Four years ago, Mack Schwartz made a decision that would alter the course of his life. Little did he know that walking away from the man he loved was only the beginning of a downward spiral. Since then, he’s become nothing more than a puppet, his son Daniel at the helm, turning Mack’s life not only upside down but inside out. Against his better judgment, Jeff Endsley didn’t put up a fight when … when Mack walked away, although his absence left a gaping hole in Jeff’s life. Now that Daniel has convinced Mack to sell Moonshiners and leave Coyote Ridge behind, Jeff isn’t sitting back and letting him make the decisions anymore.

I love this book and totally fell in love with Mack. He owns the bar “Moonshiners” where everyone loves to hang out. You can always find a Walker or two in there. We all know how Travis Walker likes to put his nose in others’ business, especially if he “sniffs” that something is just not right. Against his wishes, but wanting to make his son happy, Mack decides to sell Moonshiners. No one else is happy about it and they won’t rest until they get to the bottom of “why now”. Of course we have a great love interest but it seems like there will be no HEA for these two. Or will they be together after all.
Mack is a wonderful story, with great characters who you just want to be friends with. Enjoy, I sure did.
I had been waiting a very long time to read Mack’s story, and it did not disappoint. OK, the only downside is that it could have been longer, because I was not ready for it to end when it did. Mack is a short and sweet read about a father’s unconditional love for his son, and how much of himself he is willing to sacrifice to make his son happy. Mack has given up the love of his life, Sheriff Jeff Endsley, Sawyer Walker’s wife, Kennedy’s father, and is now on the verge of giving up even more to please his son, Daniel. However, this is a Nicole Edwards’ book, so, of course, there was a huge twist, which you will not see coming. And of course, since Mack is the owner of Moonshiners, a place we have come to know and love since our very first Walker Brothers book, Kaleb, that means Travis Walker will have something to say about what is going on. As Travis says, “I only stick my nose in when it involves family, and Mack is family.”
Mack was absolutely a joyful read with witty dialogue, all of the steaminess you expect from a Nicole Edwards book, and of course, our favorite residents of Coyote Ridge. I can’t wait to read the next book in the Coyote Ridge series, All In, but, let me also say that I am hoping for a book on Rafe, Rex’s brother. Mack is yet another great read by Nicole Edwards.
Having visited Coyote Ridge a number of times in the past, you know the love shared by Mack and Jeff is not new.
However, the story of Mack and Jeff is captivating in a number of ways. It is one of sacrifice, heartbreak, deception and ultimately unconditional love.
In Mack’s bid to have a positive relationship with his son, he’s expected to jump through the ‘hoops’ that Daniel constructs.
It is a beautiful day indeed when Mack chooses the love of his life, even if the relationship with his son is at risk of becoming a casualty.
This is a story about making a stand, finding happiness and accepting love in which ever form it takes!
Mack is a wonderful addition to the Coyote Ridge ‘family’ of publications where love really is a celebration.
Another great read by a truly enjoyable author!
Short and sweet, that’s the best way to describe this book. Let’s add in scorching hot to make it a bit more accurate. I’ve been salivating for this story ever since reading the bits about Mack and Jeff in A Coyote Ridge Christmas. They are just so good together.
The story of how Mack and Jeff are being kept apart is heartbreaking. As a parent I can understand Mack’s need to make his child happy, but his son Daniel just goes to far and gets downright nasty. Of course, good ole Travis Walker cannot keep his nose out of other people’s business, especially when it’s someone he cares about. But what is Daniel’s reason for treating his father with so much disrespect and disdain?
I felt I knew where this story was going, and I did to a certain extent. But Daniel’s reasoning goes deeper than I expected. While I feel for Daniel and his twisted view of things, I still couldn’t fully forgive how he twisted Mack into knots and almost destroyed a beautiful couple for good.
This story is way shorter than I’m used to with this author, but she still managed to fit in all of the heat, love, and humor that I’m used to in her other books. Truth be told, I love everything this author writes.

Oh man if you have read any of the books that feature a Walker brother than you have most likely read about Moonshiners and Mack the bartender. I think for me Mack is kinda like Curtis Walker… Someone they all look to when we needed to talk or a place to escape. And of course there was that wee thing about him being gay and yep he did come out of the stockroom closet. Then we have the hot sheriff in Coyote Ridge who happens to be gay and didn’t hide the fact. He and Mack happened to visit the little resort outside of town together and of course , small town everyone knows all!. No more so than Mack son who we call know has been a pain in this couple’s rear for years. Well they are no longer a couple but we know that from past books. Yes this book is a continuation of sorts from all the books leading up to it but it is its own book. Let me just say this, If you have never read a single book by author Nicole Edwards you are doing yourself wrong. This author can not only give us books we can escape into for hours at a time but she gives us well written narratives that pertain to things going on around us today. Mack and Jeff’s characters are not young but closer to my age which I like and are facing things that so many face day in and out. She gives us wonderful MM stories but also loving families and communities too. This is one of the reasons that I not only read her books once but read and re-read them many times . I am not reading “Curtis” again for the third time. Nicole Edwards’ books just do not get old only better with each reading. I read books to help with my brain after multi seizures & strokes and I write reviews on all I read as a way to thank the authors as a gift of their words.
5 Star review of Mack (Walker of Coyote Ridge #7) by Nicole Edwards
As with many books I have read by Nicole Edwards, Mack was hot and the scenes absolutely sizzled.
Anything to do with Coyote Ridge and by extension the Walker family and their friends, I will happily read and it was great to see a few cameo appearances from my favourite family. I love that no matter how distant a Walker relationship is, they will dive in a support one another and their friends.
Mack Schwartz walked away from true love with Jeff Endsley four years ago and knows it was the biggest mistake of his life.
I have been intrigued with Mack since he was introduced in the series. Mack was an emotional roller coaster of a read as Mack struggled to come to terms with his past and the future that he appears to have on front of him. This book had drama, angst, romance, humour, love and for me ticked all the boxes.
I really loved Mack and the man who finally got him, Jeff. There was just something about these two together that made me melt, although at times my heart just about broke for Mack and Jeff
I was so frustrated by the behaviour of Mack’s son Daniel, I really wanted to smack some sense in to him and tell him to grow up. Especially since he has convinced to sell his bar Moonshiners and leave Coyote Ridge.
This is a story that will suck you in and get to you in a way that only a Nicole Edwards book can do and in my humble opinion she is one of the best MM authors around.
I was so ready for Mac’s story, he has been in the background of so many books in this series. Greatest bar tender to the home of the Walkers’ family. Same for Jeff Endsley, The openly gay sheriff of Coyote Ridge. This is a story of unconditional love, family, and friends that back you up whether you want it or not. But all Walker fans know Travis Walker. Mac would do anything for his grown son to make up for what he felt was making his son’s life hard. But did that go so far as to sell his house, his bar, and leave the love of his life? Not if Jeff could help it. This book is amazing and follows the fight for real love, including that of friends and family. Loved the happily ever after, and of course the appearance of the entire Walker crew.
Take a quick trip back into the world of The Walkers of Coyote Ridge! This town is filled with people who care, look out for and support one another and when one of their own is struggling the people will do what is necessary to protect their own.
We have meet Mack in some of the previous books in the series. He is the owner and bartender at Moonshiners and he is one of those characters that you knew had a complicated back story that was waiting for the right time to come out.
Nicole Edwards knows how to write MM romance and watching Mack and Jeff finally battle their way back to the love Mack denied them years early was such a beautiful story!
