The Collapse changed everything. Good men became killers. Strong women became property. And every day turned into a fight for survival.I once dreamed of becoming a nurse. That dream went up in flames the same day I graduated nursing school, when women were banned from holding any kind of medical license. Now as an unlicensed medic, I travel what was once the southwestern United States, trading … southwestern United States, trading medical services for food, transportation, and shelter with the hopes of reaching Canada.
Because the United States is no more. And the lawless land that’s replaced it is a deadly place for a woman.
My worst fear comes true when I’m captured by the Steel Demons MC, the most ruthless biker gang in the Southwest. These men thrive on the violence and chaos brought on by the Collapse, and they’re eager to unleash it all on me.
It doesn’t even matter that the President’s dog likes me. I’m as good as dead.
Sons of Anarchy meets The Handmaid’s Tale in this dystopian reverse harem adventure! This wild ride is not for the faint of heart and contains adult themes that may be triggering.

Lawless (Steel Demons MC Book 1) by Crystal Ash this has been a privilege for me to read. This amazing book is number one in this amazing start to a brand new series that I have fallen in love with. This is by far one of Crystal Ash’s best writen books. I can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Oh my alpha bad boy!!! This book sucked me in and didn’t let go until it was done. The last sentence nearly killed me. I can’t wait to get my claws in book two, I must know what happens.
As usual this author delivers a fabulous tale in a strange world, making us feel like we are there with the characters.
I highly recommend this book as well as the authors other books. You won’t be disappointed.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Ash has done it again!! She has created one mind blowing new world that totally sucked me in from the very first page. We get a world that has pretty much ended with an everyone for themselves type lifestyle that includes women being reverted to the old days of being used by all. Mariposa is determined to live a life of worth using her nursing degree that she got just in time for it to be declared illegal for women to hold a degree at all. She is making due working as a medic as she makes her way North to what is rumored to be a safe haven run by women. Imagine her surprise when her trip is derailed by a group of men known as the Steel Demons. These men barrel into her life turning it all upside down but in the end the really save her whether she knows it or not. I must say this book is truly fantastic. The world building provides an in depth picture drawing you to each character in turn making them all relatable. Add in the tension and drama and I just about guarantee that you wont be able to stop reading once you get started. I cannot wait for book two!! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
ONE ENGAGING ADVENTURE!!!
Explosive! Chaos and mayhem set the pace for this nail-biting, nerve racking, spine tingling, hard hitting, adrenaline pumping, page flipping bombshell that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. A spiraling flurry of unexpected mishaps and astonishing events launch those spinning emotions, coiling tightly, bursting to life brilliantly. Drama, adversity, intrigue, danger and suspense engage all of your senses while a horde of twists and turns run rampant. One thrilling storyline and gripping plot fuse this bad boy together one jagged piece at a time. Struggling through all the trials and tribulations along with a few bumps and bruises send this bad boy skyrocketing. The characters personalities are original, relatable and realistic with depth and individuality it feels as though you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are graphically detailed and descriptive making it easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Fantastic job Crystal, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

This was sooo good! i had no idea what i was getting myself into. im all about paranormal romance and this was the opposite. It was set in the “twentieth second century post apocalyptic”where the law doesn’t exist anymore. Everyone fend for themselves. Mariposa gets kidnap by this dangerously well known MC gang and the more she spends time with them she realizes they are not so bad…kind off. They live by a code and maybe she can too. They are no saints by any means just surviving. Mariposa skills are put to the test! Get ready for this bad ass adventure! it will blow your mind! Sexy Bikers, swollen , bestDog friend and FightClub a its best! #CrushingHardOnReaper&Gunner#sexyharem
At 7% of the book I wanted to reach out for a bag of chips…you know when you’re watching a scary movie and you’re suddenly feeling the need to dive into the popcorn? – that’s what happened throughout the book…it was so terrifyingly awesome that I either needed to fill this urge with chips or start biting my nails.
This book has one kick-ass female who doesn’t take crap from anyone, some scary biker dudes who are welcome to come kidnap me anytime they want and a community of people who are banding together to survive in the only way that they know how.
I am looking forward to the next book of the series!
