A Legend is reborn in the American apocalypse.
Hood’s life is gone. Student loans, house parties, video games. . .gone. The world has become a place of pure survival. Lucky for him, he’s a natural with a gun in his hand. Learning to live with pulling the trigger is something else entirely.
Over two years have passed since the collapse of American civilization. Hidden away in the mid-Atlantic … the mid-Atlantic countryside rests the small town of Clearwater, where a group of survivors led by a young marksman called Hood and an ex-cop by the name of Whiskey have found security in obscurity. Raging through the remnants of the northeast, two kings, the Kaiser and the Crusader, fight a bloody war for control of the land.
Hood, Whiskey and the Clearwater crew survive by stealing just enough from the Kaiser to keep the town going. But they cannot stay hidden away forever. . .
For reasons he doesn’t understand, Hood is pulled into a war he wants no part of. A war he cannot stop, a war that puts the lives of those he loves most on the line. Kind-hearted, Idealistic and a goofball at heart, Hood must embrace the stark reality of violence and ruthless survival that defines these new dark ages.
If you loved The Last of Us, I Am Legend, or The Road, you won’t want to miss HOOD!

Enjoyed reading!
characters are and how they came together. Yes, Hood and Whiskey are nicknames. The collapse is caused by both warfare and virus. Society is reduced to brutal survival and one wonders if those who seek to lead are wise enough to put aside areas to grow food.
This is a very likely “end of the world as we know it” type of story. It does show those who seek to “enslave” and
those who want to rebuild society can act. The UN is even there. There is sex, but only in passing and not overtly descriptive in its occurrence. I’d let a young person read it without worry. Even the necessary deaths are not described in vulgar detail.
I paid 99 cents for this book & overpaid. Hard to believe that a publisher agreed to finance a sequel.
Thought provoking on how things could be
Very predictable, frankly I got bored with the story 2/3’s of the way thru and struggled to finish it. I will not be following this author or this story line.
An up close and personal look at what it might be like in a post-apocalyptic world
I enjoy this type of fiction. This book was interesting and action filled with some unforeseen twists.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading and it was a bit slow to start however a third of the way in the pace picked up and I was really gripped. An interesting and thought provoking read that I really enjoyed.
Good read that led me to want to purchase the sequals.
Great book. Plenty of action and suspense. I will look for the follow up book to this.
I was enjoying this book for several chapters and was excited to see how the story was going to play out. However – when you introduce mobs of deformed mutant zombie-like humans you have lost me forever. It totally ruins the believability of the story and becomes cartoonish. I do not recommend this book.
Great character exploration.
It started out with a good apocalyptic story but got somewhat boring later on.
Very juvenile writing. Could not get into it at all.
Great apocalypse themed story, centring on the power of love and sacrifices made because of it. I liked the depth of the characters, struggling with good vs evil, yet trying to survive.
I was amazed by how this book pulled me right into its world. From the first page, I cared about what happened to the protagonist. And soon the author layered really tight suspense on top of a easy-to-relate-to character. I have to say that by the end, it got significantly darker and more violent than most of the books I recommend. But the suspense and characterization made it impossible to resist. Readers will find some strong language, but no graphic sex, which was a plus for me.
Too gritty for me. Very depressing.
I was drawn into the story. The ending was surprising.
I enjoyed this book. But I like end of the world type reading anyway.
It was a very good read. The characters were engaging. I would recommend it.
