Don’t think this story is my cup of tea.
This story shows that no matter what age you might be, you’re never too old to find love.
However, as awesome as the synopsis seemed, I just couldn’t connect with the story. First Annie (Carolyn’s daughter) I’m assuming is suppose to be 20s maybe in her 30s but acted like she was a teenager when it came to finding out her mother may have a man in her life.
There’s moments in the book that elude to previous books, which I’m to assume are about Mac and Annie?
By the time I got to the end of the book I wasn’t as invested and was kind of glad to be done with the book. Once Carolyn and Arthur started their intimate relationship I got tired of reading the same thing over and over again. Every time they were intimate it was never ending paragraphs about sagging body parts and not being young.
Sweet story about second chances later in life. Humourous and sweet love story. About how healing old hurts and getting past insecurities. Nice to see older people’s perspective. After hard life experiences it can be difficult to open up to love again. Not my story but very beautiful to think it is possible for some.
It is a cute read about older people who didn’t find love the first time around. Lots of things got in their way in the years to follow and neither found that special one. There is a strong attraction from the start, they talk easy with each other and have fun. The story moves pretty fast through a short period of time.
The talk about menopause and the affects it has was a big torn off for me. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it has been touched on but it was throughout the last half of the book. There is more filler than I like with parts I thought just wasn’t needed. For a trip out and back I am not sure why they had so much luggage. Annie just seems much younger than her years, there is one thing being noisy but totally another when you act like a teen would to find out if your mother is doing the wild thing. She has a great relationship with her why not just have an adult talk with her. There is way too much talk about yours + mine, it would make a great ad and would be totally loved. For me the author just didn’t push my buttons.
With that said here is what I did like about the book. There are some really funny parts that had me chuckling and even a time or two laughing out loud. The pharmacy was totally a hot funny mess that I loved. The bathroom encounter the first night they stayed together was just right I totally loved it. The characters are very down to earth and likable.
There is so much about this story that is so good, the plot is wonderful but the author just doesn’t follow through with enough to keep it interesting going over things that really aren’t important or talking too much about it. There are some very good parts that you are going to love. I thought it was worth my time. This is just my thoughts so please do not let it stop you from giving this author a try. It just didn’t work for me.
