Oliver Ice, one of Boston University’s notorious hockey players, has been on my radar since I slammed into his rock-hard body during my first week of college, three years ago. He helped me to my feet, muttered an apology, and ran off after his girlfriend, dashing my hopes of a happily ever after. Now, he’s the bartender where I work, and this time, very much single. Night after night I watch the … watch the tall, broad, and sexy right winger mixing drinks and being Mr. Personality, while I remind myself how horribly my last relationship ended.
But when Oliver overhears a private conversation, he offers to be the one thing I need more than anything–my pretend boyfriend at a dreaded family reunion.
One weekend was all it was meant to be.
How do I protect my fragile heart when the lines between fantasy and reality blur with our first kiss?
ICED can be read as a standalone

Iced is a wonderful addition to the Boston Terriers Hockey series .
Oliver Ice is the right wing for the team and also the bartender at an upscale club. He has sworn off woman and dating since the indiscretions of his ex left him with a bad taste in his mouth.
Ava is smart, beautiful but slightly insecure when it comes to her talent, abilites and men. She has the worst betrayal . Her ex byfriend is now cozied up to her sister….yes really!
Ava has always thought that Oliver was handsome, since she first laid eyes on him three years ago but he was with shall we say one of the mean girls so she wasn’t sure what that said for his character.
Now they are both a bit bitter and scorned in the love department.
The moment Oliver lays eyes on Ava while she is working he can’t look away but soon he realizes that have a mutual friend. He over hears an innocent coversation and jumps in to help . Now they are off on their to Ava’s family reunion and they are ready to put on a show but it soon becomes so real!! I loved Oliver and Ava! Watching them grow, develop and realize that their so much to them than what their ex’s left !!!!

This was the second book I have read by Jacob, the first being Checked (Book 1 in the series). I enjoyed Checked but I loved Iced! It was a fun, fast, fabulous read!
Ava has had a crush on Oliver for the past few years; but as a popular hockey player and with him being in a relationship, she knew she never had a chance. Luck would have it that they both end up at the same job – he was the bartender and she was a dancer. Now that both of them were single, would anything ever happen?
At work, Oliver overheard a conversation Ava was having with a friend and offered a solution. He was now her “fake” boyfriend to bring to her family reunion. How could she say no? But was this really a good idea?
What happens when lines between real and fake become blurred? After their past relationships, can these two trust each other enough or will their relationship end before it could ever begin?
Oh Oliver!!! He was so lovable…and everything you could ever want in a guy! Iced will melt your heart! Such sweet romance with a little sexy thrown in!
This is a really sweet story. It’s about Ava and Oliver who are both reluctant to trust after being burnt, but then, when they stopped looking for love, love found them instead.
It’s a very well-written story and Oliver is truly the prefect boyfriend. And I think that’s one of the reasons I had trouble to enjoy this read. Both Ava and Oliver are just so perfect. Too perfect. They’ve both been cheated on by their exes, but that’s the only trouble in their paradise. It’s also in their past. So there was minimal drama, smooth sailing throughout and no particular emotional highs or lows to be seen, or felt, in this case.
Also, since this was a college romance, the story taking place at a college with, not surprisingly, college-aged characters, I would have expected some college-aged antics. Some humour. Some laughs. But most characters – and most especially Ava and Oliver – acted more middle aged than anything. They were just so freaking mature and (this hurts me to say but) boring. Well mostly. They didn’t feel like twenty somethings at all.
So, Ava’s and Oliver’s freakish maturity combined with the lack of humour and any real conflict had me feeling quite lukewarm towards this read. Not even the nooky was enough to cheer me up. The only book by Chance I had read before (Depravity, book 1 in the King University series) was hot hot hot. Meaning I was counting on some scorching action in Iced as well and was quite disappointed in what I got.
But despite my feelings about it (or, in this case, the lack thereof), Iced is a perfectly fine read. It just wasn’t for me. I require more angst in a story, more emotion and tension, more imperfections and some high quality naughty to enjoy myself. But it’s a really well-written story, albeit short, with lovely characters and a HEA. So, for me, Iced is a solid 3-star. The fabulous cover picture (love it!) might raise the grade to a 3.5 though. But either way, I’m quite positive that for someone more appreciative of sweetness, Iced will be a 5-star.

4.5 star review of Iced (Boston Terrier’s Hockey #2) by Jacob Chance
When Oliver Ice overhears a conversation he shouldn’t he has no idea how much his life will change because of it.
Although a stand alone, I would suggest you read Checked the first book in the series and then Iced to enhance your enjoyment, although having said that it is not necessary.
This is Oliver and Ava’s story and I really enjoyed this book. From the first to the last chapter Jacob Chance wove such an engaging story that I couldn’t help but be drawn in.
What happens when a “fake”relationship suddenly morphs in to so much more? That is the position that Oliver and Ava find themselves in when he offers to be her pretend boyfriend for a family function.
