I never believed in angels until I saw her standing in the middle of a crime scene, covered in the blood of a girl she knew nothing about. One look and I knew I needed to know more. Turns out, Faith Donovan is the answer to a lot of prayers…and my one shot at taking down Los Zetas, the biggest drug cartel left in Los Angeles. The way I feel about her has nothing to do with my job though. She makes … do with my job though. She makes me want to wrap her in my arms and keep her for myself. Too bad for me, she’s off limits.
Witness protection, they call it.
I call it a sentence in hell.
I’m allowed to look, but I’m not supposed to touch the woman who’s been abused by her mother and imprisoned by a gang for most of her twenty-one years. I’ve never been a rule-breaker…but that’s exactly what I want to do when she turns those big brown eyes in my direction.
When Los Zetas paint a target on her back, all bets are off. I’ll find a way to keep her safe and keep her to myself, even if I have to kill every single cartel member along the way.
My name is Detective Octavio Hernandez, and Faith Donovan belongs to me. Once I claim her, no one will ever touch her again.
Kill for You is the second book in a series of interconnected full-length novels featuring law enforcement officers willing to do whatever it takes to protect the women who need them most. Each book can be read as a standalone, has no cheating, and a guaranteed HEA.

A Terrific Story
I won’t get into the premise of this book because the authors blurb does a good job with that.
What I will say is that Ayden does a terrific job with a horrific subject. I was so taken in by the depth of the two main characters of Octavio and Faith that I read way late into the night or should I say early morning as I needed to know how it would all work out. There were quite a few surprises within the storyline along the way and one that I didn’t see coming.
If you’re looking for romance and suspense and don’t mind an alpha male willing to protect an innocent woman willing to help even though it will endanger her than this is the book for you. Although there is a lot of unpleasant things there is also a HEA.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Detective Octavio Hernandez rescues Faith from her enslavement to a gang. As he hides and protects her, they grow closer – reveal their secrets – fall in love. Along the way, they have help from his friends and fellow law enforcement officers, help protecting her, help finding out why the gang wants her back so badly, help discovering who her father was. The action starts in the first chapter, and never lets up, dealing with gang violence, abuse, and human trafficking. This is my first read from this author, and completely grabbed my attention, making me certain that I’ll read the rest of the series. This book is long, dark, twisted, incredible. I found that I could read for a while, then needed to step back to absorb the story and let my emotions settle.

