Oliver Ice, one of Boston University’s notorious hockey players, has been on my radar since I slammed into his rock-hard body during my first week of college, three years ago. He helped me to my feet, muttered an apology, and ran off after his girlfriend, dashing my hopes of a happily ever after. Now, he’s the bartender where I work, and this time, very much single. Night after night I watch the … watch the tall, broad, and sexy right winger mixing drinks and being Mr. Personality, while I remind myself how horribly my last relationship ended.
But when Oliver overhears a private conversation, he offers to be the one thing I need more than anything–my pretend boyfriend at a dreaded family reunion.
One weekend was all it was meant to be.
How do I protect my fragile heart when the lines between fantasy and reality blur with our first kiss?
ICED can be read as a standalone

Absolutely fabulous! Jacob Chance never fails to deliver an amazing story! Oliver has been Ava’s college crush since freshman year but Oliver never really “saw” her until her senior year because he was invested in his current toxic relationship. Both are recovering from bad relationships when they really meet and decide to fake a relationship that will benefit each other. Soon, that attempt of faking turns into a force they both attempt to fight! The chemistry they share is off the charts so it becomes a battle of giving in, or sticking to their plans to not get involved with anyone to accomplish the goals they have. This slow burn romance is certainly swoon worthy!!!
Jacob Chance continues to deliver page turners with every book he writes and I am never disappointed and always looking forward to his next release! If you are looking for an awesome college sports series that gives you complete standalone with each book and no cliffhangers to read, The Boston Terriers Football series or The Boston Terriers Hockey series is definitely a must read!
Iced by Jacob Chance is not only a sports romance, which I absolutely loved, but also a fake relationship story, let me tell you I was all in. Ava “met” Oliver her freshman year, but nothing came of it. Three years later, could she have been wrong about him? I loved Oliver. He just got out of a relationship and is not looking for more, but then he sees Ava. Ava needs a date and Oliver tells her he can help.
Though nothing about their date should be real, the chemistry certainly is. Oliver was sweet and charming. Ava was strong and determined. Though neither wanted anything to do with a relationship, sometimes life has other plans. I simply devoured Iced and cannot wait to read more of this series! Jacob Chance gave us a sweet and charming story with all the best feels!

happy reading!
I’ve said it before I’ll say it again…
Jacob Chance owns the Genre of Sports Romance!
Iced is the latest instalment in the Boston Terriers Hockey series and I gotta say this series is every bit as brilliant as the Football series if not better. Jacob knows how to add the most minuscule detail to make you fall for his leads and their stories.
I think first and foremost the characters in each of Jacobs books is a massive piece in helping the reader connect and adore them. He injects the perfect amount of fun and emotion into each book, and I think this series needs to become a TV series stat. This would make for total perfection and bring the characters and his writing even more to life.
Iced is Oliver’s story and has fast become one of my fav Jacob reads, he is the perfect mix of fun & swoon. I love Ava, what I love more is Ava & Oliver together. I was invested in these two beautiful souls and the sexual and emotional chemistry they shared was palpable as I was reading. Iced is a delicious slow burn that will leave you swooning long after you’ve finished reading.
Highly recommended read, you all need to “Get Iced” today.
One of the aspects I enjoy about the Boston Terriers series’ (both football and hockey) is getting more insight on the secondary characters; those who have already had their respective books, and this that are hopefully coming soon. This was how I met Oliver; he was introduced in a previous book. From the moment I met him, I wanted his story. He seemed like a genuine, loyal character and I needed to learn more about this interesting man. I won’t go into any specific details but I will tell you that Oliver is recovering from a breakup. One he didn’t see coming, so of course he was blindsided. I was hurting for him, but I knew he was better off. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given a second thought to Ava.
Ava has also gone through a breakup. And while I thought Oliver’s ex was a rotten piece of you-know-what, Ava’s ex was a jerk in the first degree. So, while Ava and Oliver navigate a platonic relationship, their true feelings won’t stay hidden for too long. This book is definitely a slow burn. I appreciated the slower relationship development between Ava and Oliver that much more because of the pace of their growing relationship. Their connection was believable.
I definitely recommend this book. And while Iced can be read as a standalone, I promise you’ll enjoy reading it even more if you read the other Boston Terriers books. They are all standalone sports romance with a side of comedy and filled with lovable characters. I can’t wait for the next book n this series!
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it!
Love loved loved! This story had me smiling and feeling giddy. Oliver and Ava were just perfect. I love that their relationship started out as friends and they got to know each other before they gave in to their attraction. Their connection and attraction was undeniable but it was made all the better from the waiting and anticipation. The way Jacob wrote this had me unable to put this down and I swear, I did not stop until I was done.
The characters in this story really pulled me in. I enjoyed the set up of the book and the way they figured things out as they went along. The steam worked really well within the story and didn’t overwhelm it. It’s on the lighter side of life though not a comedy, just a really enjoyable read.
4 stars
I’ve always been a sucker for a sports romance, especially the way Jacob Chance does them! This is only my second Chance novel but with his delicious characters, I’ll keep coming back for more.
Oliver Ice is the stuff fantasies are made of, at least, if they’re Ava’s fantasies! She’s been crushing on the hottie hockey player since freshman year when they ran into each other in the quad. Literally, smacked right into each other, then he ran off to find his girlfriend, which sort of dashed Ava’s hopes to fill that role herself. Wink wink.
Later the two meet again and find they work together, making for some awkward encounters for Ava. Despite Ava’s initial reluctance, she begins to let him in and realizes she didn’t know him at all. He offers to save her pride by playing the part of her boyfriend but it was never supposed to feel so real!
Great read. Oliver and Ava were great together. He was a downright sweetheart and after Ava got over her initial thoughts about him, she was a hoot. She doesn’t hold back and just tells it like it is. (The only thing I don’t care for was how judgey she was in the beginning.) I loved the other characters as well and can’t wait to read more from this author.
