TOP 10 AMAZON BESTSELLER & #1 BESTSELLING ROMANTIC COMEDY A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey.Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world—really, just a swell guy!—on the off chance he’s … swell guy!—on the off chance he’s within earshot.
I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway…half-hidden behind a plant.
Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: switch specialties and spend months retraining, or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.
That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him—the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears—might just be reciprocated.
It’s fine.
I’m fine.
I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the supply closet. (Well, no more of those.)
What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away?
Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.
HOTSHOT DOC is a full-length romantic comedy. For a limited time, I’ve also included an excerpt from my #1 bestseller ANYTHING YOU CAN DO!

I received a copy of Hotshot Doc in exchange for an honest review. The books is about a surgical assistant Bailey who suddenly finds herself without a surgeon to support after her boss Dr. Lopez opts to take early retirement. As the legal guardian of her teenage sister Josie, she automatically panics. But with time running out Dr. Lopez attempts to help find Bailey a new spot with another Spinal surgeons, unfortunately her only option being the notorious Dr. Matthew Russell.
Matthew is a very finicky surgeon who prides himself on excellence and nothing can be sub par. He is confident in his abilities as has everyone around him running scared. After losing his fifth surgical assistant, he is forced to admit that he needs to either get the perfect assistant, or change.
Bailey intrigues Matthew from the onset as she is confident and is not afraid to call him out when she feels he is being unfair, something he is not used to. After a bad start, eventually the pair start working in perfect synchronicity.
When Bailey unexpectedly begins dating Matthews brother, it throws a spanner in the works and forces the pair to start realising there may be more to their working relationship that what they first allowed themselves to believe.
The story is a perfect blend of romance, hotness and plot twists. It was an enjoyable read which I completed in one sitting. Matthew is the perfect character, all sass but deep down a load of sweetness.
I would recommend to all romance lovers.
R.S. Grey is an automatic One Click author for me, and as usual she has delivered an incredible story that I couldn’t put down! One of my favorite things about her books is her ability to cram all of my favorite tropes into one, and still have them flow flawlessly. Hotshot Doc has her signature romcom feel, with enemies to lovers and office romance thrown in for the perfect combination.
Bailey’s life went a bit off course when she had to step into the role of guardian for her sister, but she picked herself up and made a life for the two of them. Sure they struggle, but she’s become an amazing surgical assistant, and does whatever she can to give Josie the best life she can. Until her boss decides to retire, and leaves her stranded with the devil himself.
Matt’s career is his entire life. He’s the best, and doesn’t have time for anything else. Until he runs off his latest surgical assistant, and has no choice but to take Bailey on as a replacement. What he isn’t expecting is the headstrong, tiny woman who is the only person who talks back and won’t put up with his antics. She might also be the only person who can wiggle her way into his heart.
Saying I adored these characters is an understatement. Bailey is adorable, headstrong, and determined. Matt is frustrating, demanding, and oh so swoony. Their banter is addicting, their chemistry undeniable, and together they are one of my favorite R.S. Grey duos! Josie was a perfect addition, her youthful optimism and humor a breath of fresh air.
While this book had me giggling non stop, it didn’t have the same over the top humor I have come to expect from R.S. Grey. Instead it left me with a permanent smile, happy heart, and new favorite story. It was sweet and fun, with the perfect amounts of steam and drama rounding it out. It’s one of those books that stays with you, and definitely one of my top recommendations this year!!
Bailey and Matt (and Josie) were so adorable! Bailey trying to avoid being alone with Matt because of the attraction was so humorous. Her ability to speak her mind and not cower to Matt’s personality really allowed him to soften up and see there was more to life than work. Great romance. Love R.S. Grey’s books!
This was my first RS Grey book and I really enjoyed it. The heroine, Bailey, gave up her dream of medical school when her parents died and she assumed guardianship of her younger sister. She is now a surgical assistant at the hospital. The surgeon she normally works for retires and she is forced to assist Dr. Matt Russell, the last doctor on the planet she wants to work for.
This is a stand alone book that has the perfect blend of character development, plot development, heat, and angst.
“I’ve perfected every spinal procedure in the book, but when it comes to matters of the heart, I’m a complete idiot. Good thing I didn’t go into cardio.”
Light, fun, sexy enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that’s perfect for a holiday read. Hotshot Doc has all the best elements that I’ve come to expect from R.S. Grey with the perfect mix of humor and romance.
Hotshot Doc is a brand new stand alone by an author I can’t seem to get enough of, R.S. Grey. Every one of her books is so different. I didn’t quite know what to expect with this one and I ended up being amazed. These characters…! I can’t wait to tell you about them.
