Never again would I allow my heart to become the plaything of someone else. Never again would I let a man (or men) come between me and my goals. Never again would I love without feeling the fullness of that love in return. Not until I knew it was real. And if that took me a lifetime to find, so be it. Those were my vows, and after all that had happened with Connor and Weston, I was determined to … Weston, I was determined to keep them. To protect my heart.
And then he came home, and my vows became his promises.
He held my heart in his hands with reverence and care.
He helped me find my soul’s greatest purpose in life.
He loved me with a love so pure and vibrant, I knew I’d never feel anything like it in a hundred lifetimes.
It was real.
Until it wasn’t.
Until it all came crashing down when I discovered the deep love I thought I’d found was nestled in a web of lies—so soft and silken I hadn’t noticed it was there.
Until it was too late.

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts is the emotional, heart-wrenching conclusion to the Beautiful Hearts Duet by bestselling author, Emma Scott, and is inspired by the classic tale, Cyrano de Bergerac. (Roxanne) THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL LOVE TRIANGLE #confusedhearts #notamenage
THIS BOOK IS NOT A STANDALONE. It should not be read without first reading Bring Down the Stars
more
5 stars is not enough to rate this book because Emma Scott left me without words after reading this duet. I can easily see the duet as a major Hollywood movie.
After reading Bring Down The Stars, I didn’t know what could happen, but my heart always cheered for this end.
There’s so much love in this story. It is so, so beautiful!
The poetry presented in it, warms my heart, as well as warms all the beautiful hearts beating around the world that read it, I am so sure of that!
There’s not one thing I would wish it was different than what was written. Hurting and with tears in my eyes I devoured it because it just sucked me in!
I can’t find more words… I wish I could erase both books from my memory and read it all again for the first time!
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott is the second book in her Beautiful Hearts Duet. Long Life the Beautiful Hearts is not a standalone. You must read the previous book, Bring Down the Stars, first.
The story picks up, where it was left off in Bring Down the Stars.
Connor and Wes are away on deployment and Autumn is at college and works at the bakery. She’s eaten by guild about her encounter with Wes. But when tragedy strikes, nothing is important anymore, only surviving. And all three characters are survivors, their lives were changed irrevocable in the blink of an eye. Now they have to build a new life for themselves, a difficult, hard and long task. And to top it off, the secrets and lies still threaten to destroy them.
After reading book one, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next installment and what can I say this book gutted me, put me through the wringer, broke me into pieces and then put me back together.
Long Life the Beautiful Hearts is a realistic, poetic, simply beautiful story, masterfully written and told. I connected very easily with the characters and their story. My heart was bleeding for them. The book is raw and gritty and heartwrenchingly. I highly recommend Long Life the Beautiful Hearts and give 5+ stars.
LONG LIVE THE BEAUTIFUL HEARTS is the second book in Emma Scott’s Beautiful Hearts duet. I’ll admit that I had no idea where the story would go after the dramatic cliffhanger in the previous book and I was eager to continue this story.
This book is as moving as BRING DOWN THE STARS but Emma Scott decided to push s different set of my emotional buttons because clearly it wasn’t enough the first time around. I found much of the tension between Autumn, Weston and Connor had dissipated. The now focus turns inward as each of them are trying to come to terms with traumatic events in their lives. For Wes and Connor, it’s learning to live after seeing and experiencing the ravages of war. For Autumn, it’s about building a new foundation and finding purpose in her life.
It was definitely a rollercoaster of a journey and while I sympathised and empathised with the main characters, I still felt anger for some of their actions as well as anger for some of the secondary characters. Frankly, they were more forgiving than I would have been.
The story is well paced and beautifully written. The poetry is simultaneously uplifting and heartbreaking. Emma Scott certainly has a way with words. I highly recommend this duet.
I read the book in one day, and closed it at 3.30 a.m.
It was impossible to put it down.
After a few days, I’m still struggling to find the words.
But how can I do justice to this story?
It’s impossible.
I’m a huge fan of Emma Scott’s books, but this book, this Duet, ladies…
It’s another Emma Scott’s masterpiece, but a different one too.
The author gave us so much more than a heartbreaking story about love and friendship… She gave us a HUGE part of herself.
And I’ll always be especially grateful to her for that.
