Who needs mistletoe? Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy … that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .
Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.

I love this book from a reliable author who gives the reader great characters, and interesting plot and plenty of romance! You can’t finish one of her ( jill Shalvis) books without a smile on your face!
I’ve been waiting impatiently for Hot Winter Nights, the sixth book in the Heartbreaker Bay Series, since I’ve read About that Kiss because the chemistry was insane every time Molly and Lucas were in the same room. I knew that with all those heated looks between them, and the fact that Molly is Lucas’ best friend little sister, their story was going to be amazing! Turns out, I was right! Jill Shalvis is slaying me with this series!
Molly works at Hunt Investigations as an office manager, even though she loves her job she wants to take on a different role. She knows she’s prepared for it but she has to convince Archer and her overprotective brother Joe that she is ready to investigate cases. She’s restless and she’s tired of being babied. Molly is probably the strongest heroine in this series, after Elle of course (no one is as badass as Elle!), she’s sassy, confident, sexy, smart and she drives Lucas insane with plenty of hilarious moments.
Lucas is a strong, protective, smart, sexy, alpha man whore male, closed off emotionally because of his heart breaking past, that thinks Molly’s way out of his league. What I loved more about Lucas was that he always got what Molly needed, he was in perfect sync with her feelings and he didn’t tried to smother her with his protectiveness. I’d say he’s the sweetest guy of the group.
So, there’s a lot happening in Hot Winter Nights, the night Lucas and Molly spend together (one night that Lucas doesn’t recall at all) puts everything in motion, there’s a very serious case involving sweet elves and a bad Santa, Archer and Joe trying to baby Molly, all the crazy gang meddling in everything with lots of hilarious dialogue, the sizzling chemistry between Lucas and Molly and very entertaining funny, crazy banter.
Hot Winter Nights is another must read in this amazing series, highly recommended.
I have been eagerly awaiting Molly’s story ever since we first met her in Archer’s story. She’s such a strong character, holding her own in an office full of alpha males, I wondered who would be the one to break through her walls. Lucas was the perfect man for the job. Unlike her brother and her boss, Lucas never felt the need to shelter Molly. Did he want to? Yes, but he also knew that doing so would clip her wings. I love the way he encouraged her to become an investigator in her own right. And (SPOILER ALERT) how refreshing to have the heroine be the one to save the alpha male! Another perfect addition to the series.
Another home run for Jill Shalvis in this witty, page-turner. I love the world of the Heartbreaker Bay Series. In fact, I’d like to move there.
This is the third book that I have read in the series and one of many from her overall collection. From the moment that the reader opens the book they have a mix of humor, emotion and intrigue all in one spot.
Character development is done well but not over done to a point that it feels too much. You also get to catch up on past characters from previous Heartbreaker Bay books.
In addition to the romance I truly enjoy the mystery that Ms Shalvis throws into her books. She keeps you on the edge of your seat til the very end trying to figure out who the bad guy is and will they catch them in time.
I can’t wait to see who will be the next couple in the series and to read what else she has in store for future series!
I recommend Jill’s books to folks that love humor, mystery and contemporary romance. You won’t be disappointed.
Jill is always great – she has a great wit and can tell a story that is fun and believable with the best happily ever after!!
Christmas is supposed to take place when it is cold and snowy. But not when they are written by Jill Shalvis. Her Christmas stories are light hearted, steamy, full of romance and a few twists along the way to finding your true love.
This story is about Lucas who is super serious and the guy you do not want to be playing poker against. He was tasked by his boss, Archer, to keep an eye on Molly. And this proves to be too much temptation for Lucas.
Molly has been the administrative assistant or rather the glue that keeps Archer and his crew together. And now she is ready to become a field agent. Well, she says she is ready but Archer and her brother, Joe, think otherwise. Joe is still very protective of Molly because of something that happened to her in their teen years as a result of some bad choices he made at the time. But Molly is determined and ready to prove that she can handle herself in the field.
Molly has already picked up her own case helping a neighbor who works at a Santa bingo hall. Santa is up to something naughty it seems. And this case is sure to create some interesting situations between Lucas and Molly. It might be cold since it is Christmas time but Molly and Lucas know how to create their own heat while trying not to give into temptation.