What a fantastic book! The idea was brilliant and the dystopian theme was a great addition to a biker book. I loved the multiple pov’s and the world building Crystal has created. The world after the collapse is a terrifying and intriguing world. The characters each have depth and were written beautifully. There are still heaps of questions that I want answered about character backgrounds and more about the world, but knowing crystals books, these will be explained in the upcoming books. My only criticism was that I wanted to see more darkness, more brutality. From the premise that the world has ultimately been destroyed and the people living now lead completely different lives, I felt it needed a bit more violence. But that’s probably just my expectations in a world with the collapse. However, that being said, this book was fantastic and I really enjoyed the story. It’s a different RH book with some heat, humour and loyalty shown in full force. It’s a world I got completely lost in and will be hanging for more of the steel demons and Mari
I loved every single second of this book. It definitely did not disappoint! The world building is wonderful and the characters are believable and make you fall in love with them. I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series to see what happens next.
Can I give it like.. dunno.. 10 stars? Can I? This was definitely … hmm.. I think I have no words. First of all I did love it, even if it’s not word enough to describe how I really feel. I planned to go to sleep around midnight and did stay up till 2am to could finish it since it was impossible to put down. Complete page and head turner. The world that Crystal Ash did create is wonderful mix of post-apocalyptic earth and biker’s MC, with something deeper that is running there, I feel it. Guys are ruthless and they kill when needed but also they do have code to go by and they care for the little community they did put together. Each of 4 major male characters is wonderful in his own way. Reaper who is trying to always do the right thing, leading whole MC, but he have also this little softer spot just hidden from most of people. Jandro is typical playboy, joking and flirting is his every day manner. Gunner have lots of wisdom and knowledge, and this unique skill to find exactly what you need. And Shadow, broken, mysterious and apparently dealing with some heavy PTSD. And in middle of this all, a girl, Mariposa. Despite hard and harsh world she is forced to live in, she is still the girl who will give helping hand to anyone. She created her own code of working, and she keep to it. She have great heart and huge amount of compassion. And even if her relation with MC started not in the best way, she accommodate quickly. I loved all the little facettes of this story. The connection of Reaper with his dog Hades and Gunner with his falcon Horus are magnificent. Honestly, I loved every single word and am not regretting my very short night sleep at all, it was all worth it.
I have to say Crystal has written a fantastic new series here.
The government has collapsed in the USA and factions have set up in different territories and lawlessness is abounding in droves.
Mariposa was trained as a nurse before the total collapse and women still had rights and were allowed to have an education. Now they have no rights at all and can be sold as possessions or as entertainment. She was taken as a captive of the Steel Demons MC. She has to fight for her freedom, but does she really want to go or are the four men who are closest to her finding a place in her heart?
I can’t wait to see what develops in the following books. This one is not to be missed.
I received this book as an advanced readers copy and I voluntarily leave my honest and true opinion.
I love this book. I’d like a Reaper, Jandro, Gunner and Shadow. Where do I order them. I love the subtle use of paranormal.
Great start to a series! I love everything about it! Great relationship building, realism, and wonderful characters and trials!
I found my new favorite series! I love it so much. It has everything I enjoy! Twists, turns, heat, real life feeling, great relationship building, and wonderful characters and trials!
Why haven’t I read/listened to this series before now?!?! Holy moly I looooved books 1 through 3 of the Steel Demons MC book, I couldn’t stop listening and cannot wait for book 4! This series sucks you in and won’t let you go. I know the other books are out on ebook but I want to listen to them so I am dyingggg for more haha. The book hangover from these 3 was pretty bad, but totally worth it!
Story: I love how Mariposa is so stubborn and strong yet shows her vulnerable side here and there, especially when dealing with how men treat women and going to that next step with a guy/trusting them enough to move forward. I loved the various characters (main and side) and cannot wait to see what happens with some of them in future books! I won’t go into who is my favorite but honestly it would be too hard. I think if I had to, my favorite guy from book 1 would be Jandro but Reaper after he gets the stick out from his butt is a close second haha. I am totally intrigued by Shadow and Gunner is sooo yummy hahaha. I thought Crystal did a phenomenal job really setting the stage in this book, without boring us with too many details/backstory. I mean I love that stuff, but it wasn’t overdone/gave us some answers but left a lot unsaid. It is one of the better 1st book in a longer series I have read in awhile. Amazing job! I think some of the story had tough issues to go over, I mean this is a dystopian world where women are 2nd class and men can do whatever the heck they want to them without consequences. You know there are going to be some darker themes. I did get hit in the feels by a couple even in book 1, but they weren’t throwaway scenes. Each one had intention and brought another element to the story, which I greatly appreciated.