Life is not always fair.
It can get messy.
It can get ugly, devastating
And knowing the Duet was written Before and After makes it absolutely unique and even more powerful.
I totally saw and felt so many pieces of Emma Scott in those pages.
Sometimes it was really hard to read, sometimes it was sweet, but in the end, it was like a healing process.
I won’t spoil the story, I’ll just say the forest was very dark, there were a lot of branches that torn my heart, but the path was worth it. All of it.
Thank you, Emma Scott, you found the strength while you were crossing your own ugly forest.
I hope this community, in some way, pushed you a little towards the daylight each day.
I hope it gave you some peace and healing.
A little Angel guided you all the way through this story, and knowing the part she played in the whole process makes this Duet even more special: a miracle.
Readers: you need to read this Duet. For so many reasons.
Another Must Read from Emma Scott, but a very, very special one.

Ever since the emotional journey that Bring Down the Stars took me on I have been on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the follow up, especially after that shock-worthy cliffhanger that left my heart deep in the pit of my stomach. Emma Scott sure knows how to captivate her readers hearts and tug on every single one of their heartstrings. Trust me I had firsthand experience with that so many times throughout her Beautiful Hearts duet!
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts was the highly anticipated conclusion to Autumn, Weston and Connor’s complicated love story. When I picked up this story I had no clue what to expect, but I knew that I was in for a ton of twists and turns for sure. There was so much to love about this story and I want to tell you all every last detail, but trust me when I tell you all that you definitely don’t want any spoilers going in.

~5 +++++ STARS~
Top Read of 2018
A Top 10 in All-Time Reads
I fell in love with Emma Scott, along with the story, and the characters she created in Book 1 of this duet, Bring Down the Stars. I was heartbroken and unsure of what Book 2 would hold for me after finishing the previous book. Emma Scott completely blew my expectations out of the water.
Hands down, this is my favorite book of 2018 and a top 10 in my all-time favorite reads. This is one of those reviews that I hope I can convey my thoughts so that other readers can see what a phenomenal book this truly is. What makes it even harder is that I can’t write too much about it because I can’t spoil anything. The characters and the story captured not only my mind but my heart and soul. It can be incredibly difficult to read at times, really hard, my heart broke at times. However, in all the pain is hope, love, and joy! A character in the book relays that in the story he tell of the “Once Born and the Twice Born.” He says about the Twice Born:
“The man who walks into the dark forest of his life and suffers. Sometimes unimaginably. The way back is forever closed to him, but the Twice Born man walk forward. The path becomes more twisted, the hardships seemingly impossible to overcome. But he keeps going until one day, the shadows lift. The branches cease to scratch at his skin and they part for him. He’ll regard the scars with pride as he emerges from the forest reborn. Stronger for what he has endured. Wiser. Transformed. And grateful for the lessons he learned.”
For me, that passage illustrates exactly what this book is about!!! Each character I met from the first book will be transformed by the end of the second book, and it’s difficult, sad, yet somehow, beautiful.
Emma Scott is one of those very rare writers whose words can transform her readers. Her words are magical and find a way into your heart. That kind of talent is hard to find. This duet, the characters, and Emma Scott’s words will stay with me for a lifetime!!!!!
What a gift we have been given with this book! You do need to know that it *must* be read after Bring Down the Stars, and is what I believe to be the perfect conclusion to The Beautiful Hearts Duet. It took me less than 24 hours to absolutely devour Long Live the Beautiful Hearts, and it was all I hoped it would be- as always, Emma Scott’s books are in a class of their own for me. Yes, she’s on my one-click list, but her stories surpass most everything else I read. Back in elementary school, we had DEAR time (Drop Everything and Read) and that’s precisely what I do when Emma has a new book out. I’m off for a second read, because I’m sure that in my haste to finish the journey she took the characters on, I’m sure I missed some details that are worth spending more time on. I know this review is deliberately vague, but it’s important that the story is read without spoilers- it makes it what it was meant to be. A must read!
My heart is still trying to catch up with how beautiful Long Live the Beautiful Hearts was. This was one epic conclusion that will leave you complete and with a happy heart in the end.
Wes, Connor and Autumn were all entangled one way or another. But this book ended exactly how it should have ended. I was #TeamWes since book one and I did not change how I felt when I finished reading Long Live the Beautiful Hearts.