Bailey Jennings might have entertained the idea of studying medicine at a point many years ago. But at the age of twenty, her parents were killed and she became the guardian of her little sister, Josie. Never for a minute did she regret her choice. She loves her sister and they have a wonderful relationship. Now, Bailey is a surgical assistant to a wonderful doctor in the spinal department. Only, her perfect boss is retiring. There is only one other doctor in their department that needs a new assistant and he is the very last doctor Bailey wants to work for.
Dr. Matthew (Matt) Russell has chosen pediatric spinal surgery as his specialty. Only Dr. Russell has a reputation at their hospital. He can’t seem to hold on to an assistant. His former assistants claim to needing therapy after their time with him. He is brutal. He is also beautiful. Bailey has been noticing him for some time. But she has never spoken to him. She knows all about his reputation. But it isn’t until she sits in on one of his surgeries that she gets it. That she witnesses his talent.
Bailey and Matt get off to a rough start. But they develop a respect for one another and yes, there is chemistry! Lots and lots of chemistry. The kind of chemistry that can’t stay contained forever. And when it is finally released, it’s earth shattering.
Can they continue a working relationship, though, while pursuing a personal one as well? And of course, just when they think things are perfect, life throws them a curve ball.
I loved this book, every word of every page. Matt and Bailey were wonderful. Matt’s transformation was beautiful. Bailey’s little sister was a show stealer. She was adorable. I also really enjoyed Matt’s younger brother, Cooper. Even though he wasn’t in this much.
This was such a wonderful book. These characters have stolen my heart. R.S. Grey is one of those authors that you know before you open Chapter one that you are going to be in for a wonderful ride. And that’s exactly what she gave me with Hotshot Doc. I can’t wait to see what she is going to do next.
4.5 hot stars
Hotshot Doc is hot, sexy, and sweet. It’s an adorable and smirk inducing good time. It will fulfil your Grey’s Anatomy quota while also giving you the hot nerd factor as well. We can even throw in the second chance of you want. Enemies to…
I’m not throwing any more possible genres at you but I will tell you it’s the perfect pick me up read.
I loved this story. The chemistry between these two characters was fantastic. I definitely recommend this book and this author.
This was a fun-to-read romance by the fantastic author R.S. Grey! It is a humorous story of Dr. Matt Russell and Bailey Jennings.
When Bailey’s boss retires, she has no other option but to take on a position with the most irritable, grouchy, pain in the a$$ surgeon in the hospital. He is the only one with an available position for her, because…well…nobody wants to work for him! Bailey had dropped out of college to be a doctor, and became a surgical assistant after the untimely and unexpected death of their parents. Now she is helping care for her younger sister.
With a little “help” from his brother, and her sister, and some text messages and a wedding and….welllllll….just read the story and you will see how it all happens.
This storyline flows so well, the story is hilarious, the banter is great, the author development of the characters is so deep, and the relationship is hot! I LOVED this one and would certainly recommend it!!!
Dr. Matthew Russell is a terror for all who work for him. Sure, he’s a genius when it comes to the most difficult of surgical cases, but he has no patience for the smallest of imperfections, and he runs his staff out left and right.
Bailey Jennings loves her job as a surgical assistant, but when her boss informs her that he is retiring, she finds herself scrambling to find a position under another surgeon. She absolutely refuses to work for a man like Dr. Russell. He is way too rude, with his icy personality, and a face too gorgeous to try to resist staring at…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once again, R.S. Grey has achieved romantic comedy perfection with her delightful new book entitled Hotshot Doc. I adored this story from the very first second I was introduced to it’s unforgettable characters, to the heartwarming ending that put a permanent smile on my face…
Bailey has had to make a lot of sacrifices in her life, like having to drop out of college to raise her teenage sister. But, she loves her life and her job, and never regrets the hard decisions and sacrifices she had to make. Working under Dr. Russell is a curse as much as it is a blessing. She admires his work, and is absolutely fascinated with assisting in the surgeries he brings to the hospital, but with a desire to crack his cold exterior, she keeps coming up against his standoffish personality.
Matt is a man who works himself to the bone and expects no less from his surgical team. Since he has gained notoriety from his brutal working environment, he has found his options for a new surgical assistant sparse and uninspiring. Until Bailey. She drives him crazy, in a completely new way, and the last thing he needs in his operating room is a distraction like her…
This book was such a delightful read from beginning to end. Bailey was an inspiring woman, who is raising her hilariously precocious sister and giving her the best life that she can. Matt was such a delightfully rigid man who puts up a great challenge to the charms of Bailey, but she eventually works her way right past his frosty exterior. With a slow burn relationship brewing between the two of them, once they finally realize how much they want each other, their heat is completely inescapable.
While reading this book it was hard to miss how well researched and informative it was. Not only were the characters performing difficult spinal surgeries, but you felt as if you were in the operating room right with them with the realistic imagery woven in by the author.
Hotshot Doc is simply rom-com at it’s finest. With such an engaging plot and storyline, it was undeniably sexy, sweet and thoroughly entertaining, you MUST read this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
