Before surviving the Scorpius bacterium, Tace Justice was a good ole Texas cowboy who served his country and loved his mama. After Scorpius, the world became dark, dangerous, and deadly—and so did he. The Vanguard medic is stronger, faster, and smarter than before, but he’s lost the line between right and wrong. His passion is absolute, and when he focuses it on one woman, there’s no … turning back for either of them…
Sami Steel has been fighting to survive right alongside Tace, convincing the Vanguard soldiers she’s one of them. In truth, Sami is a former hacker turned government agent who worked at The Bunker, where scientists stored both contaminants and cures. Only she knows the location, and she’s not telling. Yet when sexual fire explodes between her and Tace, she’ll face even that hell again to save him.

Review:
I loved this book! I knew I would because I liked Tace in the other books so I was really looking forward to his book. Tace been through allot and has changed since he got infected.
Sami was great as well, I knew what she was hiding and was waiting to see how it would all play out.
What is this book about:
The book starts off where the last one ended, but we’re now focusing on a different couple. The president attacked the merc’s territory and is still gunning for everyones asses.
Tace has been having issues since he got infected. He doens’t feel like he used to anymore, he actually hardly feels anything at all. The disease also gave him OCD. If that isn’t enough he is experiencing episodes of numbness, loss of vision and black outs, that are getting worse over time.
Before his new found ocd only focused on stuff but it now turned its attention on Sami. Strong and beautiful sami. Sami that has a vulnerable side that she isn’t showing to people. Tace knows she is lying about something and really wants to help her. But she has to trust him first.
As both of them grow closer, it’s becoming clear that Tace’s symptoms arent as innocent as one might thing. And what Sami is hiding is bigger than Tace could have imagined. Will they be able to pull through? Relationships are hard enough as they are without rippers, a crazy president, cults, and the world going to hell.
What did I like about this book:
I liked that, just as with the other books, that the underlying story keeps going no matter which couple is being featured. I love the setting, the world building, the characters and the thrill and suspense of the story.
I loved Tace, the man has the right amount of darkness, and charm to him. He still is a good ol’ texas boy deep down. I liked Sami as well but she did get on my nerves in the beginning a few times. Example she and Tace slept together. They agreed that it would be a one time thing, and after wards she was insisting that it wouldn’t happen again. And when asked, and Tace said as much she was thinking stuff like “was it just a one time thing for him? didn’t he like it? etc etc”. Like girl you where insisting on it.
I can’t wait to read about Maureen and Greyson’s story. Greyson really intrigued me in the last few books. He seems like a down right bad ass man.
Rating:
4 1/2 I really liked it Stars
Another thrilling chapter in the apocalyptic world were the Scorpius virus has killed off 99% of the population. I think I liked this story more than the others because now we have two established couples along with the “new” couple the book is about plus the addition of the Mercenaries who get more page time along with finally learning more about the Bunkers that have been talked about in all the previous books.
Tace Justice and Sami Steel are characters that we’ve known since the first book. Tace we’ve known both before and after he contracted the virus. Before he was the good ole boy from Texas with a wicked sense of humor. Since surviving it his thoughts have become darker and his obsessions rampant, with his biggest being his attraction to Sami. Turns out Sami has been hiding some pretty big secrets about her past and her knowledge of the location of the Bunkers. She is pretty kick ass and as tough as the guys and her past of hacking for the government just ups her coolness.
I was happy that things moved along knowledge wise in finding out what went on in the Bunkers and the huge surprise that we learned in them. I hope there are many more books to come as I would love to have Greyson and Maureen’s story along with the surprise couple we met in this book. Plus there are still plenty of loose ends still rolling around that need to be tied up.
I had to go back and read the first 2 books in the series because Justice Ascending was so good.
Great series. Love this author.