All characters were magnificent in this book and things happened the way they did because that’s how it was supposed to happen.
But my heart was always with Wes. He was just a poet and loved to write his feelings on paper and pass them on to the one he loved. After his combat tour in Syria, things definitely changed, and even though his brooding ways were still the same, I loved how he evolved and how he changed throughout this book. He became a completely different person and all with the help of Autumn.
AN EPIC DUET that is definitely going on my BEST of 2018!
I had finished LLTBH and words were hanging down like it wont go away. Emma Scott had brought the story into another dimension. True love wasnt always easy or harder as it seemed.
Weston , Autumn and Cornor relationship were again being put as the toughest challenge.. My thought was OMG will they be able to survive ? Im so scared to find out! The highlight of pain, emotional.. LLTBH presented the most basic raw feelings, the fight between whats right or wrong.. what choice I should made? Selfish? Or taking the high road to conquer the darkness??
LLTBH was a romance with many beautiful perks.. My adoration for the love poems were beyond the roof.. The letters which have started everything..
The book was a masterpiece.. A gripping heart stories about young love, their struggles, friendships, trust, being loved, hurt, shame..
Every chapters made me thought of whats next? Each words were strong, brutal and my heart just cant take it fast enough. LLTBH was a heavy read subject.. It will teared you apart to pieces… molded like new but its not gonna be the same.. the better of YOU version..
I am still holding my chest hours after finishing Long Live the Beautiful Hearts. Emma Scott blew my heart with this book. Thank goodness it picked up right where Bring Down the Stars ended because I had to know what happened.
Everything was hanging in the balance for Connor and Autumn and Weston. It didn’t take long for Autumn’s already fragile heart to take even more of a beating. But she would not be deterred. She hunkered down and focused on her work. Her mission. Herself. When she got some news, things changed. She knew she had to make an effort to start to heal the broken pieces of her relationship with Weston.
Cue the achingly sweet slow burn. I loved that Autumn saw Weston. His hurt. His pain. His frustration. His bravery. His acceptance of his situation. His determination to not let it define him. His passion reignited. His healing. With that came the rebuilding their friendship. And watching it transform into that thing they had been denying for so long turned my insides to mush. But there was that secret that Wes and Connor were keeping and when it came to light, all the ground that had been built up came crashing down.
I didn’t know how much more I could take. How much more Autumn could take. But she is nothing if not strong. She got her answer to her call for truth from the most unlikely of places. It wasn’t an easy journey for Autumn. It was hard and painful. Full of half truths and deception. But also full of friendship and so much love. Emma Scott bled her soul into this duet, this book. Long Live the Beautiful Hearts blew my heart and will be there for ages to come.
To me, this book–this duet–was poetry in motion. It was like a melody. It literally was poetic, but it was much more. It brought me up and then crashed down. There were heart stopping moments that took my breath. Love can mean so many things: sacrifice, pain, heroism, passion, loyalty…all for another person, or thing. It gives the hope that there can be beauty from pain, and that’s all we can hope for. It was a moving story and possibly could be one of my all-time favorites.
Oh, good Lord… I’m not sure how I can even put my thoughts and feelings to paper. I finished this book three days ago and I’ve thought on it. This is a story that breathes air into you. You feel the pulse of Emma Scott’s heart… it shot strait to mine. I’m not sure I’ve ever, like E.V.E.R. been more impressed with a person’s writing… with the way Ms. Scott told this story. She put my heart through an emotional wringer… I felt everything! The saying “all the feels” have never meant more to me than saying it in relation with this book.
Really, I don’t feel able to say more. Autumn, Connor, and Weston share a story that I hope everyone is reading. I hope you read it knowing how the author’s world was shaken to the core and how she was able to preserver and she wrote a duet, a novel, unlike anything I have ever read before. Again, I’ve never been more impressed or more moved!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott
5++++ Stars

“Long live the twice born hearts
Like mine.
It beats only for you
My love.”
“The love I have to give isn’t my weakness but my strength.”
