The last time I saw my first love was twelve years ago. We fell hard and fast, but it didn’t stop me from leaving.
I never expected to see her again, but when I move back to my small hometown, there’s no avoiding it—especially since her dad’s my new boss.
The more time we spend together, the more I want a second chance to be the man she deserves. As old sparks resurface, we grow closer. Though … grow closer. Though she denies she feels the same, I notice the way her body reacts when I’m near.
Gemma isn’t mine—yet—but I’m willing to risk everything for her.
KEEPING YOU AWAY is book 1 in the Tyler & Gemma duet and must be read first.

Loved Loved Loved this.
We meet Tyler in Liam and Maddie’s story I couldn’t wait to know more about him.
Tyler spends some time in jail about a crime he didn’t commit, when he gets released he goes back to his small town to find work while he gets back on his feet.
Gemma is Tyler’s sister best friend, she started to write Tyler while he was away in the military, they briefly had a relationship when we returned, but he couldn’t stay in their hometown forever when he left he broke both of their hearts.
12 years later he returns and finds out she’s engaged and she had no clue that he would be working at her father’s shop.
I can’t wait to see what happens next in this duet
“Keeping You Away” is an amazing book and is the perfect beginning to Kennedy Fox’s new Ex-Con Duet Series. I found it captivating, exciting, and definitely a page turner. From the first page I was fascinated by the story of a man who wanted to start over and the woman he allowed to get away many years ago. I was familiar with Tyler’s character and I was eagerly anticipating his story. Tyler is a complex man who proudly served his country and unfortunately, also served time in prison. He is a true friend, a hard worker and is devoted to his sister, Everleigh. Moving back home was his only option, and Tyler hoped he would be accepted back into the community. His biggest fear was seeing Gemma again. She had always been in his heart, but he knew that forgiveness may not be in the cards for him. Being around Gemma every day would test his patience, his courage and his heart. Tyler wondered if Gemma could ever forgive him, and would he be able to accept that she only wanted to be friends. Can Tyler and Gemma forget about the past or will their memories be too strong to ignore?
Book 1 of the new Ex-Con duet is LIVE! This book is about Tyler from a previous couple duet by Kennedy Fox involving Liam and Maddie. But don’t worry, if you didn’t read it you don’t have to in order to read this one, BUT you should (because it’s just as amazing as this story!). I love a second chance romance and this one did not disappoint! This book had all the swoon, angst, and steam, so grab it quick to get started on this duet! This story line had me hooked from the start. At times though I wanted to reach through my phone and throttle Gemma for not kicking her fiance to the curb and seeing what was so obvious. I can’t wait to read the next book and the how it all ends. Definitely a must read!!
Loved the mystery and intrigue but I got a little lost going back in time, then to the present and flipping to Tyler’s Las Vegas life. The chemistry between Tyler and Gemma is red hot. Looking foward to seeing what comes for these 2. I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
I really enjoyed this book, and I can say that I liked it more than previous books, from Roomates Series.
Keeping You Away from the first paiges sucked me into the whole story. It was funny and sweet but also steamy in a very slow burn way HOWERVER sizzilnig chemistry between main characters was really amazing from the begining.
I’m really curious how this stroy will be going on in book no 2.
HOLY HADES WTF did I just read……..
Kennedy knocked it out the park with this one. It had suspense, romance, and all the angst in the world that I could not put it down. I started reading it and I could not stop till I was done and the ending lord help that ending was epic. It stopped right at a good place and I need the second book like yesterday!
This is one of those duets that will grab you and entrance you with each chapter. The characters Tyler and Gemma are amazing and they had me wondering what was going to happen between the two. This is a one click read for all you so go on out and grab it and read it before book two comes out.
Kennedy Fox never fails to write amazing duets and cliffhangers that have you frantically purchasing the next book! When I read Tyler in the roommate series, I fell in love with him and couldn’t wait for his story. KF gave me exactly what I was looking for!
Keeping you Away it’s Tyler and Gemma second chance love story.
