She’s the only sister in a family of alpha males. Loved, treasured, and sheltered by her brothers, Kat McClain is working to heal the pain of a failed marriage to a man she loved from her teenage years and move on with her life, but she’s a woman, she has needs, and she is understandably lonely.Tommy Kirby has protected her brother since he was barely a man and has been a silent staple in the … in the McClain family for just as long. He loves his job and his life, is loyal to his employer, but more than anything, he wants a family of his own.
Perhaps these two are exactly what the other desires.
*** This is a novella that takes place during the same time as Let Me Show You, book 3 of the McClain Brothers series and is best read after reading that book. ***

Bodyguard Romance!
Kathryn, the only McClain sister, is trying to move on from the end of her marriage by relocating and working with her baby brother and that puts her in daily contact with the extremely appealing Tommy, bodyguard to two of her brothers and now her.
I love Kat as much as I love her brothers; she’s strong and willing to stand up for herself but she’s also so loving and caring (her and Little Leland are precious together) and, just like her brothers, knows what she wants and will go after it. Tommy has been a fave of mine since he opened the door for Jo in Let Me Love You and I loved seeing him match wits and barbs with Kat. And despite this one being a novella you still get all the sexy times and emotion of the first three books in the series.

STORY:
Ok, I am not one for women being too aggressive in the chase, but I love the way Kat was with Tommy. She is spicy and her energy was so lovable. Tommy is like a big teddy bear and seeing him throughout the series, you feel like you really connect and have come to see how loyal he is. This was a short read and I read it directly after book 3. I have to say as well, I love this author’s work and her touching on actual topics that are taboo, but I was glad Kat and Tommy didn’t have any childhood trauma, because all the women in this series had a lot they had to deal with in their childhood. Kat’s and Tommy’s happily every after was a sweet one for me. They both deserved it especially Kat.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Love their first sex scene together. Go Kat.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
All the McClains of course and Tommy’s family, so sweet.
OVERALL:
Another wonderful read and story telling for this quickie.
TRIGGERS:
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Phew these two? Funny as heck! I love them, they’re hilarious they make me laugh. They could be serious for a minute and the next laughing, they have the type of relationship most people want, to be comfortable with each other, and living in each other, I love this one hard, you did really good author Alexandria House.
4.5
Even the novella in this series is full of steam, fun times, family and the best angst. I’ve wanted more of Tommy since book 1 and I really loved how Kat and Tommy were together
Kat is the only sister of three Alpha brothers. Although they’re very protective of her, she’s no wallflower. Kat can hold her own against her brothers, and her trifling husband. A point she proves very quickly.
Having gone through the ugly realization that her marriage is over, Kat starts working as her brother, NBA player Leland’s assistant. As Neal’s career and business interests are expanding, his brother Everett has loaned him one of his bodyguards, Tommy, to watch him and his family. Tommy, having had a brief fling with Bridgette recently, is looking forward to a change of scenery. One of Kat’s jobs is watching Leland and Kim’s son–not a job at all for her, considering how much she dotes on her little nephew. She adores him, and the feeling is definitely mutual. Leland asked Tommy and Kat to figure out the bodyguard assignments and schedule. Turns out Tommy has been eyeing Kat, and Kat’s been doing the same. There’s some chemistry between them, but neither act on it…until they do. Wading through the end of her marriage, Kat is second-guessing her decision making, and if another man will ever find her attractive. Tommy, wants a family of his own. He and Bridgette messed around, but that was all there was to their fling. Bridgette is focused on her career, and kids don’t fall into the equation of her short-term life goals.
Looking for some boosting of her spirits, Kat reaches out to Tommy. Tommy feels like he’s betraying his employers, and fights really hard to resist Kat. That doesn’t last long, and after spending time together, feelings start to emerge to the surprise–and delight–of both of them. It was great seeing Tommy and Kat define and work their way to their HEA. The family reactions are sweet, and hilarious! This is such an amazing family, and as it expands, the love…and silliness grow, too.
Jokobi Diem and Adenrele Ojo are amazing as narrators for this series. I can’t wait to get started on Neill’s story. Really looking forward to see what Nolan’s twin is up to.
I Found Myself A New Author!
This is Kathryn “Kat” McClain’s book…Kat is the McClain brothers’ sister…she’s been married to her high school sweetheart for years, but is in the process of a divorce….
Tomás “Tommy” Kirby, the big, sexy bodyguard, has worked for the Everett “Big South” McClain for a decade…and he knows getting involved with his boss’s sister isn’t good for job security, but these two are like a moving train…There’s no stopping them…And who wants to??
This novella takes place during Let Me Show You…I went back, because I didn’t know it existed when I read that book…and I had to read it…I REALLY like this series…
First off, Unc needs his own story XD and second, ummm An Afro-Latino Hero???? Like I didn’t know how badly I needed this read!
So sorry to have this series end. It’s like going home. I listened to the audio book, and I really enjoyed the narrators. I was able to get this one through Hoopla.
I liked Tomas and Kat’s story. I’m glad she got her HEA. Uncle Lee Chester asking Kat if she was going to get a “sectional”, was too much.
In this book, Tomas and Kat didn’t seem to spend as much time with the rest of the family, and the friendship between all of the sister in law didn’t appear as often, but it was still an enjoyable read. Definitely 4.5 stars.
Kat knows what she wants and knows how to get it! Tommy’s got his mind made up as well and will not be deterred .
Get to know them both as Alexandria House weaves a tale that you won’t soon forget . #LetMePleaseYou is that you’ve been waiting all week for so wait no more .
And since you deserve nice things get your copy & enjoy .
