God indeed has a sense of humor. He chose children to teach us too-smart adults what being his child means, the very special relationship the believer enjoys with our Heavenly Father. We adults experience the same chaos, misadventure, and heartaches as our charges. Through a child’s example, we learn how God nurtures us with his infinitesimal patience. This easy to read, often hilarious … narrative, uses cartoons, witticisms, anecdotes, quotes, and Scripture study to bring home these truths. A veteran social worker, Rondeau draws upon her many experiences in working with families as well as her personal experiences as a mom. You will want to keep this book close at hand for those moments of weakness and pass the story along to your friends.

This book made me laugh. I’m a mom to 11 kids with another on the way. There have been so many times that I’ve prayed and wished for patience. And then I immediately regret it. It’s not that I regret wanting patience, it’s more that God seems to give me more scenarios to test my patience when I’m praying for it.
With this book you get a fun humorous study or devotional for parents. It’s one of those that you will hang onto and use over and over. And then while some might pass their copy on, I personally will purchase a new copy to gift to friends. Because let’s face it, all parents should have a copy of this book! It’s much needed humor added to the challenging job we’ve got going on.
I really enjoy reading what this author has to say. I’m an adoptive mom though we never went through foster care or even the state when we adopted ours. It was a family adoption handled through attorneys and a judge. Even with that I have such a respect for those who foster children.
Grab this book. Read this book. Reread this book. And keep it handy on the shelf to grab when you’re having a particularly challenging day.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I had to laugh as I saw the title of this book. I struggle with patience everyday. It is something I have prayed for but my stubbornness wins every time. Well until I had my first child that is. My world changed the moment I heard the first cry. My heart melted and I knew there would be many restless nights and tears ahead for me.
The book is a great tool for parents with scriptures and stories that help us deal with patience. Yes it’s true children try our patience. What we need to understand though is they are learning while we are there to guide them. I remember the non stop questions my children had for me. Why? How come? Did I have all the answers? Absolutely not. What I did have was God who gave me wisdom, taught me to take a deep breath and learn patience.
I loved the part about teenagers. Just as we think we have gotten through the tough toddler years, a new challenge sneaks up on us. Oh how I remember my boys as teens. Each one had their own ways to push my buttons. What happened to my sweet little babies? The book shared that all we need to do “is grab God’s hand and He will give us instructions when we need to turn left or right or stay straight on our course.” We are never alone and God is right there to see us in our darkest moments.
I thought the book was very helpful and loved the biblical references shared throughout . It would be a great baby shower gift or something to keep for yourself. There are questions to go over and scriptures that encourage you and strengthen your patience. Children are a gift from God. He will be there to help you as your raise them.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Have you ever heard the saying, “Be careful what you wish for”? The same idea applies to prayer. Be careful what you pray for because God may just grant your prayer. Plus, I personally know God has an incredible sense of humor because He blessed us with three sons and then a daughter. So when I saw the opportunity to review this book based solely on the title, I knew I had to read it.
Filled with humor, instruction, Biblical passages, and instruction, this book belongs in the libraries of all mothers, grandmothers, and those who fill mother-like roles. Being a mother brings the greatest challenges along with immeasurable blessings, and this devotional captures that idea. I found myself shaking my head in agreement along with laughing at points in this book. I had a hard time putting this book down. So check it out for yourself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own
I Prayed for Patience God Gave Me Children, phew! Isn’t that the truth? Parenting is one of the hardest job we can ever have because it stretches and pulls us in many directions. One thing I liked about this book is I felt like I was sitting down with Rondeau and she was telling me of the good that can come from this parenting experience. She was uplifting and encouraging to parents to remind them they are not alone in this journey. She did not give a list of things we are doing wrong or things that we should be doing, but rather showed what the Bible says and how it could be helpful to our lives.
I loved the Bible references, especially the fact that there were multiple, to connect God’s truth to our lives. There were questions afterwards to think about the concept further then to apply it to our lives. There were several different topics with plenty of examples to relate to.
I enjoyed this book and felt encouraged. I appreciate the time Rondeau took to encourage me as a mom when I feel like I need to have it all together but instead need to lean on the One who created my family.
I would highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.
Even if, like me, you are past the years of raising children, you will enjoy this book, which features humor along with real-life experiences to bring home lessons that only children can teach us. Readers will be able to identify with the situations the author shares and be encouraged by the Scripture and wise counsel. The book is part devotional and part comic relief from the tough circumstances we often find ourselves in. The little cartoons with their witty captions and the pertinent quotes included make the book fun too. You can read it one entry a day or straight through in an afternoon, as I did. It would make a great gift for a new parent too. The text is divided into sections, covering such subjects as Persevere, Teach, Lead, and Protect. Anyone who has ever worked with children should be able to enjoy the insights cloaked with comedy and reinforced by God’s Word. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this short devotional that truly captures the joy and the craziness called parenthood. I really enjoyed how the author sprinkled some humor in her personal stories and helps us see that we are no super moms. We truly cannot do it all and we are not mean to. I think this is relayed in the book in a way that truly gives you some peace about it. This a very short read and it would be a perfect gift for a mom who is brand new or for any mom that needs a little encouragement and reassurance through out the day.

I Prayed For Patience: God Gave Me Children is definitely a book I can relate to. I like how Linda Wood Rondeau was able to use her experience as a parent and grandparent to give some helpful tips. There was humor sprinkled in throughout the book. There is, also, some inspiration, some useful advice, and some faith filled quotes. I enjoyed every single page of the book.
I am giving I Prayed For Patience: God Gave Me Children four and a half stars. I recommend it for other parents or parents soon to be. I know many parents like me will be able to find this book be quite handy. I would love to read more like this from Linda Wood Rondeau in the near future.
I received I Prayed For Patience: God Gave Me Children from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