Kill For You features Octavio Hernandez and Faith Donovan, who have been in parts of the Her Best Friend’s Father series and Fight For You. Octavio is a detective with the Lost Angeles Police Department and is terribly overworked. Faith works as a bartender in a gang controlled bar, where she receives no pay check for her troubles, but at least she’s not cooking and cleaning for the gang boss when she’s tending bar!! This book absolutely could be read as a stand alone, but you get so much more out of it if you read the Teplo Trilogy, Her Best Friend’s Father series and Fight For You. And the majority of the characters from the previous books, at least the ones still alive, come back to visit in this book. The only two good guys that didn’t make an appearance at all were Tristan and Lillian from Teplo.
Now that the who is out of the way, let’s go for the what. Faith and O meet when he’s called to a mass shooting at the bar Faith works at. Hot mess! People shot, dying or dead all over the place. Faith agrees to help identify the people that the police didn’t have info on, which made the gang that kept her as a slave mad. From there on, as we get to know Faith, we learn about what kind of life a cartel or gang slave, that’s not used for prostitution, is like. I can tell you, you probably want some tissues nearby. It’s not even just the gang that abused her, but her own mother. Emotional abuse was happening even more often than the physical abuse! This book wrecked me!! And it was amazing!! If you’ve ever liked anything by Ayden, you should get this and read it!! It is worth it. Since its a novel, everything is out to a bit faster pace than what you’d expect in real life, but Faith goes through all the stages. It makes your heart bleed for this fictional character. The signs of a truly amazing author is her to g the reader to feel what the character is going through, and Ayden is all over that!!
If you like dramatic romance about some cops that make a difference every time they put their badge on, this is the book for you!! It is extra steamy in places, but not gratuitously. A++ book!!
Ayden K. Morgen has written a 5-star book that has Faith dealing with everything that has happened to her in the past 5 years with the help of one Detective Octavio Hernandez. Faith has been under the control of the gang Los Zetas for the last 5 years and her life has been a living hell. All she wants is to get away from them but they hurt people who are nice to her so she has no one on her side now. She is at the only place that she has a little freedom and all of a sudden bullets start flying through the building. When the police get there A Detective Octavio Hernandez sees her and notices that she is hurt. Her hands are all cut up so he goes up to her and gets her the help she needs. Octavio asks if she can help him with the people hurt or the ones who were killed in the gang shooting. She does what she can and then she is taken to the hospital and put under police protection. The Zetas still try to get to her so the police department puts her in a safe house. While there one of the officers tries to force her to do things with him. The other officer comes in and saves her. Octavio comes to see her and finds out what happened and he goes to see the boss of the gang unit and friend. He tells Roman what happened and he tells Octavio that the officer will be dealt with. As Faith and Octavio spend more time together, his feelings change for her but he knows as long as she is under the department’s protection he can’t have a relationship with her. With the gang still after her and the way she reacts to men, Octavio decides to take her to his house so that she can stay with Roman’s fiancee during the day. When he does take her to his house, things get a little difficult for him. He has wanted her from the first time he saw her. She has started to write what she knows from the last 5 years on the gang and gives it to Octavio so he can put the gang away. The leader of the gang wants Faith back and has put a reward out for her. Octavio does some research and finds out why the gang wants her so bad and he plans to stop it. With the help of some friends and the information Faith gave him, Octavio has the reward removed and the promise that no one will be coming after Faith.
Will Faith ever get over the abuse that she lived with before Octavio got to her?
Can Octavio help Faith get past everything that happened to her and let her know she will be safe?
This was a page-turning, emotional book that will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens next. I would recommend this book to anyone.
I received an ARC of this book for my voluntarily and honest revies.
A romance set against the backdrop of gang wars, abuse, and strong men who fight for good.
I’m following this gritty series with obsessive interest because every couple tells an unforgettable story of sacrifice and deep love. Octavio and Faith stole some pretty good scenes in the previous novel, and now it’s their turn to fully squeeze our hearts. And so they do.
Gang violence, human trafficking, abuse, and revenge are some of the heavy themes that this book dives into.
Faith is a tiny angel who has suffered immense abuse from her captors for years, and her frailty is in sharp contrast with her resilience, bravery and battered hope.
After a raw opening scene, she is sheltered by a knight in shining cop armor who is after a vicious gang boss.
The relationship between them is one continuos sigh-inducing and heated gift. He protects her, but more than that, he understands the vile things she’s had to endure, so the level of comfort and gentleness he is capable of showing her is truly humbling and you can’t help falling in love with him. Honorable, yet tempted, he struggles with his desire for her. And there is so much chemistry!
I loved how they feel drawn to each other, his tentative approach to helping her in body and mind, his commitment to protecting her. I liked her sweet innocence and sad resoluteness, admired her survival instinct. They both fight for the right things.
The plot revolves also around the secret that surrounds her family circumstances and how they link with the cartel affairs and the violent criminals who want her back for retaliation. Those final chapters vibrate with tension, flying bullets, horrid men, and turbulent emotions. I loved seeing my favourite characters play a role in this new adventure. And I think this couple falls in love with epic passion. Love literally pours out of this story.
The resolution brings a couple of surprises, beautiful romance and a bittersweet closure. I had hopes for the next story to be about Octavio’s sister, but instead it will be about Selena. I’m still in
Favourite quotes :
Maybe it’ll be enough to know that, once upon a time, I mattered to someone.
I want to be the one who gives her everything she needs to flourish.
Another amazing love story with feeling, emotion, and an incredible in depth plot tying all the men and ladies we already love from previous books from Ayden!
Having a dynamic like this is really interesting in that we get to see a whole new level of characters from previous books like Kincaid, January, Mila, and Roman; while also digging into a new branch of the same city and what areas this new book will explore.
This story is really one of a woman who is dealing with a lot of pain and ptsd, which is incredibly hard to put behind her and the one man who actually wants to be there through thick and thin to protect, help, and love her. I really loved the chemistry between Octavio and Faith! They always banter and bicker but end up smiling and happy in the end; not to mention the growly, protective man and the woman who loves it dynamic always gets me!
Such a good read and for sure one to add to your tbr!
I am an ARC reader 🙂
Octavio and Faith connect at a crime scene. Octavio is investigating the gang shooting and Faith is a reluctant witness.
The story unfolded with a bang but moved slow in the chapters thereafter. Only after the 50% mark does the pace pick up again. This is a standalone in a series and you do meet other couples and the set up for further stories is included.
I appreciated the growth in the relationship between Faith and Octavio. He supported Faith in her journey working through her fear in a very realistic and responsible manner. I sometimes felt that she was a bit too young for the more worldly Octavio and would have liked her to be a little older. She was so childlike that I sometimes thought her much younger than her assumed 21 years (16 plus 5 in “captivity”) but this was a minor issue.
In all an enjoyable read, with a plot that was well developed and intrigue in just the right amount. A bit OTT on the type of security/protection for all females in this book but not enough to put me off reading it. All men are huge hulks suffering from an overprotective streak where it concerns their very dainty and extremely small and young wives /girlfriends. Perhaps reading the other books gives more justification for this.

