Kiss & Makeup is the delightful second book in the ‘A Destination of Heart’ series but it can also be read as a stand-alone. When Maddie and Connor first met during a cruise in ’12 Days to Love’ Maddie firmly and deliberately put Connor in the friend zone .. a decision they both regretted. This is their story, their second chance. Kiss and Makeup is a sweet, romantic story with lovely characters and a great location. I enjoyed this book and thoroughly recommend it to all romance fans.
What a fun story. Maddie and Conner have such chemistry you wonder how she ever put him in the friend zone. The plot is well written with plenty of humor, romance, a lovely setting, and great characters. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the series.
Kiss & Makeup is a well-written, clean, contemporary romance that I enjoyed reading. Maddie and Connor are both likable characters, but not perfect ones. Connor did have the perfect game plan to get out of the friend zone. He’s charming, sweet, and incredibly thoughtful. The plot has some twists and moves at a good pace. There’s a lovely HEA. I’d recommend this to readers of clean, wholesome romance. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
Kiss & MakeUp was such an entertaining book. I just love Maddie, Connor, Connor’s family and the other well defined characters. It was fun exploring London with Maddie & Connor. Connor pulled out all the stops to show Maddie a great time. Of course some things go wrong, but that is life. A clean, sweet romance to keep you enthralled.
Leaving The Friend Zone
This book is the second in a series. I have not read the first book but would like to. This book stands alone just fine, but references to the first book make the reader want to find out what they missed. This story does not have a surprise ending. The reader always knows where the story is going. However, the journey to that end is quite fun. The story is a delight. The hero is the type of guy dreams are made of. I found it interesting that the author did not go much into the physical description of either the hero or heroine – she left plenty of room for the reader’s imagination. The author did a great job in writing this book. I have read several of her other works and they all have a high level of quality and a perfect balance of detail. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.
I LOVED this book so much!! This can be read as a standalone, but I consider it a companion to 12 Days to Love where Maddie and Connor first meet. Isn’t the cover adorable? If Maddie hadn’t fallen in love with Connor I would gladly take him–he’s the perfect guy!!
Once you’ve put a guy in the friendzone how do you get him out? Should you even try? Is it better to keep him in the friend zone than risk losing his friendship if he doesn’t feel the same way? This is Maddie’s dilema. She firmly put Connor in the friend zone and has realized she made a mistake. Maddie gets a second chance when she gets a job on a movie filming in London. If she’s a smart girl she won’t waste this second chance with the handsome, charming Brit. Connor is determined to win Maddie over so she’ll move him out of the friend zone. He’s got all kinds of surprises lined up and a lot of sightseeing planned.
I loved the chemistry between Maddie and Connor and was so thankful when Maddie’s work friend gave her this advice He sounds like too much of gentleman to cross the line of friendship without some serious encouragement from you. Yes!! At last something (a kiss maybe) was going to happen.
What’s the saying “the course of true love never did run smooth”? This blossoming romance is not going to be an exception. No spoilers from me on what happens, but I was yelling in my head “you’ve got to be kidding me!!” Don’t despair, it finally all works out.
If I didn’t make it clear already I LOVE Connor. What’s not to love? He’s British, (but not the least bit stuffy), he cooks, is a great dancer (which is high on my list), is a perfect gentleman at all times, calls his love interest ‘love’ (in that great British accent) and takes care of her when she’s sick, AND he has a dimple!! There was (possibly still is) some serious swooning going on over here. Don’t tell my husband–he doesn’t know about Connor.
I liked the titles to the chapters–so cute, and since I probably won’t ever get to visit England I’m thankful for the author’s wonderful descriptions of the places Maddie and Connor visited. This is now my favorite book by Lisa Swinton.
You don’t have to read 12 Days to Love to read this swoony book–you won’t be lost or left wondering if you missed something. That being said, it’s a fun book and you’ll learn how Maddie and Connor’s best friends Lily and Zander end up together.
I received a copy of the book from the author but all thoughts and opinions of this book are my own.
