Brody Wolf was a hellion in Carolyn’s English class. He set a record for detentions and made her first year of teaching miserable. Ten years later she visits Santa Fe to nurse her widowed grandmother and bumps into Brody again. Her world tilts. Miraculously recovered, Mama V has traded her walker for a new beau. And Carolyn’s student has matured into a caring man who helps her conquer a … paralyzing fear of heights. But can Brody convince his former teacher he’s not a kid anymore?

I loved this story. The characters, Carolyn, Brody and especially Mama V, are well developed. Even the secondary characters stand out. The vivid descriptions whisk the reader to Santa Fe. The story draws you in. Late Bloomer could be applied to both Brody and Carolyn. I was sorry to reach the end. It is harder to say goodbye to some characters than to others. I highly recommend this book.
I loved everything about this book. The storyline, the characters, the relationships, the location, the history and the romance are all beautifully interwoven into a wonderful book that I didn’t want to put down. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
This is a very fun and enjoyable read from an author who knows how to write with emotion, humor and chemistry. She ably wrote the teacher, Carolyn, and former student, Brody, in a respectful way and took her time crafting their growing relationship. It’s a beautiful contemporary romance that will leave a smile on your face and joy in your heart.
Carolyn runs into “His Hotness” at the airport on the way to visit her grandmother in Santa Fe. Her former high school English student in Gull Harbor, he was a trouble maker that made her first year difficult for her. Well he’s grown up now into a very sexy man. Carolyn wonders is it taboo to want a younger man and former student. But she doesn’t want boring Alan, her grandmother’s boyfriend’s staid balding son in his forties. And there’s no one for her back in Gull Harbor. Brody makes her happy and helps her overcome her fears. Can she trust that he’s put his playboy ways behind him? Is she willing to risk moving away from friends and a secure job in Gull Harbor to be with him? Sexy romance with lots of humorous moments.
Although this is book four, the story stands on its own, but it really was great having read the first three stories. Late Bloomer is about old…let’s say acquaintances…who meet up after time has moved on. Carolyn was a first year high school teacher to Brody’s senior student. They meet up at baggage claim, at an airport of all places, when Carolyn comes to visit her Grandmother, far away from the high school class where they first met. Their first “meeting” is funny and sweet and made me laugh. No spoilers from me!
It’s a rough start, considering Carolyn is very cautious and Brody has changed, grown up, into a “hotty”. And Mama V is about the hippest “grandma” I’ve ever met. Reading their story, and journey, had ups and downs and the cutest bit is how they learn how to make their relationship change from teacher/student into adults and a relationship. All in all, a really good story that will keep you reading until you read ‘The End’!
What a great book! I loved Brody and Carolyn and Mama V! Mama V was actually pretty amazing! I love reading books where I can enjoy a great romance, as well as learn something interesting, and this book had it all!
I can remember driving through New Mexico every summer as a child on our way to my grandparents in southern Colorado, and stopping to look at the beautiful jewelry laid out on beautiful blankets at the rest stops. Now that I’m much older, I have wished that I could go back and learn more. And now I know much more about the weaving and patterns, and even museums!
This book was wonderful all the way around!!! So glad to have found this great author, and I’m looking forward to reading more from her! I was fortunate enough to get this book for free for my honest review, but I’m now willing to pay to read more from Barbara Lohr!
Late Bloomer (Man from Yesterday Book 4) by Barbara Lohr
This is Brody and Carolyn’s story.
What an amazing May/December story where the women is older. Carolyn taught Brody during his senior year and her first year teaching high school. It’s been ten years and ran into each other when traveling to see her grandmother. Brody is no longer a high school boy. He is all man. I loved his character. There was so much depth to Brody. It was fun and sweet watching their relationship change.
Some seemed concern about the student/teacher relationship. There was nothing inappropriate between them during the time Brody was her student. It’s been ten years since they have seen each other so you are talking about a woman in her early thirties and a man in his late twenties getting together. Ten years changes a lot of things. The story was done very tastefully.
This was a fun and entertaining read. I really enjoyed Brody and Carolyn’s story. A May/December romance with humor, chemistry, and lots of emotion with the woman being the older one. We need more stories like Late Bloomer.
