Kitchen Confidential reveals what Bourdain calls “twenty-five years of sex, drugs, bad behavior and haute cuisine.”
Last summer, The New Yorker published Chef Bourdain’s shocking, “Don’t Eat Before Reading This.” Bourdain spared no one’s appetite when he told all about what happens behind the kitchen door. Bourdain uses the same “take-no-prisoners” attitude in his deliciously funny and … deliciously funny and shockingly delectable book, sure to delight gourmands and philistines alike. From Bourdain’s first oyster in the Gironde, to his lowly position as dishwasher in a honky tonk fish restaurant in Provincetown (where he witnesses for the first time the real delights of being a chef); from the kitchen of the Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center, to drug dealers in the east village, from Tokyo to Paris and back to New York again, Bourdain’s tales of the kitchen are as passionate as they are unpredictable. Kitchen Confidential will make your mouth water while your belly aches with laughter. You’ll beg the chef for more, please.

Vulgar!
Cured me of wanting to be a chef! Great description of life in the kitchen
Just the best book written on the subject. If Bourdain cooks half as good as he writes he’d be a James Beard Award cover boy.
absolutely fascinating! In addition to being an outstanding chef, Anthony Bourdain has proven himself to be an excellent writer. Being in the food industry myself, I found his description of the goings on in the “back of the house” all too true and occasionally, unfortunate, but that’s this industry!
Much like his tv shows only better. He doesn’t hold anything back. Love the way he writes. Better than the shows.
I love this book.I hav e reread it a number of times- it is original and clever!~
Yuck. Just yuck.
Ever wonder what goes in in the kitchens of everyplace you eat? This book tells it all.
A great look at the seamy underbelly of the modern restaurant.
Definately not as good as I was expecting. I would not recommend this book to a causal reader. However, if you are a food junkie or someone who enjoys biting commentary then this book is for you, The book wasn’t for me,
Must read book for any foodie.
Some may call Bourdain brash and arrogant, but read this and form your own opinion!
Good read on what really goes on behind kitchen doors!
Fun read!
The kitchen like youd never imagine. Unless of course youve worked in one. Julia would not allow this kind of behavior from her crew…its real…and raw…just like the ingredients they cook up
I enjoy his books and shows.
Fun interesting read about the inner workings of the restaurant business. Oddly, this book stuck with me
Rather not know what goes on in restaurant kitchens,
Now I like the idea of open kitchens in view of diners!
Big fan of Bourdain, enjoyed it very much.
An articulate, rollicking read, taking us through the magnificent ups and equally astounding downs of Bourdain’s career as a chef. The book details the childhood beginnings of Bourdain’s love affair with food and teenage misadventures as a cocky, overconfident cook. He has no problem turning the lens on himself, the good, the bad and the ugly. The …
