In this New York Times bestseller, comedy legend Carol Burnett tells the hilarious behind-the-scenes story of her iconic weekly variety series, The Carol Burnett Show. In In Such Good Company, Carol Burnett pulls back the curtain on the twenty-five-time Emmy-Award winning show that made television history, and she reminisces about the outrageously funny and tender moments that made working on the … funny and tender moments that made working on the series as much fun as watching it.
Carol delves into little-known stories of the guests, sketches and improvisations that made The Carol Burnett Show legendary, as well as some favorite tales too good not to relive again. While writing this book, Carol rewatched all 276 episodes and screen-grabbed her favorite video stills from the archives to illustrate the chemistry of the actors and the improvisational magic that made the show so successful.
Putting the spotlight on everyone from her costars to the impressive list of guest stars, Carol crafts a lively portrait of the talent and creativity that went into every episode. With characteristic wit and incomparable comic timing, she details hiring Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner, and Tim Conway; shares anecdotes about guest stars and close friends, including Lucille Ball, Roddy Mcdowell, Jim Nabors, Bernadette Peters, Betty Grable, Steve Lawrence, Eydie Gorme, Gloria Swanson, Rita Hayworth, and Betty White; and gives her take on her favorite sketches and the unpredictable moments that took both the cast and viewers by surprise.
This book is Carol’s love letter to a golden era in television history through the lens of her brilliant show. Get the best seat in the house for “eleven years of laughter, mayhem, and fun in the sandbox.”

I loved it
Absolutely wonderful! I can’t get enough of Carol’s stories! Keep them coming!
Just a huge fan of Carol Burnett
I enjoyed Carol’s descriptions of the backstage antics, but there was nothing new otherwise.
Disappointing rehash of the show. Not very personal or enlightening.
broth back many members
I got bored with it half way through even though I loved her and her show. There was a lot of “mutual admiration society” going on with her buds.
Love, love, LOVE Carol Burnett!
What fun ton learn behind the scene from Carol’s view. Such a lovely lady!
If you were/ are a fan of the Carol Burnett show, this is a must read. Carol watched every single full length episode and shares funny stories about most of them. She talks about her friends, the back stagelife, and little know facts. Just a nice change of pace.
brings back oh so many wonderful memories of the garry moore show and the carol burnett show. A time of gentle humor with no political, sexist or inappropriate language humor. Makes me want to buy the CDs and relive the days of yore. That ‘gone with the wind’ scene still cracks me up every time and ‘mama ‘is so close to my family sometimes that it spooky.
Always loved Carol’s memoirs and this one was no exception. Her generous personally is such that even w her antagonists, she never takes the bait of seeking the “last word” in her books, but always ends an anecdote kindly.
Loved this show!
I loved the show and I loved this peak into the inside.
For Carol Burnett fans this is a fun book to read.
This is a fun book to read. Carol Burnett treats this book like her show was, easy going, witty, with great explanations of skits and their characters. A very enjoyable book. Like this was a fun show to watch, this is a fun book to read.
I don’t believe Ms. Burnett has ever publicly said an untoward word about anyone, and in show business, this is rare. The book pulls back the curtain on 11 years of The Carol Burnett Show, much loved by so many. There are inside looks at how Carol got into show business, how the show got off the ground and how she took control of the show that bore her name. Many amusing and informative anecdotes within.
I’m old enough to remember the Carol Burnett show, so this was a wonderful trip down memory lane. Fun and jokes without any political agenda.
A nice book about a nice and funny lady. Keep smiling, Carol.
Warm lov ing. Interesting