I fell hard and fast for Oliver, he was such a great guy, totally swoon worthy, protective and caring. Ava was a little harder to warm up to but I understood her more as the story progressed. I really liked Oliver and Ava as a couple, they blended well and it was great to see their relationship progress throughout the story.
Their chemistry was off the charts and the fact that Ava, says what she thinks had me laughing quite a bit of the time. A great addition to the Boston Terrier’s Hockey series and I am looking forward to the next book.
From first year of college, Ava had developed a crush on the most notorious hockey player, Oliver Ice. But he had a long time girlfriend and she saw there’s no chance for her. Not that he would ever notice her.
Three years later, Oliver’s single and had no intention of going back to dating for awhile because he caught his long-time girlfriend cheating on him. But when he saw a brown-haired girl dancing, he was enamored, attracted. He found out she needed a date for the weekend to face her family, especially her ex-boyfriend. He jumped in to help her and everything felt right.
But both of them are not looking into something serious. Both still jaded. Will they fight their attraction or will they give in? You’ll just have to read this sports romance!
ARC was kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.
You really can’t go wrong with a Jacob Chance book, but Ava & Oliver are just so swoon worthy he really took it to an entirely different level with this book. I love their story, their history that makes them each so much better for each other. Oliver & Ava each carry their own self-doubt due past relationships and both have “run-ins” with their exes…but the love that grows with Ava & Oliver will make your heart skip a beat or two.
Ice Ice baby! Oliver is the perfect man! Loyal, romantic and protective. He’s my new favorite bbf by this author! Oliver will leave you swooning for days. Ava needed a fake date but she got so much more. This book will steal your heart and leave you with a massive book hang over.
This story is absolutely adorable. Oliver and Ava are just devine. You get all of the really sweet feelings with this. He is a perfect book boyfriend, and she is a perfect girlfriend. There journey is one to remember. The writing and flow of this book is perfect. I absolutely recommend this book and series.
Jacob Chance scores with ICED (Boston Terriers Hockey). Boston University hockey winger Oliver Ice offers to help co-worker Ava Madigan by pretending he is her boyfriend at her family reunion. However, one weekend might be enough. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult readers.
My son and I just visited Boston University on a college tour. It was fun reading this story after having been at the campus. ICED is a heartfelt and captivating read. I liked both Oliver and Ava. They had a lot in common, including that they were both cheated on in their previous relationships. Neither one of them is in a hurry to date again. I like that they form a friendship and become protective of each other. They act as buffers when around the others ex. They have great chemistry and are admirable people.
Jacob Chance does an impressive job with ICED. It is skillfully written and mesmerizing throughout the entire story. The hockey scenes are easy to visualize. The characters are relatable. I recommend this story to people who enjoy sports romances and/or fake boyfriend romances. I’m looking forward to readind book three. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Oh my gosh, this book had me from beginning to end. Oliver is this guy who really knows how to treat a woman and never says or does anything to make her upset. Ava is the girl next door type and tries will all her might to be fair. But when these two make a pact it slowly turns into something so much more and by the time we se it happening, we’re in awe of them. This is so of Jacob’s best work and I have read almost all of them. I can wait to see who’s up next. Excellent read Jacob! I give it 5 stars.
have been Iced and it feels so good.
My heart is so fickle! I thought Clancy was my favorite…move over…Olivier is my new love.
This series is so enjoyable.
Fast, easy reads that make me swoon.
Jacob Chance creates series..worlds that you
don’t want to leave.
Highly recommend this one.
I’m so looking forward to Shaw..I think he’s next..I hope he’s next.

Oliver and Ava were simply perfect!!! Oliver was an all around good guy and Ava was amazing. They met Ava’s freshman year and didn’t start talking until senior year. At first she thought he was an a**h*** based on the girl he previously dated but he was sooooooo far from it. When she finally got to know him better she realized how wrong she was. They were friends and then feelings started getting involved and I LOVED how didn’t fight against the opportunity of becoming lovers. Ava was t intimidated by his ex, she was a feisty heroine and Oliver showed Ava’s Ex that he’s there for her at all times. Great read by two beautiful people that were hurt in the past but overcame it and found happiness with each other.
Yet another 5 star read by Jacob Chance! Iced was more than just a sports romance. Oliver and Ava’s resistance to their attraction was enjoyable to follow; resulting in a passionate, true love. Definitely recommend!
Loved this book! It was a quick read but I didn’t feel like it was too rushed. I am sometimes hesitant to read fake relationship because authors like to add excessive drama sometimes but Jacob did a great job keeping the drama reasonable. I would recommend this book as well as any of the other Boston Terrier (football and hockey) to anyone! I fall in love with all the characters so I want all their stories!
This book is a slow burn. From friends to lovers they have quite the journey. Oliver is the guy you would want.