They met when younger and had a briefly romance. Since Tyler was young he wanted to explore the world and left her behind. A lot of things happened in between and he goes back to their small town.
Gemma moved on with her life but they can’t denied the sparks between them. This is book one in their duet.
The fact that it’s related to another duet made it a bit confusing for me at times because I felt some details were missing. Overall it’s a great story and I can’t wait for the final book.
I enjoyed this story, but Holy Cow…..I find myself hanging by a thread!! I could not out this book down and now I really really need book 2.
Tyler and Gemma have a short but beautiful history. Tyler left and wound were made. They never got the closure each needed. Gemma is moving on and she is even engaged.
I love Tyler ever since he was brought into Liam and Maddie’s story. I am team Tyler all the way!!Kennedy Fox
Tyler has finally been released from jail and is moving back to his small
hometown. The one and only girl he has ever loved is still there but she is now engaged. He has lost it all. He must rebuild his life in the one place he swore he would never go back to.
This book grabs you and sucks you in from the beginning. Tyler has a strong presence and you just want to see things turn out well for him after all he has been thru. His sister Everleigh is a lot like him and is hilarious to boot. I’m already looking forward to the second part of the duet to see how this all unfolds.
Was an amazing book! Was hooked from the moment I started reading.
Love me a good Kennedy Fox book! I’m looking forward to reading the 2nd duet book to see how Tyler and Gemma end up. Tyler is a great book boyfriend!
This is the 3rd book I read by Kennedy Fox . This book’s storyline was okay. I liked the hot & steamy scenes. Gemma’s character was okay. Tyler’s character was okay. Gemma & Tyler got on my nerves. I didn’t like the ending.
Whew. That was a ride. I’m a huge fan of the Bishop Brothers and Circle B Ranch series by Kennedy Fox. When I was given a chance to be on their ARC review team, I jumped at the chance. I was given a code for the audiobook version for my honest review.
I love all the romance tropes. Best friend’s sibling and second chance romance stories are definitely in my top five. We start five years ago when Tyler comes back from serving in the military. He’s back home in Alabama for his sister’s graduation. While gone, he was exchanging letters with her best friend, Gemma. Over the 4 years, feelings start to develop. The two spend the summer together and Tyler leaves ending things.
Fast forward 5 years later, Tyler is back. Gemma is engaged. The spark and chemistry is still there. Tyler was her first, it’s hard to forget your first. I love the sweetness of the small town they’re in. The unresolved feelings got me. I love the angst. Tyler is so swoon worthy. Gemma is coming into her own and is showing her backbone. And this is a duet and that cliffhanger? Whhhattttt?? I can’t wait for part 2!
Both narrators, Tor Thom and Lia Langola were fabulous. Tor has a deep voice you can fall into. I love Lia’s Southern’s voice, she’s the perfect Gemma.
Tyler and Gemma have been exchanging letters with each other, while he was serving in the military. And through that they got to know each other pretty well. Now Tyler is home for his sister’s graduation and he and Gemma spends one magical night together, and then he leaves again ending things between them. Now its 5years later and Tyler is home… And Gemma is engaged. But the chemistry is still there between them. Like it always will be with your first love.
As you can imagine, two people in love and they drift apart and now they are back in the same place, but the other one is engaged… Yep queue the angst And just when I was getting into their story, it ended, like HELLO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT???
The narrators were awesome, I love Tor Thom, his voice, I love that deepness, definitely I think that is what Tyler would sound like. Lia Langola’s voice I had to get use to, but she won me over in the end. I am definitely looking forward to the conclusion of these two’s romance
I listened to the audio version of this book. This is the first book of the Tyler and Gemma Ex-Con Duet and a second chance at romance trope with one or two other’s thrown in. I wish I had read Liam and Maddie’s Duet first, but after awhile I felt like I knew enough of what was going on.
I loved Tyler’s character. He had been to prison only because he had been set up. He’s really an upstanding guy. He’s doing his best to stay away from his old flame, Gemma, because she’s now engaged.
