana was killed in the fiery crash.
Or so we all thought…
“I always went to him, like a pigeon that returned to its pigeoneer no matter the distance or the weather.”
Now, MANY years later, Morgana has returned to Chateau Dahlia and to Julian. But she’s not the same Morgana as before. The accident has caused her to lose the majority of her memories but there are still a few things that she does remember, including Julian’s eyes.
Julian now has a second chance with the love of his life, his obsession. And he’s not about to make the same mistakes and allow her to get in her own head again. So he’s handling things much differently this time.
But so is Morgana. FINALLY, Morgana is able to admit that she craves the darkness just as much as Julian does whereas before she was afraid of what she felt.
“My gorgeous mess of a woman was still there, but so much stronger than she’d ever been before.”
Can Morgana’s fragile mind now handle the depraved activities of the Chateau Dahlia?
Can Julian and Morgana’s love most past her actions from the past?
Will history repeat it’s self?
You’ll have to read Malevolence to find out?
“Madness was the man I loved, and sanity was overrated.”
Gahhh I love this saga and this crazy family of psychos!
“As for my family, madness ran in our blood.”
“Reunited and it feels sooo gooodd!!!” I have literally been singing this ever since I saw that Natalie was releasing Malevolence and that it was going to be about Julian and Morgana being reunited! So I went back and re-read Malice and my heart broke all over again! I was soo beyond ready for Julian and Morgana’s reunion, and as usual, Natalie did NOT disappoint!
“No, because you’re a pain whore who loves every fucked-up thing that I do to you.”“I‑‑.”“You’re beautiful and you’ve got a beautifully chaotic brain,”
More secrets have been revealed and we are still left with even more questions (as always) as more of the story unfolds. As usual, Natalie leaves just enough hints throughout her stories that we know there is a whole lot more to come but you’d NEVER be able to guess as to where the story will go next.
I loved these two together even back in the day when they were totally chaotic and both were absolutely insane! I love them even more now that they are older, still crazy as shit but not as chaotic as they once were.
“You’re mine. Selfishly. Entirely. Undeniably. Mine. Every single version of you, even when you’re trying to kill me.” He slid my ring onto my finger. “And every piece of me is yours.”
Seeing Morgana with Mason *SIGH* I loved that in her mindset now she didn’t hold his “hobby” against him. Mason didn’t hold what she had done when he was a baby against her either. They just picked up like she had never left.
I know we were told about a few reasons why Dr. Nester did what he did BUT I still think there was a lot more to that story… And the thing with the sheriff! Holy crap, so I’m confused was he there in that room for ALLLL those years? Or did Julian finally just go and grab him up AFTER Morgana came back? I NEED answers!
“I was his filthy masochist, and he was my beautifully deviant sadist. We were a severely obscene couple, always indulging in sinister acts of malice and constantly making love amid depravity.”
That ending *SIGH* THIS is the ending that I had hoped for in Malice. BUT after reading both stories, I think it NEEDED to happen EXACTLY like this. Natalie Bennett knows what she’s doing. It may be a few years late but Morgana and Julian FINALLY have their happy ending, together.
My only negative was I wish the story was a bit longer but that’s just because I’m never ready to say goodbye to the crazy crew of the Chateau Dahlia!
“I’ll love you always,” he spoke softly into my ear. “I’ll love you more.”
I am REALLY hoping we are going to get Luca’s story because I feel like he is about to need a new wifey soon… But until then, I am BEYOND ready for Iniquity! Declan, Ethan, and Helena are my favorite couple from the Dahlia Saga and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next!
“Morgana and I were always meant to be together. Our love was story was morbid and bittersweet, but it was ours, and I wouldn’t give it up for anything or anyone.”
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
Yes! This book was exactly what I was looking for, for Julian. I love him alot. I loved this book. I am glad he got his happiness back! Must read series!
Malevolence(Dahlia Saga #4) by Natalie Bennett is a story I didn’t know I wanted and I was personally over the moon when I heard this book was being written. This is Julian and Morgana’s story after we all thought she was dead. To get the full effect of this story and the family you have to read Mercy, Bound, Released. Initially when I read that book I was shocked at how I loved such a dark, sick and twisted story. In Malevolence the shock that she was still alive was a real treat. To read not only about her and Julian and the rest of the family had me wanting to reread all the previous books with the other characters. The reconnection of Morgana and Julian’s fractured minds was quit the sick journey. I am so looking forward to the next book in this saga. I was hoping for a better ending for those 2 but hopefully the next book will give me more of them. 4 stars for me.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
She was a mother. She was a bride. Now she is merely a woman trapped within a shattered mind. With a body full of scars and a past forever gone, at Cheteau Dahlia carnage continues to unravel, and ghost rise from the dead. Sadist to masochist. Monster to monster. Alice and Malevolence collide one final time.
I have not read any of the other books in this series except for Depravity. Malevolence is a standalone. But, I am betting the entire series is really good. I need to go back and read the books that I not read. This is the story of Julian and Morgana. There are a lot of secrets that will come to life in this book. Some of the actions of the characters will shock you. This is a second chance for Julian and Morgana and it is a dark and gritty one that will have you reading this book without pausing for anything. I really enjoyed it. I do have a special love for dark depraved books and Natalie Bennett really knows how to write them.
“Our love story was morbid and bittersweet, but it was ours. ”
*sigh*
What a perfect ending to such a brutal beginning.
Before I read Malevolence I went back and re-read their love/ hate story from the beginning with Malice.
I read the two books back to back which IMO made the overall experience that much more…
Is it wrong that I felt all warm inside when Mason and her reconnected over his hobby?
Or the happiness I felt happy when she and Jules admitted that they still burned for one another?
That they both craved the darkness they found in their union?
“I was his filthy masochist and he was my beautifully deviant sadist” **pitter-patter goes my heart
Bennett did a wonderful job of bringing the pieces together for Julian and Morgana without making it seem too far fetched of a possibility.
I am a bit mad at the Doc and even though we were given some of his reasoning I think there is more to why he did it.
Also what the heck! I wasn’t aware of the larger role the nice sheriff (not) played in her decision to end their lives.
I’m curious if we will get more insight into the events that lead up to her decision ? One of the guilty is still alive and I am thinking she is about to be replaced.
I do wish this had been longer … I’m greedy like that.
Is it wrong that I find this family of serial killers kinda sweet?
As with the other books in this series the same warnings apply –
Very descriptive scenes of torture and violence – so if Crimson isn’t your scene I suggest you skip this series
I often wondered what happened to Julian after Morgana, and now I finally get his story, or his after story. I think Julian was or is my fav from this series. His presence was felt thru the pages, he was the alpha everyone other man aspired to be. Finally he gets his time after years of suffering without Morgana.

This is such a beautifully dark and twisted love story. Julian was filled with regret and grief never moving on from her she was his one and only for his dark soul. He thought she was gone never coming home but things happened truths come out and she was back. Only Morganna was different now stronger more sure of herself this time around she accepted and embraced the dark side that she couldnt before. I loved Morganna and Julian I’m happy they got the ending they deserved or guess u would say a new beginning. I Highly recommend this book 5!! As alwalys u blow me away with your books Natalie Bennett!!
I love Julian!!! He is my favorite character of Natalie’s!! I am so glad Morgan’s survived. I wished the doctor would have brought her back to her family sooner so she could watch Mason grow up. Her younger self could not handle what Julian does or wouldn’t handle it whereas her older self can. Thank you Natalie!!