ICED is the sweetest and most swoon worthy read I’ve read in a long time! Oliver is so compassionate and caring and Ava is just as sweet and understanding. These two couldn’t have been a more perfect match. ICED is just another confirmation as to why I adore Jacob’s words! I could literally feel the love every time Oliver touched Ava’s face or she looked into his eyes! As I expected, Jacob delivered another 5 star chill bump top fave!
When I saw the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book, I literally jumped at the chance. After reading Checked, I knew I had to continue the series. I really wish it was a complete series because the wait is literally killing me between books. But all good books are worth the wait, and Oliver and Ava’s story was definitely worth the wait.
Iced is Book Two of the Boston Terriers Hockey series and I absolutely loved it. This one focuses on Oliver and Ava. Ava has admired Oliver from afar since she first saw him as a freshman, but he is too involved with his girlfriend at the time to even notice her. Once she realizes just how bad his girlfriend is, she judges that Oliver can’t be that great of a guy to put up with that.
Three years pass before they meet again and Oliver’s first view of Ava is when she is dancing. His ex cheated on him and he has sworn off women. But he can’t help but feel the attraction when he sees Ava. They both end up working at the same location, Ava as a dancer and Oliver as a bartender. When they finally speak, Ava’s prejudgement comes out and he can’t help but wonder why. Ava has a past of her own and has sworn off men herself.
When Oliver overhears Ava asking another guy to help her out, he can’t help but insert himself into the situation and help her out himself, sparking a fake relationship to help her get through her own family reunion where her ex and sister have gotten together. This family reunion was everything! I loved the entire thing, especially because the more time they spend together, the more the sexual tension builds.
Neither of them are ready to really push past the friends part so when they finally do admit their feelings, its beautiful. I literally teared up at their admittance. Especially because a lot of it had to do with Oliver’s own ex trying to come back into the picture. Their sexual tension is only surmounted by the fact that Oliver truly is a good guy and is perfect for Ava.
Much like the first book in the series, Iced is so much more than a sports romance. It has character and depth, allowing you to get a further look into the world that Jacob has built for these characters. He brings back characters from the other Boston Terriers series, building a world around the hockey team. The amount of detail allows you to fully immerse yourself in the book, setting each scene perfectly like a movie that is playing in your head.
I continue to fall in love with these books and this series! I loved the football ones and the hockey ones are definitely following suit with just how much I enjoyed them. I can’t wait to officially own them all in my Kindle library! Definite must read and even though this is a standalone, I highly suggest starting with Checked as its the first book in the series.
“Once bitten twice shy”
Once again I’ve been rewarded by automatically one clicking this author. Iced is a great addition to the series, the characters are funny, endearing and the true definition of friends. A beautiful journey learning to trust in your heart and to not listen to the doubts in your mind.
Oliver and Ava both have been through the wringer by their previous partners. As a result they’ve both sworn off the opposite sex and are wholly focused on making it through their final year at a Boston University. Ava needs a date to a family reunion and Oliver becomes that said date. Friends just pretending to be more, this will be an easy gig because neither of us are looking for a partner. I give them a high five for trying because they did a good job of fighting that magnetism.
4.5 Stars for Iced book 2 in the Boston Terriers Hockey Series.
Iced may be book 2 in the series but I firmly believe it could be read as a stand-alone, that being said I’m sure if this is your first read in the series you will want to go back and read the previous book.
Oliver is one of the star players for the Boston Terriers, life should be great but he is trying to get over a failed relationship and now he sworn off woman for the rest of the season and his final year at school. Having to repeat his last year because of a woman is a bitter pill to swallow but when he meets Ava he finds emotions and feelings like he has never felt before ……..
Ava is also getting over a relationship but unlike Oliver she is living life to the fullest, she is has always wanted to dance so when she gets a job at Score an upmarket bar dancing she is over the moon. Oliver was once the man Ava dreamed about but that was in freshman year and she has moved on since then but when Ava needs a fake boyfriend for a family function will Oliver step in and safe the day and what happens when this couple with sizzling chemistry spend some time together …..guess you need to read the book to find that out.
I really enjoyed Oliver and Ava’s story, I was drawn in from the first chapter and there was no putting down until I had read the final line. This author certainly knows what his fans want, he weaves an engaging story that draws you in and captivates you. This is a book with all the feels, it’s full of witty banter and sizzling chemistry and it has characters you will fall in love with. I laughed, I swooned and I smiled a lot whilst reading this entertaining fake relationship to lovers story and I can’t wait to see where we are taken with book 3 n the Boston Terriers Hockey series.
I never get tired of reading anything by Jacob Chance. Iced is other example of his wonderful writing and sharing his love of bacon. I loved reading and following Oliver and Ava’s story. I found that their shared hurt was able to show they cold trust each other even when the past came knocking. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