This is book #6 in the wonderful Heartbreak Bay series by Jill Shalvis. But like all of the books in this series, it can be read as a stand alone. It is the perfect read for a rainy weekend when you can’t be outside enjoying perfect fall weather. Okay, any book by Ms. Shalvis is great for curling up in a comfy chair and losing yourself into her wonderful worlds.
I did receive a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. Although, to be honest, I purchase her books as soon as they are available to be purchased. I happen to like her writing quite a bit.
Once I began reading this book, I didn’t want to stop! I have fallen in love with this series! Each book in the series adds to the whole story and leaves you wanting another story for these characters. Molly and Lucas are a great compliment to each other and you can feel the attraction between them on the pages. Another homeroom for the Heartbreaker Bay series – anything but a heartbreak here!

Review Lindas Book Obsession Review of “Hot Winter Nights” by Jill Shalvis
Jill Shalvis, Author of “Hot Winter Nights” has written an engaging, entertaining, witty, romantic and captivating novel. The Genres for this novel are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Mystery and Romance. Jill Shalvis describes her colorful characters as quirky, complex, and complicated.
Have you ever heard of a “Naughty or Bad Santa?” It seems that several senior citizen “elves” are waiting at Hunt Investigations for Molly Malone, office manager to help make Christmas right. This is not a case that Hunt Investigation usually deals with, and if the bosses, or Molly’s brother who works there has anything to say about it, this is not a case for them. Usually Molly is there, and the elves are waiting. Where is Molly?
It seems that one of the employees, Lucas Knight, recovering from a gunshot wound and on strong pain medication, had just a little “drink” the night before and finds himself out cold in bed. When he wakes up, he realizes that he has the company of an attractive brunette all wrapped in his blankets. Would you like to take a guess who that guest might be? Just keep in mind that Molly’s brother works at the agency, and is very protective of his sister.
It does seem that these “elves” are convinced that there is a scam going on at the “Christmas Village”, and the workers and “elves” that work there are being underpaid. There seems to be a BINGO game that is making lots of money. When Hunt Investigations is aware that Molly might choose to get involved, they ask Lucas to watch out or babysit her. Little does anyone realize what is really going on, or the possible danger.
I would recommend this romantic and easy read to those readers who enjoy a Romantic and enjoyable story.
I love this series and this story had a great undercover, girl power, funny with some good intrigue moments as well. Great security romance.
Lucas has been just drifting through life until Molly woke up in his bed. Molly wants a chance as an investigator but Archer won’t let her. Finding a case to investigate on her own is her chance to prove herself. Lucas is asked to watch over her but ends up falling hard for her. Now to convince her to take a chance.
I love Christmas stories and Jill Shalvis always delivers on them.
Back in Heartbreaker Bay, yay!!! I’ve loved every book in this series. I can’t get enough of this close knit group of friends that is more like a big messy family.
Lucas is recovering from being shot and has a drink while on pain medication, which results in him waking up in bed, with his friend Joe’s sister, without any recollection of what happened.
Molly and Lucas also work together and when Molly goes against orders to investigate some shady goings on at Christmas Village Lucas is recruited to watch out for her. Can they work together to figure out what’s up a Christmas Village? Will Lucas remember what happened the night they spent together? Will the two of them be able to resist the obvious chemistry between them?
I guess you will have to one-click Jill’s book to find out. You definitely won’t have buyers remorse with this great book.
I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I LOVED these two together! Molly has always been a favorite of mine in this series, and to see her get the guy she wants was awesome! Lucas was alpha and tough, but when it came to Molly he mixed it with a bit of sweetness. The banter between the two had me laughing, and I loved most of the secondary characters and catching up with the previous couples. A fantastic addition to this series that I would definitely recommend!!!
Hot Winter Nights was so much fun to read. Every time I finish a Jill Shalvis book I have the biggest stupid grin on my face. Her books just make me happy.
Molly wants more responsibility at Hunt Investigations but her brother Joe won’t allow it. She is a more than capable office manager but that’s all she’s allowed to do.
When neighbors come to Molly with a case she can’t resist helping. Her bother, Joe, knows he can’t stop her from helping so he asked his best friend, Lucas, to keep eye on her…..keep her safe and out of trouble.
Lucas keeps insisting that Molly is off limits BUT you know what they say about forbidden fruit….???