Faith is a slave to a cartel in LA. When Detective Octavio Hernandez saves her, it becomes his job to protect their star witness. Faith has been mistreated for most of her life and living free is her goal. She is still a captive, just to the police and now hunted by the cartel. Octavia is big and handsome and entranced by this small tortured female. A really good read. Sexy, romantic and danger filled.

I was hooked on this story 2 chapters in. Faith is another amazing female lead that spends most of the book coming to terms with her tragic history and becoming the strong woman that Octavio sees from the start. Both characters have had their lives upset by the Zetas gang. But Octavio is a take charge Alpha guy who takes Faith and shows her life can be so much more. Every chapter had me falling a little bit more in love with him. He is the perfect foil to Faith. Plus we got to visit Roman and Kincaid again and I love those two so much. This book is just so well written and the story just flows. seamlessly. It’s easy to become invested in the characters right up to the very end.
The relationship between Faith and Octavio went from victim/witness and cop to an attraction which is against Octavio’s work ethics, but when you are in love, it doesn’t matter.
Great story, well written and fast paced.
I received an ARC and I’m leaving my honest opinion
Wow, what a book! It is an absolutely fantastic, thrilling, riveting, passionate, and emotionally deep read! This story had me hooked from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. It is well written with a well-developed plot, moves along at a brisk pace, and an on the edge of your seat page turner full of suspense, action, nefarious acts, twists and turns, and more. The characters are amazing, likeable, strong, and you will root for them; the chemistry between them is smoking hot. Definitely recommended!

Kim’s Review- ‘Kill For You’
5 ‘Outstanding Character Development’ Stars!!
Thank you to Silver Dagger Tours for my free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Well of course I’d be drawn to this book, the genre, the blurb, the man in a suit on the front it all screams ‘Kim’s read’ really. And it did not disappoint one bit!! In all honesty, I am so proud to have this author representing the romantic suspense genre. Here’s what I enjoyed.
Character development- Boy, can this author craft an alpha-male (that’s not a dick, and come across as not very nice. ) The whole male line up is just tooooooooooo dieeeeeeeeeee for! In one shape or form I swear to God, I tell no lies here. I found the main character Octavio to be very believable, authentic and hot! His co-workers and the other guys who he worked with in the plot, were all just as hot and enjoyable to meet. The same for the females, Faith is just adorable and so strong. Overall I felt that this author did a great job with developing a strong male lead, and a believable female lead that has experienced major trauma.
Now the ‘bad guys’, to me they were also really enjoyable to read and very well developed.
Plot and Pace- it moves quickly, has twists and turns and one very unexpected change for Faith. I never saw it coming ( no spoilers). It was beautiful to read, and nice that it was an outside of the box twist too. The whole plot ties together nicely, it felt almost like reading not just romantic suspense, but also a detective story, as we readers ‘get to the bottom of the mystery’ around Faith.
Reality- I must say, I found this plot to be very realistic, it touches on abuse and the human sex and slave trade. It tied in very well with Faith’s plot twist I mentioned. So not only for me as a reader did I feel the characters were extremely believable, so was the plot, reality, likelihood of things happening. It all left me with no doubts over the character’s motives and actions. It touches on drugs, crime, and gang related activities also. Just brilliantly executed.
Overall, five wonderful, well written and enjoyable stars from me. Romantic suspense fans you don’t wanna miss this one, I’m just sayin’. I would read more of this author’s work. I have the next one on my kindle, and gutted I can’t read it in time for the end of her book tour, but trust I’ll be reading it!! I wish Author Ayden K. Morgen all the best with her career, and may her pen take over the genre by storm!
