I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the prequel to The Lost Archangels series and frankly as it’s a new author to me and is about Angels I was very excited to read it. It states that it’s a paranormal romance story but I have to state it certainly didn’t feel that way.
Essentially this is a short story charting an attempt by Lucifer to kill his brothers but in such a way that any fallout will not rain down on him. The Archangels have a Watcher, Jude and he is there to protect them which felt odd as I’d imagined Archangels to be all powerful and really top of the food chain. Yet the Archangels here are predominantly spoiled and selfish. I honestly found it difficult to connect with any of them really and if blunt I think I actually preferred Lucifer ! Jude dominates this book and he’s desperate to fulfil his duties but oddly had ulterior motives because as much as he wished to serve he did come over as being extremely jealous because he wasn’t an Archangel himself. This ends in such a way that I can easily imagine how this series could progress and perhaps redeem these characters who are lost in time. Sadly I do not think that I will continue as I do prefer stories with characters that I like or at least can empathise with.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