Narration: I haven’t listened to Troy Duran before but I thought he did a great job bringing the Steel Demons to life! He has a BA tone that he can bring the grit up a notch, especially with Reaper and Shadow. He brought Gunner and Jandro’s playboy personalities out, and their cheekiness haha. I thought the intonations/inflections were spot on. Couldn’t be happier with his performance! I haven’t listened to an audiobook with Keira Stevens either and again, she did a great job bringing Mariposa and the other side characters to life. I totally teared up with some of the darker parts in book 1 and the anguish you could feel and hear in her voice. 5/5 easily for the both of them.
I can easily say this series is a 5/5 for me so far, and the would definitely (and already have) recommend these audiobooks. I cannot wait for more and know this will be a re-listen series for sure. The Steel Demons aren’t what you think they are, and their story just keeps getting better and better with each book Oh and this animal companions…..so mysterious hahaha
This is a great new start to a compelling series. This is my first book by this author. I’m a huge fan of post apocalyptic romance. There is a severe shortage of well written ones. I love the world building, and the introduction of the animals. Hades and Horus who were larger than life. It’s like several of my favorite genres all rolled into one. It took me a minute to think what I wanted to say about this book. I love our heroine what she stands for and her values. Miraposa doesn’t feel well rounded. It’s like her life started when the book started. What is her history? Did she have love interests before? She doesn’t seem to have any friends or family. Really?!!! If it’s so unsafe then how has she traveled so far so long unmolested? She doesn’t have any fight skills. The guys were amazing. I don’t get a real description of Reaper. Gunner, Jandro, and Shadow are described way more. Reaper is just described as muscular and very vague. That’s just my two cents. I just didn’t want to leave stars only. I recommend this book.
Lawless is book one in the Steel Demon’s MC by Crystal Ash and it is certainly a different type of read. Set in the post-apocalyptic future, the world has changed. When the Collapse happened, the world changed, men became killers and women became property, only fit for breeding. All Mariposa wants to do is be a nurse and her dream was in the palm of her hand until the Collapse happened. Not being a registered nurse, she travels from place to place as a medic, trying to help where she can. That is until she comes under the radar of Reaper and his MC.
We follow the story as it slowly burns into a steamy harem-based theme with Mari learning her place in the MC and what each role the men she has met will have in her life as well as their role in the MC. Reaper, Jandro, Gunner and Shadow are all forces to be reckoned with and all have their own role within the MC. As you read about them, they seem to weave a spell on you and you can understand why Mari finds fighting her attraction so hard whilst trying to balance her morals with what is right and what ones does in order to survive.
This is certainly a slow burn book and it does start off a little slow but as it is part of a series, I understand the first book being all about setting the scene which it does really well. There is a lot going on in the background between characters and the end of the book leaves you wanting more which is the general idea when writing a series. Even though Crystal Ash is new to me as an author, she really has me intrigued as a reader as her books are really different, enticing and leaves you a little bit breathless. I for one will be reading the next book in this series.

Excellent writing and a great story! I felt like I was there. Borrowed on Kindle Unlimited then purchased the series because book 1 was so good. Can’t wait to get started on book 2!
*WARNING* story contains violence and sexual content
This story would be better with more world building, but I really like the storyline. This is a dystopian world where society has basically collapsed. There is no government, no laws. The Women of the world are viewed as servants, prostitutes, or whatever men want them to be. The Steel Demons are men who do what they have to do to survive. The four main male characters have distinct personalities. The female lead is very from the male leads. The story has a lot of character growth. I couldn’t put it down. I am hoping to learn Shadow’s story, the big is most definitely my favorite of the main four.
Lawless by Crystal Ash is Book 1 in the Steel Demons MC Series and it’s a super read. Lots of people have been talking about this book and you can understand why. It’s been written really well, the characters are substantial, the storyline is considered and well paced. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next. Great read.
Lawless is Book 1 in the Steel Demons MC series, Crystal Ash author. This is the first book I’ve had the pleasure of reading by Crystal Ash and it will not be the last. Her world building is excellent and character development is super. Crystal’s ability with words draws you into the story and you experience the adventure with the characters. This is an action filled, page turning adventure that has a balance of drama and steam. Crystal is now high on my Author-To- Read list and I am anxious to see what she has in store for Mariposa and her four Steel Demons MC guys. This is a book I highly recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