I really hated that Gemma was with the guy. He’s older and controlling. Yuck! She’s trying to be a good girl and fight her feelings for Tyler because of the fact that she IS engaged. But when you’ve got one guy that would do anything for you and the other that you feel is trying to take over your life, which do you choose? Since this was left with a cliffhanger (and what a cliffhanger it is!), we’ll have to wait and see. I can’t wait to read the second book!
I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.
This is my first Kennedy Fox book and man oh man what a start. This is part one of this great duet. Tyler is back after 12 years and is now working for Gemma’s father. They shared a great summer years ago and then he left. Gemma is now engaged but Tyler was her first love and sometime first loves never die.
I have to say I all in to this story and the audio version just brings it to life. Tor Thom and Lia Angola are new narrators to me and I have to say they did an excellent job. Tor’s deep voice made Tyler all the sexier and Lia is great with Gemma as well. I was honor to receive a free code for the audio version and I am honestly leaving a voluntary review.

I love Gemma and Tyler! Gemma’s fiancé was such a jerk. Oh I could just strangle that man. He needs a gold digger as a wife not Jemma.
I feel that Gemma and Tyler are so good for each other and time does not lessen their feelings for each other.
But the heartbreak killed me! I felt how Gemma felt and let me tel you, it sucked.
A contemporary romance with a twist of suspense.
This does land on a cliffhanger which I was not expecting but definitely worth the listen/read.
Can’t wait to get started on the next one!

“I’m second-guessing everything, and I’m worried you’ll break my heart. So please don’t. If you tell me my feelings are one-sided, I’ll understand. But if they’re not, show me.”
.
Review: This is a duet so this one ends on a cliffhanger. I got into the storyline pretty quickly and didn’t want to stop till the end. I can’t wait to dive into book 2! There are friends in this book, Liam and Maddie, that have their own books. I did not read their book, so I didn’t know, but the connection does get explained throughout the book.
.
Gemma works at her family Auto Shop as the office manager with her Dad. She is engaged to a workaholic and starting to wonder if this is the life she really wants.
.
Tyler has just returned to his hometown after being in prison for 5 years. In need of a job and a fresh start, he gets hired at the Auto Shop.
.
Tyler is Gemma’s best friend’s Brother. They have known each other for years and got close as pen pals when he was in the military. They spent a magical summer together when he returned, but he left 3 months later. It’s now years later and Tyler has returned to his hometown. These two had so much chemistry and passion. I loved Tyler. He is such a good guy and only wants the best for the one that got away. All the while knowing she is too good for him. A few times I wanted to shake Gemma. She is trying to do what’s right and expected of her instead of what her heart is telling her. I loved their connection and how they still have such strong ties to each other without realizing it. This is a slow burn, angsty, second chance romance filled with a little bit of mystery. The ending leaves you on the edge of your seat! So get ready!!! I listened to the audiobook by Tor Thom and Lia Langola. This was my first book narrated by Lia, but she did a great job as a Southern girl. Tor has such a great deep voice and was so perfect for Tyler.
3.5-4 Stars for Gemma & Tyler
Gemma & Tyler’s story intrigues me. They both frustrate me to the nth degree.
Gemma works hard at her dads garage and loves it and takes pride in it. But she’s engaged to Robert, who treats her like a doormat. He’s an obvious self absorbed ass. There’s nothing redeemable about him and yet Gemma stays with him. She goes back and forth between not being ready and “well I committed and said I’d marry him so I might as well.” I’m not at all convinced she loves him.
Tyler’s arc is interesting. He’s a military vet who fell for his little sisters best friend while he was deployed. When he finally comes home him and Gemma start dating. But Tyler knew he couldn’t stay in his small hometown. He wanted more and he left and went after it. Gemma didn’t go with him. Tyler got mixed up with the wrong people and ended up in jail. When he gets out he decides to return home to start over.
Tyler and Gemma’s chemistry is so real. Their push and pull, their angst and need for each other is real.
Cant wait to see how they get to a HEA
