Nicky James doesn’t disappoint!! I devoured Lost in a Moment! Her characters are always so unique and relatable. You root for them from page one until the very end! This book is steamy, emotional, and unique! Definitely recommend this book! Five Tick-Tock Stars!
I just wanted to keep reading on to see what was going to happen next. Grayson has a freak accident and loses his leg from the knee down. He moves in with his best friend since childhood (and who he’s loved forever) Beckett.
We see how they fight with Grayson’s ptsd from the accident, learn how to deal with the flashbacks and fear of time he has. Living together in such a small space, things cross over from friends to lovers and the begin to explore this just as Grayson’s ptsd and fears hit an all time high.
I enjoyed the quirky shop Beckett has, Ringo the cat, the fish and bird too!
Loved how they handled all of the things going in In Grayson’s life as well as their blossoming friends to lovers relationship.
Definitely recommend reading this and the rest of the series!
I read this fantastic story very quickly – which is kinda funny when you consider the topic. I just wanted to hug these guys so completely and loved the journey the undertook to find each other and themselves.
Oh wow I loved this book! Best of the series yet. In the previous books, the characters have been living with their phobias for some time. This was unique in that we experienced the event and watched as the phobia unfolded page to page. It made Grayson so much more relatable and easier to understand how a time phobia could even be a thing.
Grayson and Beck had good chemistry and I loved Beck’s quirks. I love the friends to lovers trope and Nicky did it really well.
What an amazing 4th installment in the Trials Of Fear Series.
I love this series as it confronts phobias that affect people’s lives.
Grayson and Beckett have been life long friends and after an accident Grayson needs his mate Beckett more than ever.
I highly recommend this book and series.
Lost in a Moment is the fifth installment in Mrs. James’s Trials of Fear series, but it’s titled as book 4 as Fearless was written as a companion book to the series.
Nicky James is without a doubt my favourite author. Her writing is beautiful and her storytelling is amazing. She writes about topics that are near and dear to her heart with the hopes of enlightening her readers about mental health.
Throughout her Trials of Fear series, she introduces us to some not-so-known phobias.
This book had me at the edge of my seat from the very beginning as we watch Grayson battle with Chronophobia (a fear of time or passage of time).
As with all of Mrs. James’s books, she takes us on a rollercoaster ride with our emotions and when I pick up one of her books to read I know that I’m in for the ride of my life. Lost in a Moment did not disappoint!
Lost in a Moment ticks a few boxes for me.
Best friends to lovers (tick) and GFY (big tick).
If you’re following her Trials of Fear series, or if you want a MM romance with a lot of heart and story that wrings the emotion out of you, then Lost in a Moment is definitely the book for you.
Note: All the books in Trials of Fear are standalone, so you can one-click with confidence if you haven’t read previous books.
I loved this book. I love this series. Every single story is so unique and each character has such an amazing story. I have loved all of the books and can’t wait for another!!!
This is by far my favorite of the series.
I’m a sucker for the friends to lovers trope. Take best friends to lovers, and I’m yours. Like always, Nicky creates such a unique plot that really separates her books. This follows Grayson, a man who is afraid of the passing of time. At first, I was curious to see what this actually meant and how Nicky was going to show it. But the way his phobia develops and form was really interesting to see.
Grayson and Beckett were adorable. Grayson has been harboring feelings for Grayson for a while. When Grayson moves in with Beckett after his accident, he finds his feeling deepening even more. Beckett has always considered himself straight. But when Grayson moves in, he starts to see him in a new way. I thought their relationship developed really naturally. I also respected the fact that even though they were in love, it did not magically cure Grayson’s phobias.
This is one of my favorites series right now. Each book is so unique! The next book will be based on a phobia of food and I can’t wait to read it!
4.5 stars
Heat Level: 3.5
I have no words! Very powerful writing; book hangover ensued!
This is the first book of Nicky’s I’ve read and it was powerful! How she gets into the mind of Chronophobia (a persistent, abnormal and unwarranted the fear of time or the passing of time) is incredible. I could feel Gray’s fear and anxiety come off the page. Throughout the whole journey of Gray’s recovery from a freak accident, his development of PTSD, anxiety, and chronophobia was so detailed I felt like I was suffering right alongside him. Nicky’s writing style while detailed is injected with raw emotion in each word. I look forward to reading more of Nicky’s work and definitely the rest of this series once I’ve recovered!
I enjoyed the way Nicky approached Beck’s pansexual/bisexual discovery. This felt more real than other realizations I’ve read and I enjoyed her refreshing take on the friends to lovers/gay for you trope.
Grayson and Beckett have stolen my heart and I enjoyed their road to love, healing, and support. Highly recommended read!!

I adore this series and have from Book 1. That said this book was, for me, much harder to read as, in trying to describe what Gray was going through – the tone was so very oppressive. Gray’s feeling of being hemmed in and losing time was terrifying to read and process and my heart just broke for him. Add in Beck navigating his new feelings and well- you had a book that wasn’t uplifting or uber-romantic. What you had was gritty and hard and well fought for that happy ending. Their story was well worth the read – and I’m eagerly awaiting Book 5!