Suspense, lots of chemistry and humor round out a book that doesn’t disappoint.

Hot, humorous and oh so fun! With the next book in her much loved Heartbreaker Bay series, Jill Shalvis brings us Lucas and Molly’s story. They’re a really adorable couple together, and as we learn more about each of their pasts, it only brings them closer to our hearts. I felt like the bad Santa case was a bit weak, but the relationship between Lucas and Molly was so enriched that it made it a great book regardless! Really enjoyed them!
Lucas Knight is blown away by the fact that he woke up with Molly Malone in his bed … and can’t remember a thing about how she got there! Did they … or didn’t they? Molly is quick to lay on the details in an exaggerated way … which leads him to think she might be yanking his chain. Wouldn’t he remember?
Molly might be pulling a fast one on Lucas, but if she finds out that he’s been sent to babysit her as she takes on her first case, there will be consequences! A bad Santa stealing from his elves is sure to keep her attention as she delves. When sparks keep flying anytime she and Lucas are in the same vicinity of each other, they eventually stop resisting!
4.5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review
I really enjoyed Hot Winter Night by Jill Shalvis. Jill’s writing is amazing and keeps me coming back for more. Jill was one of the first romance authors I ever read and any chance I get to read and review a story of her’s I jump at. This story can absolutely be read as a standalone, but why would you? I loved everything about this series and I think you will as well.
Molly’s dream is to work in the field at Hunt Investigations, but her brother Joe, isn’t about to let that happen. Molly is tired of being in the office and craves the danger and action that’s out there. When an opportunity presents itself, Molly does what she can to help find “Bad Santa.” Even when her secret crush Lucas is assigned to help. Molly has a heartbreaking past. Lucas…Lucas has a past that’s just as heartbreaking. Together, can these two overcome the past to make a future?
I sincerely enjoyed this story from start to finish. There was more suspense in this one, than most of Jill’s books. Which I liked, but also didn’t. Jill is my go to for frilly, heartwarming love. It was odd to have a story by her with suspense. I’m not saying it was a bad thing, just not what I expected. I love Molly and Lucas’ story and I think you will as well.
This series just keep getting better and better. I remember while reading Joe’s book how excited I was about getting Lucas and Molly’s story. This was such a great book! I loved both characters so much. Molly is the office manager for Hunt Investigations, but she wants to be so much more. She has the intelligence and ability to be so much more. It is unfortunate that she is surrounded by so many alpha males who just wants her safe and protected at all times. But when she is approached by her elderly neighbors for help, she could not turn them down. Knowing that Molly will continue with investigating this case on her own, Lucas, the security expert in the firm is asked to assist in secret. We know this is not going to go well. Even though these two feel the attraction towards each other, albeit unknowingly, they both have reasons for not wanting to pursue it. But being in such close proximity there is going to be no way to ignore the sparks for very long.
Their journey is cute, sweet and pretty hot. I loved the banter between these two. From the very beginning of this story, Molly was messing with Lucas’ head after he wakes up not knowing what happened the night before. The teasing was really funny. Poor Lucas, he was so fearful of what Joe would do to him and even his own fears of loving again, it was keeping him on his toes. But once he stopped resisting, he was all in. I loved how supportive he was towards Molly and her abilities. He didn’t see her like the fragile flower everyone else saw. Molly, who had gone through something horrible when she was just a teenager, has closed herself off from any kind of connection with anyone. But that magic fountain had other plans. So what ensues is a bit of suspense, some laugh out loud banter and an awesome HEA. All the secondary characters were also wonderful, I love the feeling of family we get throughout these books.
Another great story in the Heartbreaker series. I can’t wait for the next one!
Another great story in this series! I wonder as I finish each book how Jill Shalvis manages to write one great story after another. Loved Molly and Lucas! Can be read as a stand alone but I recommend the whole series!
Leaving an honest review after receiving a copy of this book.
Jill Shalvis does it again by writing another 5 Star must read book!
I loved Hot Winter Nights and couldn’t put it down. Molly and Lucas are the perfect couple as their personalities contradict one another but they are able to overlook their differences and work together to crack a hard case.
The elves are hilarious and I laughed throughout the book.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the Heartbreaker Bay series!