It’s not very often that you read a book and feel you just went through a life changing event. It’s not often that the book leaves you speechless because of its beauty, its heartbreak, its raw emotions that send your heart into a tizzy. And it’s not often that your heart can explode into a million pieces but then be put back together chapter by brilliant chapter. But this is Emma Scott. And this is Long Live the Beautiful Hearts. This is another masterpiece by an author who pours her heart and soul into her words even when her own heart is reeling with real life loss. The sorrow, the joy, the frailty of life and dreams, and finding that there is love and happiness on the other side. Gorgeous writing, stunning poetry, main characters who were flawed, broken but heartfelt and real, secondary characters who were so very loveable, poignant, and had so much depth and wisdom in their words. My heart and emotions went on this amazing journey and I will forever be changed.
“If there is love, there is hope for forgiveness.”
At the root of this story is the love of friendship, the importance of forgiveness, and living your life to the fullest because life is a true gift. And Emma Scott’s words are a true gift. This duet has touched my soul. I am in awe of her. This book gets all the love and praise I can offer. It is brilliant and gorgeous. The poetry alone will leave you breathless. Thank you Emma Scott for the beauty that is Long Live the Beautiful Hearts. The Beautiful Hearts duet is my favorite read of the year. It is not to be missed. Sheer brilliance. All the stars and all the love for this exquisite book.
“Long live the beautiful hearts
Like yours
That beat with infinite depth”
Emotional, powerful and Heart achingly beautiful is how I would describe this book.
I don’t think there’s a book from Emma that isn’t poetry. She’s has this unique way of writing and the story she paints is always beautiful, vivid and emotional and It poured out of the pages.
Connor, Wes an Autumn will have your emotions from the very beginning and all the way till the end.
Just when you think you know the path the characters are going to take Emma Scott goes in a completely different direction to make this story perfect! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
The end of the story of Weston, Connor and Autumn. The story picks up where the first book ended but there are so many twist and turns that make you want to continue to read. Just when Autumn thinks she cannot give her heart to anyone falls deeper. I am not going to say anymore as you have to read this duet to truly feel all the emotions which in the end leads to love. This is one of my favorite duets of 2018.
I am in awe of Emma’s writing. The poetry, the emotion, the characters, the words you say vs the words you don’t have to say, the honesty and realness of her words. The love and friendships that are just so right and needed.
I can’t write a review that matches up to it. This duet, is everything and more. It’s more then just a story. It’s personal, and will stay with you for a really long time. Each sentence has meaning, like the kind that you have to re read because it’s perfect and so much more. You become apart of their world and feel everything right along with them! So much love, hope, family, and more!!!
Read this duet. Just read it! Go in blind and read it to experience it for yourself. <3 <3
6+ HANDS DOWN, THIS IS MY TOP READ OF 2018 STARS!!!
Typically, when Emma Scott releases a book, I take stock of my supplies of wine, tissues and chocolate (in that order) With Long Live the Beautiful Hearts I didn’t have NEARLY enough!!! I should have known tho, after reading Bring Down the Stars, that she would DECIMATE me with this POWERFUL, SOUL-CRUSHING, HEART-SEARINGLY PERFECT conclusion to the Beautiful Hearts duet!!!
There is only one thing I can say about this book that won’t have any spoilers in it…..THIS BOOK IS NOT ONLY MY TOP READ OF 2018, THE BEAUTIFUL HEARTS DUET IS RIGHT AT THE TOP OF MY ALL-TIME TOP READS….EVER!!! *mic drop*
I approached this book with trepidation, after the dramatic sneak peak at the ending of book one (who can resist those) I was both desperate to begin and nowhere near ready for it to be over.
What I loved most about book one was the strength of the friendship bonds between Connor, Weston and Autumn, and it was devastating to see these ripped apart through grief and guilt in this story. The aftermath of the events in Syria are far reaching and all are touched and changed by them.
This story is about redemption, about deciding who you really want to be, and what you really need out of life and staying true to that. Characters develop from the Before to the After and you will love them just as much, if not more, because it is in the After that you see their true strength of character.
I’m going to stop there because I don’t want to give any spoilers but be warned, as with any Emma Scott novel you WILL need tissues.
This book is amazing! I almost want to just stop right there and be done with my review. Picking up where Bring Down the Stars left off, the emotions keep on churning. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I will say that all of your questions will be answered, you will cry, you will laugh, and when you’re done all you will want to do is send Emma Scott a heartfelt thank you for such an amazing story.
