In this New York Times bestseller, comedy legend Carol Burnett tells the hilarious behind-the-scenes story of her iconic weekly variety series, The Carol Burnett Show. In In Such Good Company, Carol Burnett pulls back the curtain on the twenty-five-time Emmy-Award winning show that made television history, and she reminisces about the outrageously funny and tender moments that made working on the … funny and tender moments that made working on the series as much fun as watching it.
Carol delves into little-known stories of the guests, sketches and improvisations that made The Carol Burnett Show legendary, as well as some favorite tales too good not to relive again. While writing this book, Carol rewatched all 276 episodes and screen-grabbed her favorite video stills from the archives to illustrate the chemistry of the actors and the improvisational magic that made the show so successful.
Putting the spotlight on everyone from her costars to the impressive list of guest stars, Carol crafts a lively portrait of the talent and creativity that went into every episode. With characteristic wit and incomparable comic timing, she details hiring Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner, and Tim Conway; shares anecdotes about guest stars and close friends, including Lucille Ball, Roddy Mcdowell, Jim Nabors, Bernadette Peters, Betty Grable, Steve Lawrence, Eydie Gorme, Gloria Swanson, Rita Hayworth, and Betty White; and gives her take on her favorite sketches and the unpredictable moments that took both the cast and viewers by surprise.
This book is Carol’s love letter to a golden era in television history through the lens of her brilliant show. Get the best seat in the house for “eleven years of laughter, mayhem, and fun in the sandbox.”

A lot of behind-the-scenes info and new tales about a well-loved show.
Watched Carol Burnett faithfully. Great entertainment. Love her books.
Delightful
As a retrospective, it was very good, but you need to have seen many of these shows to appreciate the book. The history of Carols career was a bright spot as well as the insight around her relationships with her costars. No egos, no one up manship, just a bunch of talented performers doing what they do best: entertain. And there were many shows so it did get a bit long.
Fun read.
Back in the day, The Carol Burnett Show was must see TV. I LOVED reading the backstory to some of my favorite comedy memories from my youth. Read the book, then U tube the videos of the skits she discusses. You won’t be sorry!

Carol Burnett is just a delight. I listen to the book in her own voice and it was terrific
As a child, my family and I would watch the Carol Burnett show. It was of my favorite shows of all time. The book by Carol Burnett, tells about the behind the scenes of the show and a little bit about the guest stars, and her co-stars. I really enjoyed the book except for writing the dialogue of the skits, I would have rather read about more of the inception and inspiration behind it. Overall, it was a really good book.
If you like the Carol Burnett Show you will enjoy this book
I love Carol Burnett and grew up watching The Carol Burnett Show. I laughed until I cried at some of the stories she tells about the show and the guests. She is never cruel or gossipy with what she tells. She is honoring to the people she talks about. Well worth the read if you are a fan.
Brought back a lot of memories. One of the few shows I watched as a kid.
If you have ever enjoyed Carol Burnett on TV, you will fall in love with her story. She is the kind of person we would like to live near by.
This book was really light reading, consisting of anecdotes and background on The Carol Burnett Show. It was entertaining and easy to stop and start as time allowed. I wouldn’t pay full price for it – it was just fun but definitely not a page-turner. More like something interesting to read at night before falling asleep.
